I thing later than 1947 - young Jørn Ingman on the solo guitar I belive came onboard in the fifties. Svend Asmussen had many great hits in Denmark in the late forties and fifties. Wonderful musician, wonderful showman, too
@@f5mando I'm sorry you don't have it any more. I hope you get another one. Mine is a black pearl 2006 9-5. My husband gave it to me in 2015 for my 51st birthday.
Good ear - it’s actually the very same melody. At least in the original version of “Hallelujah, I’m A Bum” It was put together by Haywire Mac McClintock, he was a member of the Industrial Workers of the World, a revolutionary labor union in the early 20th century. They would often take hymn tunes because they were pretty and change the words to be subversive and to agitate among the working class. This song specifically is a commentary on the life of the hobos who used to ride the trains, but McClintock repurposed the tune of “Hallelujah, Thine The Glory” for his song. Even kept the same general formatting. The name kinda lampoons the hymns title too. It’s a bit hard to hear in this version since it’s played very eclectically, but you’re absolutely right! Here’s McClintock playing the song (czcams.com/video/LfQYarb4Lyk/video.html), the melody is much clearer here.
I had no idea Svend was such a ham in the old days. Thanks a bunch for sharing such a gem.
Thank you very much for this wonderful clip from I guess 1947, when I saw them first time! Happy memories!

My grandmother is 90 and she says she danced foxtrot with him once and had his records when she was young
Wow, this is super! Thank you so much for posting it! I can use for my college classes when discussing post-war transAtlantic culture.

I say 1952.
Playing with and fixing his limping bow while performing. "Mr Mussen" was a class act and a real pro. Thank you for the music Svend!
That was really smooth to do that so nonchalantly.
@@saabninefive93 I had a '06 AERO which I miss... ; )

Great version of a classic American song!
In this arrangement does anybody recognize some of the melody of the hymn "Hallelujah, Thine The Glory"?

It’s a folk song, people change lyrics all the time in folk music.
