    Love this sketch, every time I mispronounce words (on purpose) for my grand-children. "Skizzors" for Scissors and "Saw sages" for Sausages etc. When my "Girls" have a spelling test they do brilliantly!

      I worked teaching Spanish and English languages.
      Playing with words is an excellent help for students and it even develops their sense of humour.
      Bit by bit, of course.

    I knew he pronounced Alibi wrong but couldn't remember the correct way myself. No wonder. I was schooled in french before english and i think i may have said it his way often

    I had trouble with 'epitome' when I was young. I saw it written before I heard it pronounced, and thought it was 'ep-i-twam'.

      For me it was misled, which I assumed rhymed with fizzled. Can work the other way round too - I remember thinking there was a word (spelt) kayos.

      When I was a kid, I got mad when I discovered there is no "q" in "choir" (well not in that one, "quire" is a measure of writing paper).
      and for a while I thought "doughty" was pronounced more or less the same as "dough".

    Seems so slow compared to 2022 comedy. The style today is to move on to something else the moment (or even just before) the audience gets what’s going on. Back then they kept bobbing into the same barrel to bring out more apples, some good, some bad.
