â The high-speed Swiss VPN you can trust âĄïž cnews.link/get-proton_5/
Proton VPN and Proton Mail, theoretically, should tick off two privacy boxes at once - private browsing and secure communication. A great answer to how to stay anonymous online, or⊠is it? Letâs get into this ProtonVPN + ProtonMail review.
---------------------------------------------
đ© Proton Mail Security
Now, letâs kick this off with a Proton Mail review and jump straight into their privacy and security evaluation. Their main data center is under 1,000 meters of pure granite rock. But from a private email perspective, itâs pretty cool that Proton is open-source.
đ© Proton Mail features
I was able to apply email encryption and I found self-destructing messages, if you want some extra secure email communication. But if you get a free plan, thereâs not much else and everything is restricted: limited storage, limited messages, folders, labels, etc etc. The Proton Plus plan improves on each one of these aspects, but only the Visionary plan comes with a premium VPN.
---------------------------------------------
đ§Ș Is Proton VPN safe?
Both Proton VPN free and premium versions have the same level of security. Protonâs jurisdiction lies in a privacy-friendly Switzerland, plus, they have an audited no-logs policy. Their encryption is also up to standards - either the standard AES-256 or the modern ChaCha20 cipher, depending on the tunneling protocol.
đ§Ș Proton VPN features
I like to use their fancy-named double VPN functionality Secure Core. If you want to go above and beyond for anonymity, then they have the Tor over VPN feature. Donât expect the best VPN speeds though. Also, streaming support is there, but it only works with the premium version.
---------------------------------------------
Final thoughts âĄïž
As I said, this is not a ProtonMail vs ProtonVPN comparison, but rather a bundle review. As no cybersecurity tool is foolproof, using them in conjunction is actually a great idea - but which provider to choose is completely up to you.

Fake discount!
Exactly the same price but it says 50% off lol
Hint for viewers: Proton Visionary is a legacy product and can usually not be purchased anymore. Only way it during this Black Friday Deal and only if you are already on an Unlimited plan. Then and only then, you'll get the offer to upgrade!
Proton mail is fantastic - Iâve had it for over a year. Lost (forgot) my password and couldnât recover my old emails which I considered a plus
Proton Mail is super clean. Very minimalistic. Very secure and private. Yes, I use it. I would not get the VPN as I do not want all my eggs in one basket.
Why not use it on a separate account?
@@julianocc all eggs will still be in one basket because everything is still with Proton.
@@Hmza92 ah okay, so if Proton has a breach in general. IVPN is cool too
@@julianocc exactly.
@@Hmza92 what do you use ? Ivpn ? Mudvall ? What you think of brave vpn for pc ?
Proton mail has AMAZING customer service in my experience they respond very quickly
That's very true!
I have the vpn and constantly getting thrown off that I need to reconnect
Has Proton gotten a different group of people running it during the last year or so?
FYI, these discount coupons are nothing different to what Proton usually offers.
Hoping Proton offers Black Friday specials, that would definitely sign me up for their premium bundle
@@speedracer9132 you're correct but the links he has provided are misleading and offer no special discount
@@ptbauro true! They offered me 50%discout on VPN, 60 dollars for a 2-year deal plus 4 months free.
I use their service I hate that VPN is included in bundle deal cause I pay for a different VPN service. I happen to use cyber ghost I enjoy my dedicatter servers. But proton only has option through a company one
Aaaahh. Yeah. Thatâs fair. I use their whole suite so I like it. But you are absolutely right. Some modularity would be great.
@@dr.professor5487 Yeah I tried proton VPN honestly it's great for free. But in the modern world I love my fast sercers and dedicated servers plus gaming on a VPN. And proton just doesn't do it for me. I also use mullvad as well
How can i connect the ProtonVPN(free version) to xbox with hotspot?
Cause i succesfully connected it to my xbox but the NAT type is not open.
Unfortunately, using the free version of ProtonVPN with a mobile hotspot likely won't achieve an Open NAT type on your Xbox. This is due to limitations on both the free VPN and mobile hotspot functionality. You can use Moderate NAT when you upgrade to premium plan in ProtonVPN.
When both the email and the VPN services are provided by the same company, it becomes easier for government officials to access your data, if necessary. Only one request is required in such a scenario :)
They cannot hand over the data or the content, because they are stored with zero access encryption, and since it is based in Switzerland neither the US or the EU have jurisdiction. Only the Swiss authorities can authorize something which then it has to go to a Swiss Federal Court. Most of the times, I would say 8/10 they do not even care, because they know people just want some privacy, except if someone tries to use it for malicious purposes. So when a government asks for data, it has to state a reason, to the Swiss authorities. Proton Technologies only answer to the Swiss authorities.

Japan vpns work on netflix now
Topic is about reliability of the service and the videos is more like a feature review. Give me my time back.

ProtonVPN fucked up my connection to the internet. Poor help troubleshooting. Ever since downloading it (having long uninstalled it) any online game I play has unplayably-frequent disconnects. (COD Modern Warfare, League of Legends, Vermintide II, Valorant, Pokemon Showdown, Overwatch 2) I've reached out to my ISP, reset my modern and router, checked for updates on my network adapters, flush/renewed my dns, factory reset my PC!!! and countless others. Still no fix, all I know is it happened exactly after getting Proton
@Winter Captain still not fixed on me
Shouldn't you have used split tunneling?
If you are using Windows try doing a network reset. This will allow you to setup a fresh network configuration be aware doing this deletes all network adapter settings..
Netherland free server is fast lol I can search private stuff
I really wish yâall would have pushed these guys and their Black Friday sale, Iâve never been happier than splurging for the unlimited package. Good news is they have extended the Black Friday sale if yâall want to make a video or anything
How about a list of products and services that DON'T have both a free and paid version. As someone that lives on disability benefits in this economy even a $5 subscription is too much. Fully free and fully functional with no locked features.
Including legally questionable services.
This guy is just against Proton for some strange reason LOL. Made multiple videos on the subject.... like we get it. lol
proton vpn paid slows a lot
No, you can not trust Proton anymore than any other VPN. In fact a number of other both free and paid (although most are a lot cheaper than Proton) are just as good or better than Proton. One that comes to mind if Surfshark which is actually much better, has more features, and is MUCH cheaper. Another is Nord VPN which although not as good as Surfshark, is just as good or better than Proton and of course MUCH cheaper. I could go on with many more.
