- In this video, I take the street legal NASCAR up to town and run errands like it's my daily driver!
It's much more streetable than a cup car with the full NASCAR cup driveline, I must admit. It has a Gen I chevy 350 with 882 heads and an edelbrock 1404 carburetor. That's mated to a TKO-600 5 speed on back to a 3.00 ford 9 inch rear gear with a Detroit locker in the cup full floating axle.
That's a mouthful, I know, but it translates to a car that drives around like your run of the mill old muscle car.
It's not that though! It has no windows, no doors, no passenger seat, no glovebox, no A/C, no power steering, no power brakes, a rough ride, and it's loud as can be. but it's a fun car to drive and it get's a lot of attention!

Go to the bank
And you can come with me for the day!

In America you can make this street legal and drive around all you want.. In Europe you can't even drive a 70s production car without a special permit. That's for all those who don't understand what "American freedom" means.
I would gladly take less taxes over being able to drive old obnoxious shit boxes but go off.
That's the beautiful thing about America. I have the choice! I left high taxes and less freedom in CA for low taxes and more freedom in another state!

Personally, I think having a legitimate race car as your personal vehicle on the street is the absolute coolest thing, just have to be EXTREMELY careful.

On a brighter note it's probably the safest car on the street, you could go ahead on collision , roll over or t-bone and walk away Gauranteed 👍🏼

As long as you habe the window net, seatbelt, helmet, fire suit, hans, and all a race driver needs on a race day
If you are just in your normal clothes this is more dangerous than a normal car cuz there are no aribags

I seen this car a while back in Kokomo heading north on 931. It is so much brighter when you see it in person! If I ever see you driving around I’m gonna stop and check out your ride!

I was a huge Rudd fan as a kid. I saw one of these in person once at our Local JC Penny and I was literally in heaven. That car is a NASCAR icon.
Man, that Tide Ricky Rudd car was legendary in the mid 90s for me. Had a bunch of toys
I still have a bunch. Grab them whenever I find them.
You got plenty of room for cupholders and phone holders in there. Also...you can put in electric power steering pretty easy...get a Chevy equinox unit and a black box (can find em online). They're small and light...so much so that we use them in our TQ midgets. You ll be able to put a knob to adjust the amount of power assist in the cockpit. They're great and about $800 all in. And only 2 wires.

When I think of the Tide sponsored car, I remember Darrell Waltrip winning the 1989 Daytona 500 in it. When he drove the Tide car, it was with # 17.

Haha not too upset about the powertrain, you wouldn't be able to drive it in town without attracting half the police department if you had the stock engine, let alone put more than a hundred miles on it.
Yeah, the cup engine would make the thing really unreasonable. Can't put 87 octane in a cup engine lol fuel alone would be ridiculous. It's supercharged now, 93 only, so we're getting a little more crazy. Still not cup level though!

I would kill for a late 90's early 2000's stock car from Nascar. I would even drive it daily as my only car. People say money can't buy happiness, but the gas money for this thing is well worth the smiles you get hearing that engine roar. 😎
Driving it is a very raw experience. No creature comforts whatsoever. That's my favorite thing about it.

I wasn't a Rudd fan until I got the car. Then I started doing some reading, and now I'm a fan for sure. Ricky can DRIVE lol, especially the road courses. Totally underrated in my opinion.

You could put doors by cuting the side panels and then reinforcing them as doors but not sure how well that would go

Are you sticking with the classic SBC, or maybe an LS? Or something more unique?
im betting hes going with an LS. the best motor to think of is an aluminum truck LS with a holley EFI swap(the holley sniper throttle body setup)
plus im sure hes on a budget and what i said might be the best swap possible
It will likely stay an SBC, at least for the meantime. I'm trying to keep it under wraps, but I'm thinking of hanging the hood in the garage and putting a 6-71 blower on the current short block. ;) If budget was unlimited, it would be getting a Ford Godzilla V8, a sprint car 410, or a custom street built RO7 from PME (That's what I REALLY want is an RO7)
