I really think the people in charge of creating Pokemon card sets ought to go back to not guaranteeing holographics in every pack. Along with that, alt arts are always great. As much as I enjoy trainer gallery cards, they either need to go back to having packs that can have two pulls in order to support those or make their pull rates easier.
Yeah I agree. There's so many different types of cards now makes completing sets almost impossible lol I liked the old school ones just lucky to get a holo hit haha
My 6 year old daughter pulled the arydactyl for Christmas. We got it graded for her, and it came back a 10. She doesnt really understand the value of it graded. She was upset cause it couldn't go in her binder anymore. I just keep telling her she will thank me later 😆
i was heavily into pokemon and pokemon cards as a kid. i inherited some cards from base set, jungle, fossil, base set 2, team rocket, neo revelation and other first and second generation sets. since i was born in 2000 i didn’t start collecting/opening my own packs myself until delta species and holon phantoms. i’m a diamond and pearl girl, gen 4 was everything to me (especially when it came to the games)! i love everything before that too. i played the emerald game on game boy and more, but damn, ds pokemon games were my shit! i stopped collecting pokemon cards in around 2011 or so. then got back into it all last year, with all my cards still in binders. although, i REALLY wish i took better care of them… some (not all) of the most expensive older cards i have are the cards i unfortunately liked most as a kid (holos lol) and i loved to play with and look at them so they’re the most scratched up. damn. i also wish i got back into collecting and opening packs during sword and shield honestly (or way before lol i wish i didn’t miss any of it! like x&y and sun&moon and before). some of my favorite modern sets are in the sword and shield era, although i do love some scarlet and violet sets. so i see why sword and shield is sought after. i myself hunt for it in stores/online or eras before it just so i can at least get a chance to open it before it becomes way too expensive to get anymore. it sucks how unobtainable past eras are now. i’ll never get the chance to experience everything i missed, but that’s just how it is. it sucks but at least now i’m here to stay and i wont miss any new eras from here on out!

I had my best pack openings this past weekend, there was a walmart deal online for regieleki and regi drago boxes i got 3 eleki boxes that came in on Friday. Me and my friend decided to open one box, in one of the 4 packs I got origin forme Palkia. The next day Ghe regidrago boxes came in and No shit the one I decided to open up was one that had a corner ding and i even put on of the four packs in a binder to keep in my collection then in the last pack I opened I got Origin forme Giratina. I’ve literally opened up 8 crown zenith packs in my life and to get those two out of 8 from 2 different products randomly like that is nutty!! Needless to say Crown is my favorite set now!!
Sword and Shield... what an amazing era of the TCG. Because of the sheer craziness that happened during the era and how many people it brought into the hobby, no matter how intense upcoming generations and sets may be, S&S will always have a special place in collector's hearts. You briefly mentioned the Twilight Masquerade allocations being nerfed. I think it was Danny who said (I watch too much YT but I'm pretty sure it was him) because places like GameStop and Best Buy will carry booster boxes of this set, it may have skewed the allocation numbers for private businesses like yourself. Just a theory but it makes sense.

I feel like a big thing that affects a sets value is if there is at least one big hit card. Evolving skies of course with moonbreon, garatina in lost origins, team up with the latios & latias, I imagine silver tempest will sell out next but the lugia isn’t quite as valuable as the others.
Lost Origin was the only english set I ever bought a booster box for, desperately chasing the Giratina alt art. Closest thing I got was a regular Giratina V :/
I just started collecting when Sword and Shield Base set came out. Wanted to try and complete it before moving on, but may have to just move on to something else. Got into it since my niece and nephew like getting packs for Christmas.
So I got started into the Pokémon scene right before I deployed to the Middle East. I spent most, if not all of my free time watching your videos and catching up with the everything Pokémon. It’s so nice to see a community you built around this TCG. I look forward to finishing your videos from the very beginning until now. 9:10 I agree that some of the S&V gold cards are different, but the green/teal type ones were only in Paldean Fates. I personally enjoy the gold cards in PAF.
The problem with SV is that we are already tired of the 180 different versions of the same cards. It is the same two legendarys that people are not that hype on. They lost the thread. 151 was huge because we like what pokemon was not what it is rn. It always bounces back, so we are just waiting for that to happen.
8:16 it's cause this new gen of Pokemon isn't for the 20-40 year olds, it's for the next Gen of kids (ages 6-12) it will be interesting to see how Pokemon shifts from here
Nice set from the s&s era! the set in S&V currently averages a 6, in S&S the figure is around 7.5/8, probably because you don't have too much alt art. and feels special if you have 1 and especially if you have a double with the trainer gallery.
do love lost origin, seems to be a secure supply where i’m at though, but i’ve also been finding some XY era and Sun&Moon packs at some unassuming stores that keep their pokemon cards behind the counter, it’s 100% worth going pack hunting, especially in more rural areas

It was rough watching people open TF and just get no pulls constantly. Twilight Masquerade seems to have a good card list so hopefully the hype for SV comes back a bit when that set releases.

I opened up a build and battle stadium box because i heard it was busted with some people getting multiple alt arts out it, but mine literally only had 2 v cards and nothing else. Been chasing that giratina alt art for years now and thought it was finally my time. Been one of my big goals in the hobby. Really hope i’ll pull it someday, but starting to lose hope now.
Of course when you have tens of thousands of CZcamsrs telling everyone to invest in the shiny new product that they've invested 6-7 figures into, they're gonna spike up to insane overvaluations. The vintage product is rare because very few people were storing at as investments. There legitimately isn't much left anymore. On the other hand, every set Primal Clash-onward there are millions of CASES in storage. They aren't even close to rare.
I always thought it was crazy how some cards in a set are so expensive/popular that they ruin the value of all the others so much. Even if they are hard to pull like those rainbows. Less than pack value for those rarities is weird

I remember just getting into Temporal Forces and walking past the shops and seeing Twilight Masquerade being advertised. It's also what killed my interest in collecting tbh. Most people I imagine just don't have the funds to justify buying so much to pull the chase cards, especially when just buying the card(s) off eBay or somewhere else tends to be way cheaper than buying a booster box and hope you get the chase cards. Not saying it's bad, it just feels like too much.
I unfortunately recently got back in after being out of the hobby since the original base set/fossil & jungle days.. I've had a lot of fun opening the S & V sets. But I've really been fighting the itch to get some boxes or at least packs of Sword & Shield sets. I wish Evolving Skies wasn't so pricey now.
I totally agree that sword and shield has more Nostalgia/cooler pokemon. I loved playing sword and shield more than scarlet violet and that's just reflected in the cards too.
The market is talking about what a great time sword and shield were and what great sets they were (pure nostalgia and emotions), but open an entire sword and shield booster box and get like no pulls xD

I think silver tempest is gonna go up in the future as well. It’s a sleeper set not many people focus on. But the cards are sweet. That lugia V alt is awesome it reminds me of the shining gyrados from neo
I still remember going to my LGS in Sept 2022 and buying booster boxes for $90 and ripping them for the Giratina V Alt. Finally pullled it from an ETB in Nov 2023 a year later of trying to pull it.
I started trying to collect lost origin 2 months ago and almost got all basic cards and rares. So saddens me they stopping printing this awesome set now :/
Just started collecting and I decided to start with which ever booster packs were in the pokeball tins I bought. Lost Origin and Silver Tempest are what I’m starting with. It was way too hard to choose otherwise.
From what I saw things stared to be crazy with chilling reign, and got more and more hype with every set release until crown zenith, then with the new generation even with all beautiful cards we got the hype is stil less than SWSH era
I was a manager at a Walgreens back when Vivid Voltage took off. One of my other store leaders and I would order excess packs to try and pull the Pikachu but no luck. We still had fun ordering random Pokemon products. Without my team I had, I don't know if I would have ever gotten back into this!
The early gens are by far better then the newer generations. It is of course because of nostalgia, but it feels like the newer printed generations just aren't even close sadly with Scarlett and violet. Sword and shield was amazing tho!
I came into the hobby a little too late. I was hoping the card single prices were going to stay low for a little while and now this huge SWSH scare has caused prices to sky rocket and now when I have the budget to buy the singles I want I can only get a couple of them now
Idk why anyone would buy a booster box of the old sets. They start to skyrocket and its more financially smart to just hit ebay up for the complete sets. Usually go for 500 minimum.
Lost Origin is my favorite set from the Sword and Shield era. Wish I had picked up some more booster boxes while they were cheaper!

Bought a box a year ago and haven’t opened it. Was fortunate enough to pull the Giratina Alt out of a tin from Costco.
I like Lost Origin, but like most sets from around that time, the pull rates are not the best.

Early sword and shield was also helped by how good the late sun and moon series was.

Just started collecting and I decided to start with which ever booster packs were in the pokeball tins I bought. Lost Origin and Silver Tempest are what I’m starting with. It was way too hard to choose otherwise.
How do you see the highest price card to the lowest price card of different sets
From what I saw things stared to be crazy with chilling reign, and got more and more hype with every set release until crown zenith, then with the new generation even with all beautiful cards we got the hype is stil less than SWSH era
It's crazy how fast new sets are released. It feels impossible to complete any sets

Lost origin is the set that was newest when I re entered the hobby so I always love to see the openings.
Never liked Lost Origin much, really its just the Tina and the Aerodactyl. I like Astral way more!! But crazy to see it sell out
Scarlet and violet will be fine as time moves along

I was a manager at a Walgreens back when Vivid Voltage took off. One of my other store leaders and I would order excess packs to try and pull the Pikachu but no luck. We still had fun ordering random Pokemon products. Without my team I had, I don't know if I would have ever gotten back into this!

The early gens are by far better then the newer generations. It is of course because of nostalgia, but it feels like the newer printed generations just aren't even close sadly with Scarlett and violet. Sword and shield was amazing tho!
Not just lost origin, brilliant stars, and astral radiance sold out recently.
bought 2 of lost origin boxes before it sold out, hope that one of those boxes have a giratina alt art ✌️
I only really like the TG Snorlax and Arcanine from the set. Not much of the other cards grab my attention for the artwork that I really like.
I came into the hobby a little too late. I was hoping the card single prices were going to stay low for a little while and now this huge SWSH scare has caused prices to sky rocket and now when I have the budget to buy the singles I want I can only get a couple of them now
Idk why anyone would buy a booster box of the old sets. They start to skyrocket and its more financially smart to just hit ebay up for the complete sets. Usually go for 500 minimum.
I bought some and opened all the packs were super easy to open. And all the cards were facing towards me when I opened them an idea?
i liked this set mainly for the gallery art, but otherwise it’s not one of my go too’s for sword and shield area

I have only bought one pack of Lost Origins and I got the Aerodactyl V alt art card. I was so happy.
