I was there last month, September 2022, and saw Jim Morrison's grave and a few others famous people. I love the cemetery. I could walk around for hours looking at the tomb stones. Well worth a visit if you go to Paris.

In Paris stands a sacred ground,
Where time and fame have intertwined,
    Père Lachaise, where stories abound,
    Celebrities of varied kind.
Amongst the shadows and the stone,
Lie legends of the arts and lore,
A resting place for souls well-known,
    Whose echoes linger evermore.
Here rests a poet with quill in hand,
    Verses etched upon their soul,
Their words still drifting through the land,
In Père Lachaise's embrace they're whole.
Musicians too have found their peace,
    Composers whose melodies still soar,
    Their harmonies will never cease,
In the quiet of this hallowed floor.
Actors and actresses of the stage,
Whose presence graced both screen and scene,
They left their mark on history's page,
In this haven where their spirits convene.
    Politicians, thinkers, side by side,
    Ideas and speeches left behind,
    In this cemetery, they reside,
    A testament to humankind.
    Père Lachaise, where memories thrive,
In monuments that touch the sky,
    Visitors from all walks arrive,
To pay respects as time goes by.
So as we stroll these storied lanes,
    Amongst the mausoleums grand,
We feel the weight of history's reins,
In Père Lachaise, a timeless land.

The marble bust was there when I took a picture of Jim Morrison's grave in 1985. It's a massive cemetery. I enjoyed your tour.

Great tour of Père Lachaise. Père Lachaise has so many fascinating tombs. There is one rather recent grave from November 2015 that makes me tear up when I stop at it. It's Suzon Garrigues. She was 21 years old on 13 November 2015. She was inside the Bataclan.

Came here for this comment. I was last week in there and came upon that grave by accident but it did impressed me and that was the one that simply touched me the most. I went especially for Morrison s grave and was at George Enescu- but Garrigues made me feel so sad.

I've been to Pere Lachaise many times and have watched a few CZcams tours. Your virtual tour was, by far, hands down, the best tour of this wonderful Paris treasure. It was so well-paced and so informative. It makes me want to revisit the cemetery on my next trip to Paris.

This is a wonderful tour of the cemetery. I lived in Paris in 2014. I highly recommend that you consider doing a guided tour of the cemetery rather than trying to do it with a map. The cemetery is huge. And as in the video, your guide can give you many more facts. Very well done, and I loved your voice.😊

I could have spent three days there, its breathtaking..my favorites were the large monument with people walking into the tomb (sign of imminent death?) And one with a mantle inside for a young child near the exit. You must go.

You really ought to make an effort to pronounce the name of this cemetery. It's not difficult for a speaker of English to say "pear la shez." Great tour nonetheless.
