I felt so much better when you started calling it Lipo instead of Lithium Polymer. 😀 interesting little welder. Thanks

Your 3D print looks great! What did you print on and what plastic did you use ?

Thank you! I printed it on my Prusa MK3 using Fillementum Vertigo Grey PLA.

I purchased one of these several months ago based on a lot of positive reviews such as yours - good to hear your take on it. My big concern is the use of the lipo power supply (I have yet to get one) - do you have any concerns about using lipo? I'm on the fence trying to decide if lead acid is safer. Do you find any excessive heat build up when using the lipo battery? If it stays relatively cool I imagine it's probably not too concerning. Any comments along these lines is appreciated.

I hear ya. Lipos are kinda scary to me. I almost went with the lead acid battery model, because of my Lipo fears. However, I decided to go with Lipo for a few different reasons:
      1. I already had a Lipo charger and fire safety bag because of my interest in radio-controlled models.
      2. The lead acid batteries you have to get are substantially more expensive than Lipos, are much heavier and bigger, and have their own set of caveats and dangers.
      3. My research showed that, while Lipos can be dangerous, modern chargers and Lipo packs have numerous safety features built-in to them. As long as you give your Lipos a rest between cycles, don't ignore signs of aging and don't poke at them with sharp implements , they can be used very safely.
That last point is why I don't trust the newer mini spot welders that have built-in Lipo packs. I have no idea what kind of safety measures they have, nor the quality of the internal packs, nor how I would know if a pack was going bad or overheating.
Regarding overheating, I haven't experienced that, though I haven't put the welder through any long welding sessions. The safe way to handle Lipo packs is to have more than one, use the first one until it needs a recharge and if you need to keep welding, switch to your next pack, allowing the first pack to cool down before you attempt a recharge.
      Hope that helps.

@@FedLearnsToMake Thank you for taking the time to put together this very thorough reply - very helpful. You addressed all my concerns, and then some.

Why is it better than the German "kWeld" ?

    • @FedLearnsToMake
      @FedLearnsToMake  Před rokem +2

I didn't know about the kWeld when I did my initial research and bought the Malectrics. While the kWeld looks like a well-designed spot welder, I would still choose the Malectrics because they keep improving it via software and design upgrades.

      and correctly pronounced az > e-sack <
It iz an arabic language name
The majority of people have no clue as to the correct
pronunciation as they DO NOT understand phonetics -
and that almost all languages are phonetic - except English -
which is a crazy mixed up inconsistent language - that was
devised for the purpose of being deceptive.
