Disclaimer: I'm not a gypsy-jazz guitarist. The performance includes Nuages by Django Reinhardt, and Three Gypsy Etudes by Michael Horowitz.
Nicely done. Lovely, in fact. You know, I wanted to just hear this guitar because I'm thinking of buying one... and CZcams is stuffed with people strangling the poor thing.
I appreciate your just playing the thing nicely, pretty much the way it was built to be played.
Cheers, Allan. Deeply appreciated! They are fine guitars.
I came here thinking the exact same thing. Marvelous playing. You've recorded it beautifully as well. Thank you
@@chucksguitarshop Cheers, Chuck!
@@RobMacKillop1 You too my friend. Thank you again. Lovely music

One of the most beautiful gypsy jazz guitar I ever seen.
Thank you
Thanks Rob. Always look forward to your videos
And I your comments. Cheers!
Nice touch mate obrigardos
Beautiful guitar and tone it’s saw warm to play cross over blues Gypsy Jazz on that .gorgeous guitar beautiful rich ebony fingerboard .
Yes, it’s an excellent guitar for the price. Great quality, and shouldn’t be just restricted to GJ.
Great etudes and beautiful gypsy jazz guitar
Cheers, Shonzy. Appreciated!
Dear Rob. I really love the way you are rendering Django's compositions. Very personal. Best to you.
Cheers, Fred. Really appreciate. I'm no gypsy jazzer, but I love this music.
Amazing looking instrument
Beautiful Rob. You can play anything. And play it great.
Joe D.
Cheers, Joe.
That first etude sounds very much like the beginning of an Angelo Debarre song. La Vieux Tzigane if my memory serves me right. Amazing piece.
Well spotted, Gabriel. Each of the three studies is in the style of a different player. The first is "based on Angelo Debarre's arrangement of the Gypsy folksong, La Vieux Tzigan."
The second is "based on Boulou Ferré's interpretation of Django's Improvisation #3."
The third is based on unaccompanied guitar pieces by Bireli Lagrene and Fapy Lafertin.
That song by Debarre is the first gypsy jazz song I ever heard....I was lightning struck by its melody, its beauty and passion. What a great song!
Beautiful
Ta, Gilbert.
Thank You Rob for showing us different instruments and different sounds ...
And I thank you in return for your comments.
Could have fooled me! you are excellent! nice touch
Thanks!
Hey, it's Rob from RPF!
Subscribed, of course.
Indeed, it is. But who is Murray?
Murray is Murray I guess, from RPF, also. Leshner. Avatar there might be a steel-string Franken-uke with mustache bridge.
@@murrayatuptown353 Ah, Murray! I recognise the avatar - such is modern life! See you around!
Nice sound and style Rob, post some more Gypsy style videos
Unfortunately, not likely, I'm sorry to say. I have my fingers in too-many pies. Glad you liked it, though!
Enjoyed that thanks
Very Nice !!! 👌🏻
Merci, Francis!
@@RobMacKillop1 fait plaisir
Lovely, Rob!
Thanks again, Stanley...
Great looking finish
I'm in two minds about it. But it doesn't really bother me one way or the other. Sound and playability matter more, of course, but it helps if it looks good too.
Beautiful playing as always!!! Very very nice guitar!!!
Thank you, Spiros!
Says he isn't a gypsy jazz player then plays magnificently.
It's true that I'm not a gypsy player, in fact it hardly needed pointing out. Gypsy players have a different feel. I have my own. Glad you like it!
Pulling it out of the dim memory? Well done.
Thanks, Eric. Some tunes are less dim than others!
That was really nice!
I just ordered a copy of the book.
Good luck with it!
@@RobMacKillop1 Thank you!
Lovely sounds. I bought your The Loar 700 a few years ago, let me know whenever you want to sell this one ;-)
Haha. Join the queue :-)
bravo!
That's a particularly nice sounding manouche guitar!
It's very bright, but has a well-articulated bass too. Impressive.
Hi Rob,good Interpretation. The Arrangement is nice. It's from Daddy Stovepipe.I learned it too, it's amazing to play this piece.
Thanks. It's not from Daddy Stovepipe...
OK.It's your own?I like it very much.
No. Published in Django Unaccompanied by Michael Horowitz - available from DjangoBooks.com - Recommended.
Thank you for this tip.I will look after it.The Arrangement is identical. How you get the fingering?
I read the dots, not the tab, and work out my own fingering.
I didn't know Richard Harris could rip it up with gypsy jazz!
Hi Rob, Is there any genre of music you can't play?! I am continually amazed at what I hear and see you do!
I
Hi Steve. I hope you are well and thriving? I left Facebook a few months ago, so haven't kept up on your activity. Take care, Steve!
I did notice you missing on FB. We are doing fine, staying busy and moving along!
Good to know, Steve. Keep smiling :-)
You look great in colour and enjoyed your Django and etudes Rob 😊hope all is well under the stormy gales xx
Thanks, Cathy. The gales are not very strong here. Wet, though. Good to hear from you, Cathy.
Rob MacKillop Thanks Rob, you too..it's been pretty wet here too thankfully and our dams are filling again x
It sounds a little less sweet than a classical but it’s very woody
If you don’t mind my asking
What gauge and string brand are you using
I was thinking of buying a martin d15 but these gypsy guitar sounds so nice
Very nice...it's true though, GAS gets worse as we get older!
Oi. Who's getting older?! :-)
Hi Rob, lovely. Are you still enjoying the guitar?
My good man! You are really getting some choice gear.
Sold my Taylor to pay for it.
@@RobMacKillop1 good trade!
@@RobMacKillop1
I agree, very good trade. The instrument fits you as well as the archtops.
Guitar has pretty good tone. :-)
Brilliant!!!
How is the action on your Eastman?
Excellent, where can I get that Nuages arrangement?
Unaccompanied Django from DjangoBooks.com
Get fed up with the strumming? xD
Great video :)
I was just showing what it might sound like when strummed. It's a fun instrument!
It sounds great :)
👏👍👴
Cheers, Hector.
I missed your statement on the price?
You didn't miss it, as I didn't say. £950 including gig bag.
Rob MacKillop
That’s a great price I think.
What kind of strings do you use? Nice playing
