    Oh wow man that bike so cool! Back in '82 I wanted one so bad, they were blue and white in '82. But I already had an '81 TS185 and was still paying for it so I never got the DR250! So this video is awesome to see!

      Glad you enjoyed it! The TS was probably a more fun bike at that point to be honest. The DR was pretty tame in ‘85 at least. A great cruiser and trail/farm bike though.

    I owned a TT250 and KLX250 but not a DR250. Cool bike

    I Didn't realize there was that many trails in the north hills, you're close to my school

    Wish I lived closer as it would very interesting to see you review my little Templar X. Its an air cooled 250 4stroke with a counterbalanced motor, 6speed and fully adjustable suspension for 2g new. Yes its a dreaded China bike but the damn thing really seems to punch well above its weight. My normal ride is a Beta 300rr so it's not that i dont know how a bike is supposed to perform. Its strange to admit that i might actually have more fun pushing the lower performance bike to its limits than my "real bike"? Please don't stop making content as your work is fantastic.

      Seems some of those Chinese bikes have gotten better. They are doing a better job at copying the Japanese lol. And thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate the support.

    Mate the Suzuki DR250 85 model was unreal, I rode one and she survived me and that's saying something, ur absolutely right about the air filter, mine got the same treatment, really made a big difference. I actually miss it, got a Yamaha now and she's got big cohoonas.😲

      That’s good to know, thank you! The DR is a nice bike regardless of its lack of punch!

    The bike did pretty good! I saw it pop up for sale on Facebook the other day, solid deal. Would love to try those trails at some point, though I don't know how well I would do, haha.

    Nice bike.
    That's a cake walk for that thing.
    Are little click was joking around wanting to buy ttr125's and do our 10-20 mile loops that take all-day on a prepped bike, just to make it more challenging

    • @Garage2Trail
      @Garage2Trail  Před 20 dny +1

      The only parts this bike couldn’t do were the long steep hill climbs. Other than that it handled it…just very heavy to throw around in a lot of that stuff.

  • @JyveKilla
    @JyveKilla Před 17 dny

    it seems very tall geared, you could drop a tooth on the front sprocket and it would wake up a lot

    I had an 83 DR100, mowed a lot of lawns for that bike and it was such a disappointment due to its gutless motor and inferior suspension it was sold just a few months after buying it. Bought an 84 KX80 immediately afterward and never looked back.

    • @Garage2Trail

      I can’t believe how much the XR has over it to be honest. The XR200 feels better to me everywhere! Still a nice little cruiser though!

    I have the exact same bike. I was wondering if that valve click is normal or if that is just the nature of it?

    • @Garage2Trail
      @Garage2Trail  Před 18 dny +1

      Yeah I think it is…I adjusted the valves a gazillion times when I was trying to diagnose the no start problem I was having so I know they are in spec. My XRs have the same click. Better to hear a click than nothing and have them be too tight anyways!

      @@Garage2Trail okay thanks. I have three of the 1985 dr250 I got from a guy. One's just a frame though. I've had a hard time finding the side panels or the headlight. I put a rmx 250 headlight on mine. It's a pretty fun bike. Did the same thing trying to mess with the valves over and over but seems like it's just the nature of it.

  • @upchuckchops

    I've ridden very little off road, but never in tight trails with trees all around like that. Is it difficult for beginners to avoid target fixation and not run into every tree? Serious question, because watching the video I keep looking at trees and thinking "don't hit them, don't hit them."

    • @Garage2Trail
      @Garage2Trail  Před 20 dny +1

      Hey Chuck, honestly I don’t know if I can answer because I learned back there. I can see for someone coming from road bikes looking at trees like that. The camera also gives the effect that I’m closer to some than I really am on occasion.
