I am at end of second growing season with this model used with BCS853 tractor. I have the rotary plow too but I find the rotary harrow combined with bed shaper meet 95% of my tillage needs. I'm not as young as I used to be and have arthritis in my hands and I like having some weight on the front but as video says, weight up front can interfere with proper tillage and packing. If I'm harrowing deep I'll sometimes make a second pass with harrow barely touching to pack the seedbed. I've tried resting a foot or standing on the harrow for better packing but not a particularly brilliant maneuver for a variety of reasons and I don't recommend doing so.

Excellent tool, been useing them for years. A must for any serious Landscaper. I use a 14hp diesel tractor, I stand on the tool when working. I am too lazy to walk, the extra wieght gets a better job done.

I turn new ground with a moldboard plow to kill the roots. Then I go over it with a Troy Built Horse. I'm really lusting for one of these. Will the power harrow work to go over the moldboard plowed ground ,or would I still need to get the BCS tiller and use it first? For many years the Troy Built was the bomb ,but after several back surgeries and recently a wreck that I now have a corpse's knee and other bones in my leg it's making handling the Troy Built really hard. I love the finished beds from the power harrow but no one has talked or showed it plowing deep.

    I have a b.c.s. 718. I believe 6.5 h.p. do you make a small one that it would power ?

great run through thanks Joel. question. I have a 1980s Valpadana VMC 150 reversible with what I believe is a 1 3/8" 6 spline shaft. do R2 make a power harrow unit for that PTO set up and/or is there an adaptor to bolt over the 1 3/8" shaft into the 3 prong bcs style system?

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes, R2 makes PTO flanges to fit virtually every Italian-made walking tractor. We can order any of the flanges for you.

How would this do on red clay?

    • @rbbiefah

as long as its dry it will do superbly
if wet / damp it will clog right up

It does what any implement does on red clay: it works, but not as well as it would on nicer soil! We have clay-base (more of a tan clay) soil here, though, and we find it works fine.
