    Iam working for one latex designer in Czech Republic, we are using "rema vulc" its basic tire glue and it works quite well. Eurocatsuit stuff is expensive as hell.

      I have used "tire glue" for years to repair items. However you have to work fast: tire glue tends to curl the rubber garment.

    • @Lipton199333
      @Lipton199333 Před rokem +2

      @@VictorianMaid99 You have to wait minute or two after the application of the glue. It will uncurl itself and then you put it together.

      @VictorianMaid99 Před rokem

      @@Lipton199333 that is easy, I will try that on some test rubber. If this works I can fix some more complex items I have been waiting on.

      About "tire glue" I only have terrible memories due to the poisonous benzol fumes. In my youth I patched my bicycle inntertube, and the vapour made me sick with very bad migraine and my sweatshirt stank half a year of that obnoxious stuff despite wash. Nowadays I only use Copydex non-toxic rubber cement and some isopropanol as solvent.

    Not a “very suspicious consistency “ lol
    But bro I’m glad you doing this bc I’ve been using elmers rubber cement and an old gift card for my small things but I assume if I wanted to get anything like my favorite brand invincible rubber I should be using this

    You're pouring the cans the wrong way... Pour it with the spout on the higher side so you don't flood the hole causing the glugs and splashing that happens when air forces its way in. When you pour it with the spout on top it doesn't immediately flood the spout like the other way does

  • @furripupau
    @furripupau Před 4 lety +3

    I've used the plain best test rubber cement you can find in any arts and crafts store to patch holes, and haven't had a problem. I suppose it's going to be a different thing if you're actually making something.

  • @mikashy

    I'm just using marabu fixo gum (rubber cement) for me it works good as it is I never had problems with it's viscosity

  • @uleavittbe
    @uleavittbe Před 4 lety +6

    So I've used bestest cement and thinner for years now. Couldn't get bostik at the time and latex retailers weren't selling their glue. I've also bought cement and thinner from blackstyle and was happy with that. Honestly I mixed my cement to match the consistency to the blackstyle cement.
    When making this video, did you happen to compare the consistency of the cement from eurocatsuits? Did you have any left to compare to? Although I do have a cement tonwork with, I think I'm going to try and get my hands on a sample of the bostik country out. See if there any differences.
    Thanks for the informative video. on a side note, my cement is mixed probably closer to 60/40 than your 65/35. Still works. Just have to be diligent on getting the silicone off the latex before repairs. Also, mineral spirits seems to work well cor prepping latex before gluing, at least for me.

    Recently bought Elmer's Rubber Cement, I see it already contains heptane, been testing it with ballons so I don't make ny mess with my rubber gear. Seems that it curls a lot but I'm gonna investigate if there's another glue that may help reduce the heptane ratio.

  • @Ballz2U2
    @Ballz2U2 Před 4 lety

    I interpreted the picture you posted at 1:42 as being 15-25% more solvent than the cement, as in 125 solvent for every 100 cement, or a ratio of 55/45 with more solvent. But your results seem to point the complete opposite way lol, I just didn't want to waste the math and comment done, woops.

      Any of the n95 masks should be good enough. More importantly is having a window open you you have some ventilation.

    • @ChrisHansonWorld
      @ChrisHansonWorld Před 3 lety +1

      @@whiteoutrubber An N95 mask protects against particulates but won't protect you from volatile chemicals. I recommend that you take a look at the Material Data Safety Sheet (MSDS) for Best Test Thinner (cdn.dick-blick.com/msds/DBH_SDS_23712XXXX.pdf). I am not sure what the best mask is for that purpose but the 3M website is pretty helpful for determining that. At the very least, use in a well-ventilated area and keep the container capped as much as you can. It evaporates quickly and can give you a nasty headache. You may not notice it but it's not doing your lungs any favors either. That said I've been using it for years and have found 90/10 to 80/20 works well,

    • @AerialTheShamen
      @AerialTheShamen Před měsícem

      @@whiteoutrubber I solely use isopropanol as solvent and Copydex non-toxic rubber cement. Important is that both sides need to dry (turn transparent) before pressing together, and seams can not be corrected. If glue really won't stick (or e.g. needs more waterproofnes) I use a bit of acetone as a stronger solvent (curls much, so use paper adhesive tape to stabilize).

    • @marcofreire
      @marcofreire Před 3 měsíci

      When you glue 2 pieces together and need to readjust, you can easily peel it right away. The longer you wait the more difficult it becomes, but still doable. Depends of the glue and solvent percentage. If you use a roller and press on the seams, consider it glued forever.
