This actually blew my mind! You haven’t gone as much into JHope’s solo work and you haven’t yet seen much of his personality, but he called himself “Hope” for a reason. And ARMY calls him our “sunshine”. His musical style and sound has so far been the epitome of hope and sunshine with meaningful and deep lyrics. So this is like a 180 from his usual. Even so, I absolutely love it and I love that he branched out and tried a completely different sound. It makes me so excited to see his whole album! We already see some deep meaning in these lyrics and in the dinner festa he said that his album was very structured in telling a story, so I am soooo curious to see what he does with it and where this song takes place in that story. 💜💜

"I WANT MORE!" J-Hope's message proves he has been wanting More...for a long time. If you listen carefully to his comments during Festa 2022 he has been thinking about going solo for a long, long time! The machine or box or bubble of BTS that has held in J-Hope's creativity is officially busted open with this song. And consider this. How long does it take to come up with a concept? A song? Lyrics? Set design? Costume design? Makeup? Director? Technical? Supporting cast? Concept for teasers? Teasers? Filming? Editing? Lighting? Sound? Art direction? Marketing? If you didn't know...it takes a long time to come up with a product! Then it takes even longer to come out with a high quality Grammy worthy product money making product! Approval from Big Hit? Approval from Hybe? Test Marketing. Yes...test marketing. Anything that is put out in the market is tested first. I used to work for a company that test marketed movie previews. They film many versions of them. Then ask movie consumers to answer questions about their opinions. According to the data received...the movie preview that test marketed the best is put out on the market. So in conclusion, at the Festa 2022 BTS explained they were taking a break. Partly to rest. But partly to do solo work. So BTS KNEW they would be making this announcement a long time ago. My guess...and just a guess...would be over a year ago this final decision was made. But it had been in the works all along. I think after covid hit BTS had to weigh their options then. They knew they might never be able to do a concert again. So J-Hope has been wanting "More" for a long time. Now he is really free and he is getting his "More"! One more example of this besides his album. And by the way...he doesn't care... "the boys" don't care if they ever win a Grammy Per J-Hope's lyrics.
They just want the freedom to be themselves without being "Held" in a group. "More" is So Much More than we could ever expect from J-Hope. Brava Hobi! Brava!!! Even more and MORE...headlining at Lollapalooza in Chicago!!!!
They were planning to go solo after MOTS:7 every single song in that album the lyrics suggest they were tired and needing a break. WAB the eternal was gonna be their last song for ARMY as 7 for a while, the MV explains a lot too. The break was supposed to start after 7 years together.

The funny thing is that J-hope isn't my bias, I haven't even heard all of "his" songs (I haven't been a fan for a year yet) - and yet I'm actually NOT surprised... :D
He's so sweet and sunshiny when you see his BTS persona, but it's always been obvious that he has some sharp edges as well, and that they've been chafing against the limits/boundaries of the group work occasionally.
So this "explosion" of his musical creativity actually fits right in with my mental image of Hoseok as an artist, rather than J-Hope.
Not my usual style, but I really liked it.

It's always fun watching with you; you're so enthusiastic. It took me three listens to get into this but now I'm hooked. Our sweet Sunshine is showing us his darker side. He has said that his parents worry because at home he doesn't smile much and is quiet. Can you blame him after a day at work smiling away for his brothers and us? This reminds me of garage band music and boom box music I grew up with.
In my mind I see the kid with the boom boxes in the parking with lot with the truck (boot) open and us all dancing. In the parking lot. Or my friends band rocking out in the garage.
