idk why but the USA one feels sad, i think its just the old tape sounds in the background
Portugal is the oldest imperial nation and outrageously was not mentioned here.
ikr! they did them dirty. Especially the fact they mention japan and not Portugal is just ..yuck
Francis Scott Key didn't pen his poem "Defence Of Fort M'Henry" until late 1814. Set to music from an old British drinking song, "To Anachreon In Heav'n" (As was Key's prior song "When The Warrior Returns"), the "Star-Spangled Banner" it did not become the official national anthem of the USA until 1931. Several songs were used as unofficial national songs until then. My favorite out of the lot, is "Hail Columbia".
Just my 2¢, YMMV
To Anacreon in Heaven,
Where he sat in full glee,
A few sons of harmony sent a petition
That he their inspiration
And patron would be,
When this answer arrived from the jolly old Grecian:
"Voice, fiddle, and flute,
No longer be mute,
I'll lend you my name and inspire you to boot,
And besides, I'll instruct you, like me, to entwine,
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus' vine."
Ye sons of Anacreon, then join hand in hand,
You've the sanction of God and the fiat of Jove,
'Tis yours to support, what so happily planned,
May our words ever invoke friendship and love,
While thus we agree,
Our toast let it be,
May our club ever flourish, united and free!
And long may the sons of Anacreon entwine,
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus' vine!
And long may the sons of Anacreon entwine,
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus' vine!
Uhh
Fun fact: the Russian Empire was the third largest empire to have ever existed (yes, it was larger than the Soviet Union!)
Adding on, this was from their American colonies of Alaska, part of California and part of Hawaii
@@Justinanderson8654 Finland as well
@The one European dude don't forget the influence they held at the northern part of Persia from 1914 to 1917!
Russians didn't Colonise Persia. It was a Military Occupation. And also Russians ended Occupation shortly after Russian Revolution.
@@iliakabiri7944 that's why I mentioned INFLUENCE
USA used "My Country 'Tis of Thee" as national anthem up to 1931, actually. Not the "Star Sprangled Banner". Music would be the same as 'British' anthem (brits actually stole that melody from French).
Also, Japan 'had' (up to 1990s there was no official anthem set by the law, both were used as de-facto anthems based on tradition) historically two anthems: "Kimi ga yo" which author features and second one, "Umi Yukaba".
It isn't stolen if the French stopped using it but yes they did copy it.
French was the original language of "God Save the King," but the music was written by the British. So no, the Brits did not steal the melody from the French. The French stole the melody from the Brits. However, they DID write the original lyrics.
in 4th grade, we sang my country tis of thee to US veterans
the song at the outro is called battle of new orleans if y'all wondered
fun fact, france has the same anthem but with more moderne instruments
And the UK too
United Kingdom’s anthem just sounds like something on tv but it’s so peaceful with the melody:)
the austrian empire anthem, Deutschland über alles, is now the German anthem, with other lyrics ( Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit), on a music by Josef Haydn.
Actually, it is "Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser", which is the Imperial hymn. Deutschland über alles is the name of German hymn (which now only uses the 3rd verse of the text and thus is called Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit).
@@stefanpajung113 Or just Deutschlandlied
No Portugal, Qing Dynasty, or Ottoman Empire (Turkey)?
The qing didn’ even have an official anthem
@@Crimsrn They did. This is what the anthem was: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cup_of_Solid_Gold
@@Crimsrn Wait is the Qing Dynasty present day China?
@@armaniii0 no. it was the last imperial dynasty of china from 1644 - 1912 until it was crushed in the xinhai revolution
It's all a burning memory
especially the dutch anthem
En España literalmente la única diferencia que hay es que quitaron la letra
The dutch anthem is the oldest anthem that is still in use
Portuguese hymn from that time was great!
I would say that the U.S. didn’t start being an empire until it started moving west and relocating Native Americans. You could also say that it didn’t start until the Mexican-American War.
or when they colonised Liberia
@@artisiole325 Liberia was a republic founded by free slaves. Though there were Colonial Socities in many of the states the american government never truly formed colonies (Territories are not Colonies before you ask) The island "Colonies" were directly annexed not self-governed (key to how colonies work).
I think they started becoming a Empire when they went to war with the South
Where did you find that version of the British one
Actually, the U.S first adopted their national anthem in the 1900s.
The dates show the country's existence, not the anthem's usage.
The dutch anthem from 1833 until 1932 was called "Wien Neerlands bloed" and was not the same as the "Wilhelmus" which became the National Anthem after that date until the present.
Got erhalte Got Betzchutze was the Austro Hungarian Anthem nor Kaiser Franz, that was the HRE and Austrian empire
I’m assuming the years were how long the anthem was used? Since technically the British empire collapsed in 1997
nah cuz god save the king still used to this day
@@ScootOots technically it was god save the queen from 1952 to 2022 so it did end as an anthem
fun fact: all the countries listed in this video are part of the Boxer Rebellion
Ottoman Empire: Am I a joke to you?
the USA one just sounds like it’s being invaded and it’s playing at the end of its final communication to its Allies
...reminds us that there are still 3 more to go.
Man the voice of radio
Are all of these just rare recordings?
Not enough views
i like how most of these were participants of ww1
Where's the anthem of the last colonial empire (1926-1974)?
Wasn't the italian royal march sung by kids?
Just like the nazis in 1945
Probably that the unofficial
the anthem of the Kingdom of Italy did not have a text this and of 1938 in honor of the birthday of the king recorded by the Istituto Luce (like the British pathel but only that this was Italian) where it was sung by the army in front of the monument to Vittorio Emanuele II grandfather of the king called Vittoriano or Altar of the Fatherland
you can seriously tell these anthems are old
1:00 The Russo-Empireal Anthem in the late 1800s and the early 1900s.
That all it rare❤
4:11 Ouch MY EARS!
Bruh the modern UK is still the same one (politically) since 1707 so the UK part must be 1707 - present...
And the modern Netherland is only exist in 1839 (because there used to be a kingdom called UK of the Netherlands or United Netherlands (1815 - 1839) ).
7:14 Austrian Empire to Austro-Hungrian Empire
7:18 Austro-Hungrian Empire it's makesedest
can you make soviet union
I mean America was considered an empire once because it had claimed the Philippines, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam and others
Anthem of empire of janpan changing
Portugal, China and Turkey???
Me knowing germanys true empire is in europe💀
I believe the German Empire's anthem was "Deutschlandlied" and not that song.
it was not deutschlandlied, it was heil dir im siegerkranz
Deutschlandlied was adopted in 1919
Das Lied der Deutschen was adopted in 1922 during the era of the Weimar Republic, and later readopted as the anthem of West Germany in 1952, the anthem of the Kaiserreich was Heil dir im Siegerkranz, which was also royal anthem of Prussia from 1795 till 1871 when Prussia united into the Second German Reich
Where is Portugal?
their will be a part 2

Yes USA is an empire which have colonies and it's still an empire now
Yes the U.S. still has overseas holdings in the Pacific and Carribean, and it can be argued that Puerto Rico is in a way a colony.
