    Looks very interesting Mattias, I recently got Seaboard 2, but I'm gonna keep my eye on this thing as well :)

      Oh Awesome the Rise 2? How do you like it so far? The Erae Touch intrigued me because I’m an old drummer. 🥁 And saw Coldplay use it in some video too. Smashing for live performance. 👌🥳

      @@MattiasHolmgren I love the Rise 2 and also the software that came with it, very nice Synth and really great samples that are really good for any ambience soundscapes design that is what I am mostly interested to play with :) I love it so far and am learning it :)

      Sounds awesome! Yeah I’ve been looking into rhe new Rise 2, Its great to be able to just hook it up and have MPE ready sound engines and sounds to play with from the get go! 👍 I did play the 1st gen Seaboard at Namm and it felt a bit ”alien” to play, but there’s always a little learning / practise period for all new instruments. But oh so lovely to get more instantanous control over the sound sculpting. 💎😄

    Thank you for including that it supports MIDI 2.0 at 0:43. It went by so fast the first time that I missed it. I'm about to see if your discount code still works. 🤘

      Thanks, yeah I'm having a blast with the Erae. Indeed very much a visual performance instrument! I never played the Roli, how do you like it? Looks like a nice tight setup. They reached out to me some year ago about it but I had too much going on.

    Thanks Mattias. I got the Roli Seaboard 49 (4 years old), and its already wearing a bit out not much, but enough for me to want a smaller expressive pad controller. I looked into Push3, but I don't want to jump back into Ableton (I use bitwig), and expressive is so fun. The seaboard is a bit big (wide) so its often just stored back into the shelf. With this, I can get expressive pads on my table and also the Push 2 with bitwig without having to store the units.. Noice.
    I used your discount code.
    Now I can't wait for this to arrive in a few weeks I can only assume. I dont think they got the backlog of orders like ableton got with the push3.

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  Před rokem +1

      Superb congrats. The erae is a really fun controller! Push 3 seems overhyped x100. I have the Maschine+, but they all suffer from tiny CPUs although they are great for arrangement / song ”starters” and then you finish the songs on the real dedicated computer later. Thanks for using the discount code. It helps a ton!! 💎😄🥁☕️

      @sveinjohansen6271 Před rokem

      @MattiasHolmgren thanks, I tried iPad and iPhone touch. It's a bit too sensitive for my likings. Push2 is great with bigwig. I also tried hydransynth deluxe. It's either too hard keys or too little aftertouch to comfortable control modulation with fingers. I saw the erae a few years ago. I thought maybe company is too small to support software over time, but now it seems they managed to get software right.

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  Před rokem

      Aftertouch is always wonky…on all my 411 midi keyboards and synths… its never right… except on the Expressive E. 👌😄

    • @sveinjohansen6271
      @sveinjohansen6271 Před rokem

      @@MattiasHolmgren I did try the hydrasynth deluxe, I did not like the keyboard. It was way too hard to get the modulation going, and the modulation area was about 1mm which is so little to even get some expressive going. The seaboard needs some tuning to get it right, but it is definetely expressive. The pads are quicker to play on in my experience, but I really want the expressive pads.. so when I saw your video I thouhgt, yeah, getting that. Its been shipped to me, waiting for DHL from France now.

    Excellent, thank you Mattias. Great performance 👍
    It's a very good controller but a bit limited, I prefer to keep my money and spend it on L'Osmose.🇫🇷 (made in France)
    As a guitarist I took up the keyboard at the first confinement and instinctively I always vibrated on the keys, without any success, so I started to research and I came across this keyboard some time later, last December when the first pre-orders arrived I could finally place an order in my local shop, I'll have to be a bit more patient but the quality videos allow me to wait.
    But I'm still looking forward to putting my hands on it and finally feeling that a vibrato will have a consequence on my playing. 🔥🎹🔥

    I have also been thinking this looks pretty interesting - specially because it also supports use with drum sticks. Was a bit disappointed with the price though - felt that they were asking too much for what is basically just a midi controller.

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  Před rokem +5

      Hi Johan , it feels like a high-end product compared to some other gear I tried. If you can hit it with drumsticks, it sure has to be well constructed. 🥁👍 yeah price is like an iPad. But you can’t really hit an iPad and do Z-pressure dynamic CC-control at multiple notes etc.

    • @drrodopszin
      @drrodopszin Před rokem +2

      All other MPE controllers are very expensive or stopped producing (like the Sensel Morph).

    Thank you for the video! Just out of curiosity, how hard does one have to push down on it to make notes? Can someone just very lightly place their finger on it and it registers notes or do you have to push a little bit down onto it? Thank you.

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  Před 5 měsíci

      You need to do a little light push. Hard to describe. But the new model that is coming out is even more sensitive.

    • @armonsari2772
      @armonsari2772 Před 5 měsíci

      Thank you. Also can you adjust the sensitivity of the touchscreen to where the device can register a note by just merely placing your fingers on the screen without pushing into it?

    A bit expensive for very little few more features (actually just one, the surface feel)than an iPad with touchOSC don’t you think?

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  Před rokem

      Hi Carlos! 🎉 Price is always relative. I think the Erae Touch is very much a visual performance instrument too, also suitable for live situations and touring. Comparing it to an iPad… You can’t play with drumsticks on an iPad, nor does it feature pressure depth sensitivity, this one has very smooth depth. I think an iPad is a cool tool too (esp for all the apps you can hook together), but isn’t really comparable. Erae is super easy to customize as you saw in the video. Switching midi channels and midi cc for diff areas and panels on the layouts… and switching / creating your own layouts.
      Ive used TouchOSC in the past but found it a bit awkward to customize and the iPad is just a flat glass display. And only depth sensitive with a pen (pressure). Its a totally different feel using a Erae. its not for everybody, but a cool addition to a live performance artist or as a more expressive midi controller for a producer / sound designer. 👌😃💎

      @@MattiasHolmgren I managed to get rid of the glassy feel with Paperlike screen protection on the iPad, but I agree with you , Erae have a few convenient upsides. To be more precise, what I wanted to say is that 700Euros is a hard to justify when you already have an iPad (which most of us do) reaching 80% of the same features. As you said it’s not for everybody, for the reasons you mentioned. On my side I compensated the 20% missing with a Roli block to ad some expressiveness here and there. Have a nice day!
