  • First time I’m getting the chance to ride my Xtrainer back on these trails. Very hilly terrain with some good hill climbs, lots of off camber riding, trees to hop and creeks to cross. My favorite type of riding and what I got this bike for.

What a great ride, I would have loved to have been there.

I am so jealous of your riding areas. That is an awesome place to ride. I’d get back in there and would be lost…….

If I wasn’t with my buds here, I would be lost too lol

Thinking the same great back yard to play in on any bike

So what do you think about the x trainer ? Looks perfect for the terrain your riding in. But what about when the speed gets faster and more whooped out. I’m in mi. And we we have a lot of sandy trails , that are more flowing and faster.

I absolutely love this bike, but I ride a lot of slower technical stuff with some open flowy stuff thrown in. The flowing singletrack feels really good but when it gets to be 4th and 5th gear speeds on open trail or quad trails it can get a little twitchy because it’s softly sprung and has a shorter wheelbase. I rarely hit that stuff so it’s not really an issue for me but something to consider. The 300RR might be better for you. The biggest selling point for me on the Xtrainer is the short seat height, light weight and it’s ability to lug like a trials bike yet does 55 all day on the roads if needed. Check to see if they have a beta demo day near you. I think the beta website lists them. Ride a couple and get a feel for them first hand.

@@Garage2Trail thanks for the comeback. That just about what I was thinking in your description. I would love the lower seat hight and weight though. Yes I have been keeping an eye out for a demo day . Thank you.

It depends on your weight too. As you approach the 200lbs mark the fast rough or fast with jumps will bottom out the suspension. I am 180 before I get dressed to ride. Coat boots ect ect and that is about the limit on the XT on fast rough stuff.
But I agree the XT is really good on slow technical stuff. That low end grunt is almost like a 4 stroke. And the bike is so lightweight it makes it easier to ride . I had a Yamaha WR250R for 1 year and I hated it. I bought it because everyone and the magazine tests said it was a great bike.
I do ride very fast on fire roads that are very rough with rocks and potholes everywhere and I am impressed how well the XT can run at 60mph and faster on these roads. Sliding sideways under full throttle coming out of the corners scares the hell out of me. But that’s what riding a dirt bike is all about for me.
I did install Tubless on the front and the back because I found the suspension on the XT soft over jumps but very harsh over potholes and rocks. The Tubless system fixed that issue.
The XT has oil injection but I find that runs to lean on the oil for my liking. My riding buddies say they never see any smoke from the exhaust so I add oil to the gas too. I have had to refill the oil tank so I know the injection is working. I just don’t like a 2 stroke running that lean. 25 hours and haven’t fouled a plug.

Just bought a 24 after watching your videos, are you running the stock tires ?

Nice! I should be a salesman foe these things lol. Yeah as of now I’m still running the stock tires. I find that when I air the rear down to like 7 or 8 lbs, maybe even 6, it climbs so much better. Just gotta mind the high speed hits. My friend with the same bike is running tubliss with an IRC rear and that makes it even better.

Are you still using the oil injection? Any issues?

    • @Garage2Trail
      @Garage2Trail  Před 2 měsíci

Yes I am. No problems at all. I made sure to use dielectric grease on the ECU and pump connectors before I even rode the bike for the first time though.

@@Garage2Trail Thank you for the reply. I’m picking one up this week. I hear of some running 100:1 mix with the oil injection but to me that defeats the purpose. I know the dealer personally and he’s putting dielectric grease on all connections. He said they do it on all their bikes they sell. Love your videos. Psyched to be getting one.

@jonesy1780 that’s awesome! You’ll love it. I’m a bit over a year into mine and I still don’t feel like I need anything else. Just did a beta demo ride and thought I’d be ready for a 300RR but I’m still not as comfortable on the XT. The 10% smaller frame is key I think. I’m a shorter guy at 5’8” so it just fits me perfect.

      @@Garage2Trail I’m also 5’8” and 155lbs. Sounds like it’ll be a perfect fit.

@jonesy1780 and it’s sprung for someone right around your weight too I believe. You’ll love it.
