A phrase that really resonated with me: "What makes us human makes us equipped to lead and serve."
What a beautifully courageous and inspiring talk!

She speaks of losing her relationship with her dad as if he didn't choose to lose his own relationship with her because she wanted to be true to herself. It's his loss too, he could have chosen to agree to disagree. Good for her for staying true to herself!

There’s nothing wrong with women running for political office as long as they share the views and believes as their constituents. I don’t believe in far left candidates that push far left leaning political ideas that represent a small minority fraction of the voting public. People should be represented by politicians that support their ideas and point of view.

This is in response to Lorena Spencer below:
    Ms. Spencer:
I viewed your comments regarding my relationship with my daughter. As with most things, there is always more than one side to a story. Up until a few years ago, I have always been impressed with how intelligent my daughter was about her political positions even when I did not agree with them. Despite her attempt to embellish her position as being a proud moment to stand up to me, sadly, that is not the issue.
The trigger that ended our relationship involved my litigation with a family member and after settling that issue I learned that my daughter had been communicating with this other family member during the settlement negotiations. It became that moment in life when you get stabbed in the back and turn around to see who it is and you discover, with absolute shock, that it was your daughter.
This video by my daughter is a lie solely intended to make her look good for political purposes. I am not a public figure and her characterization of me is a complete fabrication. My daughter is a liar and her comments towards me are done only to make herself look as a victim. She is not a victim.
When this video came out, I had a choice, I could have sued her to take it down or not. Free speech does not mean you can lie. However, in the slimiest of moves, Sofia defamed me for her own gain knowing I would not litigate with her. She gets away with it, that is how things work with a Dad like me and she knows that.
My proudest moment in life was seeing her being born. That moment in life when I saw that it was her that had stabbed me in the back and who has defamed me for her gain at my expense, made me realize that my greatest regret was when she was born.
You can look up to her and you can side with her positions on whatever you choose. You are entitled to your opinions and feelings. I don’t know you and just conclude you are reacting to such little information that it has little value to me. Do not minimize that it was me that was there the day she was born and I held her in my arms and kissed her pretty head. It was me that was there when she was running a fever. It was me who changed her diapers. It was me who divorced her step mother when she threw her to ground. It was me who drove every weekend to the bay area to pick her up to spend time with her. It was me who got custody of her and raised her when she was teenager. It was me from birth to adulthood. I have already judged myself for all those years and, while I am not perfect, I know that many children would have loved to have had a Dad like me.
I have nothing to apologize for, but all should question, has Sofie apologized for betraying and stabbing me in the back? Nope. She won’t, that is the person she has become. She got married without telling me… she brought into the world my grandson without telling me.
My father, her grandfather, died in 2014, my proudest moment was the last conversations I had with him in which he told me he was proud of me, proud of the job I did as a Father and that he loved me. For Sofie, unless she does something different, my last words she will hear from me is that I am not proud of her, she has disrespected my good I did for her, she has portrayed me in a false light for her own gain and I think she is a liar. I am not proud of having been placed in a position to say it. This entire situation with Sofia has made me sad until the day I leave this world.

Just litigate bro. If you're telling the truth then you might as well since no one but yourself has your back and all your doing is feeling bad for yourself
