Jose Gonzalez is soo Underrated
WOW! Just learned about this guy tonight!
[Verse 1]
Idle as it seemed
Trudging through the mist
Following the creeks
Erasing dim lines on the list
[Verse 2]
Eager to arrive
Leaving footprints in the clay
Reading rocks and vines
Telling indigo from grey
Telling indigo from grey
[Pre-Chorus]
Scattered rays of light
On dust grains in the air
All berries in the tree
Earn a steady flare
[Chorus]
Among the mirrors of the scene
Some appear frail and incomplete
In a vast field of bales she runs
From the deepest valley past the sun
[Pre-Chorus]
Opening up the vault
To find spinning tops in play
Embedded nested yarn
Diverting from the gates
[Chorus]
But once the faint elusive moans
Evaporate in the morning light
All deserted yearnings come to life
Surface from the dark to realize
How in a vast field she runs
From the deepest valley past the sun
[Verse]
All this time
Witness to the changing tides
All the while
Finding ways how to make sense of all the lights
To shake the winds
To shake the currents and the rigid hives we're living in
All this time
Witness to the changing tides
[Outro]
Idle as a wave
Moving out at sea
Cruising without sound
Molding what's to be
Serene between the trails
Serene with the time and ink of a ghost
This is too beautiful not to shed a tear...
I love Jose’s music. He must be connected to some higher energy source or something. It seems to touch people deeply. I have tickets for his show in November. I have to remember to bring Kleenex.
Wow, as a person who is a BIG fan of Nick Drakes music, I am very impressed by this.
Yes! I was thinking the same thing about him
Coming back to this song years later, such an amazing nostalgic feeling. Love this song.
Love him so so much
Beautiful melody
I find this to be the hardest song to play by him because of the rhythm, but glad to see he also has his troubles with playing it (he messes up two times) :D
I have tried to learn this as well, really hard to get the rhythm.
Just playing this is super hard. Singing over it is 100x harder.
The ability to play and sing this requires a sublime talent. I consider Jose Gonzalez to be the absolute apex of the introverted singer/songwriter genre. His playing, the understated vocal delivery and poetic, meaningful lyrics are a truly wonderous combination to experience.
I'm okay playing it. I can't sing it at the same time though 😞
he is allowed to change the rhythm buddy
One of my many favourites
Always amazing, José. Brilliant.
I love this song!
Beautiful.

el silvio de los europeos
verdad
José died but he resurrected with this music shaped on his soul
This scared me so bad... He isn't dead. I thought for a second you were saying he was.
god damn it, you can't just casually play along, no...fuckin...you gotta guess the tuning, get a capo....once you start playing a jose song, you're jsut stuck in that tuning for that one track...ok, I'll do it...it might just be the e string tuned down a whole step..but then why the capo...god damn it...
It's in drop d. The capo I imagine is for the melody to fit his vocal range. Nevertheless what blows my mind is how you come up with a progression like that and start singing along to it. I imagine he constructed the whole thing in steps. First just the melody with the bass notes and some simple high notes and then start adding until ending with this amazing and incredible hard fingerstyle arpeggio.
@@gustafsonest1306 The original song is impressive, bit this fiddling around makes complete sense to me. I do that...I learn to play someone's song and if it's in a different tuning, I continue to play around wothin those chords, different...I'm not musically literate, what's the word...different timing, different ways of playing...and then after a few months, I have a song of my own...I wait until it's far enough from the original that it isn't a rip-off, although I know it techixally is, because I would never have come up woth that tuning on my own...and I admit it, I tell people and most people think it's a good idea and don't consider it stealing. Try it for yourself and let me know how it went.
