Time to start getting some new videos up on the channel and this is one I have been wanting to play for some time. the Tie Fighter Total Conversion, A re-creation of one of the freatest starfighter sims of all time in a more "modern" engine with heavy graphical upgrades. So, it's time to put these rebels in their place! For the EMPIRE!

Edit: For everyone, please note that there are two versions of the mod, this is TFTC Reimagined but we also offer TFTC Classic which has all the OG levels, unchanged (except to account for any balance differences between the TF and XWA engines) and also all original voiceovers, dialogue and story.

TIE Fighter is without a doubt the best space fighter I ever played. Just trying to get the primary, secondary and hidden objectives all completed and going up in the ranks of the Emperor's Hand was so exciting.
You ever have nostalgia for memories you forgot for the past 20 years? That opening cutscene I had completely forgotten, but watching it made the memories flood back! I used to watch my brothers play this when I was a little kid. So glad people are giving it the love it deserves. Long live the Empire!

X-Wing / TIE Fighter games are part of my core education as a game playing person. It's great to see you take a look at this total conversion, X-Wing Alliance had some interesting improvements to the earlier games.
I still have my 1995 collecters edition Tie Fighter CD and case on display right next to my PC. Tie fighter always was and always will be the single greatest example of what a space sim can be, so much so that here we are 28 years later with allthe PC hardware power and all the design tools in the world and we are still waiting for someone to do it better, the sad truth is no one has even got close since the late 90's.
@@MagzGTV I'd say that X-Wing and TIE Fighter (and by extension X-Wing Alliance) were the best examples of a space sim using an established franchise as a background. They really nailed the Star Wars feel - and, in some ways, contributed to it.
However I would say that as far as gameplay is concerned, overall the FreeSpace and FreeSpace 2 games have a very slight edge in terms of playability. Of course, FreeSpace (1998) and FreeSpace 2 (1999) stood on the shoulders of giants like the original X-Wing and TIE Fighter games and heavily relied on them in some ways, but if we compare FS/FS2 to X-Wing Alliance, FreeSpace 2 had some much needed quality of life improvements.
But Star Wars is Star Wars, and if someone's looking for a Star Wars fighter sim specifically, then this is pretty much the best they can get. If they're looking for a space sim in general, I would point them towards FreeSpace Open project with all the mods and total conversions that can be found in that direction.

...more accurately, the term "gamer" is associated with certain behaviours and attitudes that I want nothing to do with.
Additionally I have very little interest in the "mainstream" games of recent history such as Minecraft, Roblox, PUBG, Overwatch, GTA, Call of Honor, Medal of Duty, Last of Us, or other similar fads. My interests in games are more specific and frankly speaking quite fringe, so I don't think describing myself as a "gamer" would give the right idea to most people.

Great work. This is a dream of mine, as someone who played through TIE-Fighter, X-Wing vs TIE-Fighter, etc. I used to participate in a forum called the OPT project, making new ships and adding them to the game. At the time, the ability to mod and create ships was very limited, and we had to be very creative therefore. I can't believe it's been going on since then.
It was the start of the golden period of gaming, where us young kids with our creative minds suddenly entered an imaginative world of pure potential and possibilities. My father got me the Star Wars collection. I still remember that day, almost 30 years ago. He has since passed away, so these nostalgic memories are of a time when he was still here.
I bought a 100mhz Pentium machine in May of '95. I bought the spec. ed. of X-WING right away, along with the Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS flight stick right away, but the throttle would be delayed in it's release for a while. I played through X-WING in a few weeks and loved it. When the spec. ed. of TF came out I got it as well. Played it, loved it too. Today I barely remember anything about them. But seeing you play this brought back this mission to me. Though I remember it as being a lot less cluttered, and 3 YT-1300's in close proximity. Looking forward to more. Keep it going.
Wow, i remember it finishing the campaign as an Imperial General as an Emperor`s Hand and now this brings a tear to my eyes :)

Tie Fighter is the game that got me into both PC gaming and StarWars. I was a Trekkie if anything before then.
This game is a national treasure. It's a huge reason I picked up the flight controls in real life.
One of my proudest accomplishments in life is an opportunity to contribute to the legacy of this game in the form of this mod. (Concourse/Pilot Room/ Email/ Voice acting). I really hope you enjoy the gameplay.

Played the original X-Wing and Tie Fighter when the came out. This looks amazing.
I loved this game and am excited seeing this revived. The TrackIR and HOTAS support is incredible.

I remember playing Xwing vs Tie fighter at a gaming club with a LAN setup with about a dozen? PC's and for a few bucks for a hours flying you could do massive furballs......

NOOOOOOOO Don't remove the secret order missions... those made Tie FIghter the best game ever. The feeling of working for the Emperor (via a middle man) was one of the greatest feelings.
The missions are there as are the cut scenes, they are just now part of the primary objective structure and you automatically get the SO briefing as part of your main briefing. You can see how they have included them in the second video in this series.

Did you know Tie Fighter is the only Star Wars game with a story where you are purely working for the bad guys.
No moral choices that can make you a good bad guy like swtor. Or start as bad guy and become the good guy. The force unleashed and squadrons.
It's an unique Outlook in the star wars universe. Even outside of Star Wars game this game has very unique perspective not a lot of games allow the evil or bad side to shine.

This is Star Wars the way I remember it.
I was so obsessed with this game in 1995 - 96 that I dreamed of it while sleeping at school.
Wow! Now this is a new series I might enjoy even more than cold waters! Think I might also have to give it a go as looks great and I loved the original. I still have the book guides to both Xwing and Tie fighter on my book shelf at home so maybe it's time to dust them off!

I think the X-wing alliance mod that this is built on has had some re-imagening in it's missions, but I do agree builting a total re-make of the Xwing series would be fantastic as well.
@@MagzGTV Yea, but I’m talking about the original X-Wing, Alliance was pretty story complete when it was released. X-Wing vs TIE Fighter’s expansions could probably benefits from something like this as well.
@@Avalon304 They're working on it. The engines that run TIE and X-Wing are completely different. TIE and Alliance ran off the same engine and was much easier to rebuild than the X-Wing engine. It's a bit more problematic and taking much longer than anticipated.

The only thing I wish is that I'd caught this mostly through the campaign so I could binge it. This TC is just incredible. Stuff I couldn't have even dreamed of back playing original Tie Fighter.

In your first deployment, you not only shot down an X-Wing during an Ambush, you also took heavy damage from a concussion missile. And lived. The Empire clearly took notice of your skills, quick thinking and reflexes. You have earned a promotion to Tie-Fighter Pilot!!

This is one if the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
So I watched the beginning of this in the small muted preview mode, and the theme song played so loud in my head that I legitimately thought I heard it playing from my speakers.
oh man, nostalgia. I played the heck out of this game when it came out. I had a level creator that was fun. play as TIE defender against increasing waves of enemies. so much fun was had

Now in your deployment of your Tie Fighter, you went ahead of all the other Tie Fighters to personally scan every ship before the rest of your squadron even arrived. Excellent thinking.
It's beautiful. Yeah the audio you commented on does sound like the original audio. I was about to comment about how the new voice actors had replicated the intonation of the originals, but it makes more sense that it was the original.

👍 Xwing Alliance was my first ever game that forced me to use nearly ALL the keys on the keyboard, along with my Logiteck gamepad. Really hope this conversion gets finished.

OMG Tie Fighter was the progenitor of my love of Space Sims. I played the shit out of Tachyon the Fringe but I was a little too young to truly understand what was going on in TIE Fighter to TRULY appreciate it at the time. A Remake/reimagining of it is EXACTLY the sort of thing I would absolutely LOVE.
I like the windows, but I follow the idea that the TF pilot helmets had an AR setup with additional holographics projected on the interior panels that are only visible while wearing the helmet.
What I wouldn't give for a proper big budget remake of these games. I remember playing through TIE Fighter on keyboard only (didn't have a mouse yet) and I still loved every second of it

To be fair, I hope they aren't.
I don't think Disney has any real influence on any of the games. To be honest, I had an absolute blast with Squadrons, especially since it's very rare to have a flight game you can actually play with an active multiplayer community, let alone with a group of friends. The singleplayer definitely left a lot to be desired, however.
Need something like this for Wing Commander!!

The 90s LucasArts games were unbelievably good. X Wing Alliance was peak Golden Age gaming. Gimme my TIE Defender and we're gunna have a good time! They sure don't make em like they used to!

I played the living snot out of this game back in the day (Wing Commander III too). Good to see the game is alive still. I wore out multiple joysticks on those 2 games. Tie Fighter was a huge improvement over it's predecessor X-Wing, in how playable it was. And it was in VGA 640x480, compared to 320x240 for X-Wing, which made a huge difference in graphics. The A-Wings in later missions were a tough challenge. It was very hard to get the turning circle on them.

It's still ok now with six movies, one TV show and a fantastic library of books making the expanded universe. Shame they stopped making Starwars but oh well. . .

The Naboo ship (Sinder) is from Attack of the Clones.
Notice how the missions don't have asteroids FUCKING EVERYWHERE. That's because space is empty, kids. Really, really empty. That's one of the things that drove me nuts about squadrons. It felt more like a maze game than a dogfight simulator.
Yeah, Squadrons didn't get the differences between the ships right, as I recall. If I remember correctly, it's been a while since I played squadrons, instead of making the imperial fighters faster and more maneuverable on a constant basis they gave them like, a speed boost special or something, on a cooldown, which DOES NOT feel or function like a proper imperial fighter. They gave TIE fighters excessive armor, instead of making them fast and maneuverable. Yes, outpacing and outmaneuvering your foes would give the imperial fighters a distinct advantage if they could get behind their enemies, but that's why the rebels had to fly with wingmen, not only that, imperial fighters would almost always deploy in massive numbers to overwhelm their opponents. In squadrons, you deploy what? 4? And maybe a handful of NPC fighters. That is NOT the compliment of an imperial class star destroyer, or even a victory class. Granted, in a head on battle most times the rebel fighters would win against basic TIE fighters, cutting them down, but only until they could get behind them, or come at them from the flank. Then there's my favourite imperial fighter, the defender. Shields as good or better than an x-wing, a payload close to that of a bomber, and the speed and maneuverability of a TIE, they'd mop the floor with ANY rebel fighter, and even take on capital ships. Yet in squadrons, they had a weak shield, again no imperial fighter had the speed or maneuverability they should have had. Most of the rebel fighters felt like a pretty good match I think, to what they should be, if I remember correctly, except maybe the a-wing. For the same reasons I listed above. Speed and maneuverability. Sorry to harp on those points so much, but, I think that's a big part of what was lacking. Well, that and the single player story could have done better with two seperate campaigns, one imperial, one rebel/new republic. If they wanted intertwining storylines they could do that with two seperate campaigns, but the flip flopping back and forth is immersion breaking. Anyway, I've talked your ears off I'm sure. That's just some of my opinions.

With a minimal amount of work, you could set any ship in XWA as flyable, and some of them did actually have cockpit models. I might just have to give this a go!
This looks incredible. I'd love to play it, but I doubt my reflexes & piloting skills are at the level they were 30 years ago. The were more than a few missions in which you had to pull off some insane piloting and gunnery to complete the objectives for the Secret Order of the Emperor.
