Django Reinhardt was an amazing guitarist, and the fact that he did it with an injured hand is mind-boggling. It's not my usual musical style but the skill involved is awe-inspiring.
He was known for playing Jazz on an Acoustic Guitar, he rejuvenated that popularity. He even did it w/ 3 Fingers after his last 2 were paralyzed in an Accident.
I like the sound of this guitar. Very different from what I usually play, but still awesome.
I would suggest check out the Rosenberg Trio. Stochelo Rosenberg is regarded as one of best Gypsy guitarist. Once you cut your teeth on these brothers slaying it you’ll discover the multitude of other great guitarist playing this flavor. The swing and bossa grooves are infectious to hear and a blast to play. Studying this music has made me a better guitarist and musician. I promise you won’t regret spending your time and money. Acoustic Letter
I love this Acoustic Guitar, I've experimented w/ Black Diamond Silver Wound Strings which sound amazing. They're the same material as Gypsy Jazz Guitar Strings (Silver Plated Copper) so they have a really strong percussive sound.
Any chance there will be an arch-top guitars covered?
I've always wondered, what type of strings are on one of these gypsy guitars?
Russ Schuett if I'm not mistaken,gypsy jazz players,traditionally have used arch top jazz guitars which are usually strung with flat wound strings.This guitar,to me, looks more like a flat top They didn't say if it is or not.
@@kennybluet5527 It is indeed a flat top, based on the pre-war Maccaferri design. Strings used on this type of guitars are generally light gauge Savarez "Argentine" strings. They are roundwounds and nickel-silver plated. www.savarez.com/argentine-boule-1610
Generally silver wound strings. Not flat wounds by any means. As much as it’s a jazz guitar, the tone generally comes from the materials used on the body being spruce and the sound holes even playing part. O shaped holes are generally played by soloists as they have better attack and D hole is generally for rhythm. But the D hole are a bit more versatile tone wise and have a better bass range giving you more options than just gypsy.

These guitars use some kind of silver wound or silk & steel strings, don't they? I've played a couple of Gitane gypsy models. They feel like a cross between classical strings and regular acoustic strings.

I don't know? I think playing bluegrass and fiddle tunes on that jazz box sounds great. Maybe my old hearing has finally shot craps.
