The "T" sound is used in the American accent in some cases like "Safety" "difficulty" and "faculty" but not in "city" or "opportunity", for example.

Hello Katharine , your reading aloud text in this video
is really helping me in practicing pronunciation.
Your American accent sounds cute ,
like an American news presenter , and like
the American girls I taught some medical jargon in class.
(so my accent turned more American / Dutch in time)

I'm from Cambodia. I like both, the British and American Accents. The Flap T in American English, it is when the 'T' is pronounced as 'D'. These are the four rules I like the most in English American Accents.
    1. When the "T/TT" is between the two vowel sounds.
Examples: batter, bitter, butter, caterpillar, city, hotter, latter, letter, matter, meeting, meter, relative, sitter, sweater, water, waiter, platter , whatever, metal, medal, butterfly, putting, citizen, Italy,
    2. When the "T/TT" comes after a "vowel + r" (sometimes called "r-colored vowel').
Examples: barter, charter, comforting, dirty, quarter, thirty
    3. Before syllabic /l/; in other words, before the unstressed "ul" sound (International Phonetic Alphabet: / ǝl/).
Examples: battle, bottle, capital, fatal, hospital, rattle, metal, turtle
    4. In a phrase or sentence, before the stressed vowel at the start of the next word.
Examples: know it all, meet Alice, not on, What are you doing?

American accent doesn't always turn "T" into "D". For example, you said satin as "sadden", but we pronounce it like "sat-in", instead of British "sat-tin". Where the British pronounce the "T" twice, we just do it once in the first syllable. Where there are actually two "T"s, like flatten, is when Americans make the "D" sound.
