Erma was bad. We dodged a bullet. Ian was nasty and killed a friend who refused to leave their home. We never lost power, but it flooded downtown Naples. We’ve had three major hurricanes since we have lived here. They are so destructive and deadly.
Definitely a scary situation. We have to prepare as best we can. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
So glad to someone salvaging, I bought my house from a demolition company. Usually the houses are just demo-ed. Not much salvaging going on in my part of the world- South Central California
Most of the time there is always stuff that can be salvaged. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!
So sad to see this devastation. That was a cool old building. I love seeing that you salvage what can be saved! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching hope to see you again soon!!!
Thanks, will do!
Watching from Germany 🇩🇪 😀 don’t know how I got here 😂 very interesting and sad. We normally see the hurricanes for a couple of days on the news then nothing. This really shows the devastation after the news cameras have gone 😢
Its a slow rebuild everything is so expensive and not enough contractors ect. ect.
Sorry to see this building go. I love the arc of that folded slab roofline! It's such a cool retro building.
Its Sad this one was loved by everybody...........................................
@@removeitprosdemolition The design had a lot of character and it worked really well with the space of the property.
@@mackhopper It maxed out the views on the canal and it looked interesting.
Our home was destroyed on FMB during Hurricane Ian all our Dewalt tools were under water we flush with fresh water and lubricated with WD40 and they’ve worked flawlessly since. Had water to the ceiling some of our neighbors decided to rebuild we decided to buy new built to new FEMA flood restrictions.
Wow. Glad to hear you guys are still local. Such a shocker that we got hit so hard. How long have you been on the island? Thanks for the comment.
That WAS a good looking building. It is astounding how much damage Fort Myers experienced. It is all so sad to see.
They could keep that stuff but there are certain rules, from what my high end builder told me about where you position everything on a ten million dollar house..........
@@removeitprosdemolition Paul, I think this response was probably for another comment? :)
Don't forget that TV on the wall! 😂
Good eye!
Hey Dave! Love your show and what you are doing by recycling! I find your show very interesting, informative, and very entertaining! Keep up the good work! ❤❤❤
Thank you such a compliment!!!
Great channel! Makes a very good understanding about how your business works! Keep up the good work! Greetings from the Netherlands.
Thanks and thanks for watching
I used to stay at the dolphin inn its such a shame i will miss this place w❤
I really liked it it had some unique class to it.
Let’s hope that God is good this year and our country doesn’t have this many hurricanes that do that type of damage god bless America 🙏
Thanks for watching hope to see you again soon!!!
Thank you for your awesome videos. I really enjoy them. I'm watching from Anchorage Alaska
Thanks for saying that...we enjoy this very much.
Love what you Do
I really do and my son, Taylon and I are very close its a joy to work with them. Really we got a great group of people accumulated over the years they own this place.....
I stumbled upon this vid. Very fascinating! I had to watch to the end. Interesting the items you can salvage and resell. Great idea that air bnb folks can use items. I was in Fort Myers the week prior to the hurricane, therefore, the magnitude was stunning to me.
Thanks and its so sad, the FMB charm is gone.
Grade beams are never vertical but rather horizontal and run parallel to the ground/grade and are supported by vertical friction pilings or formed columns sufficient in length or run to bedrock to support the structure and attached/connected to the grade beams. This is generally considered a superior method for supporting structures on non-solid/sandy ground. Grade beams do not need to be below/buried the ground elevation and can be above grade and exposed in areas of uneven surface or elevated gound floors and may appear as footings to casual observation. For demolition purposes the efforts required to remove this type of supporting foundations will be substantial to effect complete removal. I am amazed at the amount of recycling efforts your firm preforms, Great job keep up the good work!! Ray Stormont
Thanks for the information.

Thank you!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it! What other kind of videos would you like to see?

Sad to see that much destruction !! I like your stuff an how you run your business ... An can't wait for the next scrap yard run ...
Yeah. It's really sad but the cleanup needs to be done. Thanks for the comment. Next scrapyard run shouldn't be too long. Stay tuned! Thanks for watching.
This is why I live in Michigan just way too hot and humid for me.

Awesome video to explain what the hurricane did to this building, scary stuff. I subscribed.

I’m happy to see that you’re picking quite a few items and resell them. At first I was afraid all would go to the landfill. In general I think we should re-use as much as we can, mankind got too accustomed to throwing things away that are good.
Good job! 👍
Good point!
Don't forget about taking all the light bulbs. Big money 💰 🤑 selling each bulb 💡 that works
Didn't think about that. Thanks for the comment.

I am not surprised that hurricanes in the USA cause such damage when the houses are only made of wood and cardboard. If they had decent building fabric, it would be completely different.
It's all about building cheap, cheap for show, but selling expensive to increase profits. It's a strange culture.
A lot of the old houses did not make it. The new houses you can't even tell a hurricane hit. The building codes get more strict all the time. Where are you located? Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
The wife and I were down last Christmas. Very sad. Lots of damage.
Gonna take a long time to recover.
I've been to Ft Meyers, and it's sad to see what the Hurricane did 😢
Yes. And unfortunately it's taking a long time to get things back towards the way it was. When were you here? Thanks for watching.
I am glad to see that some things will be recycled and that not everything is scrapped. That must have been a decent place in its day.
It was very nice!!!
very nice, but we`re ALL waiting for your next visit to the scrap yard......🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
It will be soon!!! The police station has a ton of scrap. I will put a picture in the community area.

Haven't watched the full video but sometimes I forget things, anyways, you talk about the storms(hurricane's) the way I feel about earthquakes,it misses or no damage(major anyways),moved to L.A. in '75 so avoided the sylmar quake, missed Whittier quake as was driving class A in 48 states, then Landers,Big Bear, Northridge quake woke me up but i just tried sleeping through,i figure when its time it'll let me know it,peace and enjoying the demolitions,.

Looks like the dolphin inn fm local here first place I ever took a staycation at one of my favorites on the beach
That's it!!
0:30 kind of looks like the building they used in the Dexter TV show where his Apt was lol
Which part?
Heartbreaking how much damage was done. This was a cute little resort. Gave me 1950s vibes.
We will miss it It was a gem....one of my friends is one of the owners.
Was in demolition over here Scotland very impressed with your recycling of goods.🎉. should have been doing that years ago back here but never had premises to accomodate such materials but great it adds up to profit margin allowing you to offer keaner price at estimate stage keep doing pods love watching and like that you keeping eye on those scrapyards there always trying to fuck and cheat you
Nice! With the recycling of materials it makes us fiercely competitive with the our competition just like you said. It's a win win for sure! Did you have a business in demo? Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Great walk through. Looks like the owners didn't give you a completion date as all the salvage is going to be time consuming before you start the actual tear down of the building. Are you planning to crush the concrete on site and spread it out there as re-useable structural fill for the next building? Are the piles staying in place after the grade beam is removed? Where does all the demo material go to in your area of Florida? I am in New England where a lot of demo material is ground up and re-purposed. Is that done in Florida with space and high water table affecting disposal sites? Good luck with this project.
Its in for permit, we were salvaging, and we got kicked off the job, first time on Fort Myers Beach, we will scrap it out, once the permit is issued. Maybe take a total of 5 days, its 60 or so windows and lots of other stuff. We will haul the concrete and we will remove everything and make the lot smooth and debris free....
Habitat for Humanity will come pick up the granite!! It would be a shame to demolish it. (Darker granite is making a comeback)
Agreed. As long as it's not brown then someone would be happy to use it for a fraction of what it would cost new. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Where is your warehouse where you sell these things. We have a condo that was damaged in Naples and wondering if anything you have could benefit us. Thanks

I have a family member that lived in Florida they experienced hurricane they said the hell of it they just had a company coming in and tore down the house and did not salvage nothing did not sell anything just tore down the house and they got a new home😊
Sadly that's the rule not the exception.....
Living in south Florida (Fort Lauderdale) I’m surprised that so many of the exterior doors in this video open inward. Was that not the code when this building was built or perhaps updated? Thank you.
Maybe was built before the code required that......thanks for watching.
On the 6th of March I watched you go through a mansion in Miami Beach. The house was demolished, very expertly I might add. You said you found pilings underneath the house. You said they couldn't be removed by your company. So I wondered, will the new owner use the pilings, or will the new owner have to put in new pilings before building a new house. I wrote a comment below the video, I have never received any response.
Not sure that we have left pilings. No piling would be a new to code application.
Those blinds that you're just taking down with your knife they're not only very expensive but they're easily rebuildable
Couldn't see it in the video they had mold spores on them....I really don't do well selling the blinds not sure why. www.reuseitpros.com

@@removeitprosdemolition I've reconsidered. Roller coaster calamity world.
Do you also take the steel and bring that to the scrap yard
Yes
Can you recover all the wood and sell it as fire wood or to make charcoal out of it? Would it be worth it?
Its not that I don't have enough room to store it to sell it.
@@removeitprosdemolitionI was thinking more like filling a shipping container at the location and shipping the container directly to a company that makes those small compressed wood pellets for stoves or some company that makes sawdust for horse barns and other places. if you're tearing all that down, I was thinking it's no that hard to cut 2 by 4 or some lengths that would be stacked nicely in a container.
Is the old Tropical Inn still there?
I am sorry to say IAN completely destroyed it.
I would buy that square lamp, it's gorgeous!
They do have a modern feel. Thanks for watching.
Service entrance wiring is copper? Not aluminum?
Not sure what you are talking about. What part of the video?
@@removeitprosdemolition you pointed at big conduits and said they were full of copper. Is that not service entrance?
How do you figure the time to remove all the items your keeping
With each crew it different, for example a window will be an hour for the first one and then 20 minutes for each after that.....typically. The first one is doing slow to not damage them and then you can run....
The first 20 seconds I thought "what? they can't be tearing down this cute building!" and then you show the aftermath. Yikes!
yep....
Dose saltwater premote. Mold ?
MORE OR LESS ?
Not sure moisture promotes mold. Not sure about salt water.
A friend shared this video. 😢Grateful she did but was painful, been looking for information on the Dolphin Inn. This was our family vacation home for over 50 years until life changed in 2022. It’s heartbreaking, that chapter is just gone. Also saddened to see the Hendrickson’s damage next store. Wondering, who bought the property? I never expected to get a play by play of the Dolphin Inn, thank you for the closure. I’ve been in every inch of that place. The room next to the office was our last spot from 2011 to 2022!
It's still owned by same guys.
Steve Boge? Just thinking are the parking lot big rocks still there, if so what happens to them? Also when you filled the pool, was the Dolphin removed or is it buried forever? Also did Steve remove the stone “ patio tables that had mosaic inlays” before the hurricane? Thanks for reply.
Well, it's going to be a bit depressing seeing all that wreckage for weeks on end as you dismantle. Can you reuse the 2 x 12 joists under the upper floor?
To much labor to dismantle it....unfortunately
Dave - really enjoy watching all the videos but the added dialog along the bottom really is annoying. Anyway you can have that as an option for viewers that want it? And yes, my Subtitles setting is Off.
We will look into that to see if that is an option for people who do or don't want it. Thanks for the feedback.
Lol, can't believe i saw this comment. i kept trying to turn the subtitles off. I will say that whoever edited them in did a good job.
@@leew8391 Thanks

No matter what you do- you will always get the complainers lol
Waaaaaaaa! :)
So are property taxes and condo fees suspended, or is everyone still paying on top of losses.
Of course not, there is some relief on property taxes I heard, but the condo fees are case by case, but they need all the money they can get to get these building back up.....its sad and overwhelming and there are new rules and laws that just came into play, its a real shxxshow.
What is the average time it takes insurance companies to approve a demo? Seems excessive and like something the state should legislate a maximum time to resolve a loss claim.
Most were quick there are a bunch of building on the beach that haven't been touched......so I am not sure.
Of all that was salvaged, how much profit was there after overhead like wages?
Varies and is not as much as you might think, provides jobs and stability for us.......labor is expensive...
Hello boys and your boss let's go get into stuff

So are the Insurance Companies still going to insure homes in Florida. Unlike California and fires?
The rates are up, but so far, yes, they are.
You must have a huge warehouse to put this stuff in.
It really not that big about 20,000 inside and out side storage. www.Reuseitpros.com if you want to check it out, you can get to the inventory from that website also.
Just sold my condo yesterday insurance condo fees r going to continue to skyrocket

They should just keep the water there instead of kerp pumping it back out Florida and sone other states well below sea lvl and should just be underwater. Then rebuild where ever that water settles instead of keeping building in flood zones.
The water recedes naturally after a flood. Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!
People knew this Hurricane was coming, because I new about it and I do not even live there, and they had more than enough time to get move this stuff.
Its the false alarms over and over, people just don't believe its going to hit this time....
Why did the pools need to be filled in or removed?
The location of them will rarely work for new buyer.
Just gave you a sub, like your videos, have you ever thought about smelting you brass copper aluminium and any gun metal you find will save you having to separate it in to piles for scrap yard, you will get better prices much better
I have been considering that we are going into our bust season looking for a bigger place.....need more room.
That was ugly before the storm 😎👊🏻🙏👍

Not sure we are near there???
All those beach towns are uninsurable now. Rebuilding is not reasonable.
It's so expensive it's ridiculous. Thanks for watching
😢
The Hurricanes happen so offen they should not offer insurance to these people. The reason insurance should not be offered is that insurance company raises my rates to pay for these homes. I had nothing to do with it. That way you would get the people that really could afford it to live there and the place would not be over crowded.
What about tornados, landslides and earthquakes, the insurance her is very expensive that's the cost of never-ending sunshine and outside activities.....worth it for me. I had 13 properties flood.....

-live in a place called tornado alley
-build wooden stick house

Might be? Would need to ask Taylon. Send me email and resume. dave@removeitpros.com
As long as they pay for it themselve then so be it. Having properties in dangerous locations driving up everyones cost of insurance is just wrong.

Huh??
Florida would be a beautiful place without all those gaudy ugly buildings

Pretty, but God almighty Florida just gets pounded every year. A lot of people there during and after Covid and I read about those people are leaving now. Specially with DickSantis screwing up the economy, insurance has tripled, same car insurance, HOA fees have doubled and wages are still low.
It's definitely not cheap living here. When the sun is shining and you're enjoying the warm weather that's hard to beat. Thanks for watching! Where are you from?
Climate change and rising sea levels will make properties in low lying areas and coastal areas impossible to insure. Banks will be reluctant to give a mortgage for 15 or 30 years because the property may be under water. Selling properties to average buyers will become impossible in the future as banks and mortgage companies stop making loans for these properties. Florida is a high risk state for insurance and extreme weather like hurricanes. People will have to self insure and take the risk of loss. Condo associations are losing their insurance and if they find a new higher cost policy they will be passing on the higher costs to association members. Flooded cars from Florida hurricanes were filling the salvage lots. Insurance companies will raise rates and pass on the costs and risks to policy holders next year.
Hear ya....
There will always be another storm

There are some indicators up here in the north that I can let you know about, and it's said. Not to many people want to relocate or own, down there in Florida. Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, are on the map now. I guess what I'm trying to say, and please, I'm not being crass here, but nobody NOW wants to put their investments into that state. My investment broker and many more are clawing to get out, and are at a loss when they sell. Your in the Land of Milk and Honey as far as Demo goes. It was one boss I worked for, that did exclusively disaster clean-up. He had a scripted wood plaque, on the wall behind his desk that read: " YOUR MISFORTUNE is MY FORTUNE".
I hear you I live here and there are too many people here now so I would not be sad about that. Unfortunately the statistics are showing quite the opposite. I am a general contractor, I am willing to take the risk. And it is a risk. And of course I am in the demo business.....enough said!!
