    Brings back memories. Going on holiday with a few friends back in the day!!. And being a plane geek I thought the 767 was a stunning aircraft.

    I loved flying Britannia when I was a child. It was my favourite airline at the time.

    This is literally from my childhood. I cannot believe that this very same jet, the 767 is already on its way out. God.... I AM getting old.

      I flew on one of these the same year this was filmed. As a kid who loved airplanes, I was super impressed and so excited to fly on the then-new 767-200. Britannia’s 767-200’s had a digital Mach meter at the front of the cabin, just like Concorde. Also, being a tourist airline, those bastards squeezed in extra seats, with 2+4+2 seating instead of the 2+3+2 that mainline carriers used.

    I went to Majorca on a Britannia Airways 767 in 1986. The plane was spacious and modern. There was a large screen showing the flight plan, speed and altitude. The service was much better back then. Always enjoyed flying with Britannia.

    Britannia had such a lovely looking livery that suited all their different fleet of aircraft. Love to go back in time to when they operated the noisey B737-200s

    When we did the Jumbos, I sometimes had to clean the cockpit - So tempting to sit in the Captain's seat and pretend you were flying it, but for obvious reaons we weren't allowed to touch anything.

    Britannia had 2-4-2 seating in their 767s unlike the usual 2-3-2 seating configuration normally used in the 767.

    Just shows how the priorities have changed. “Airlines design large galleys to make the service quicker”. Not any more. Nowadays BA have the smallest A350 galley possible in order to cram in a few more seats and the meal service takes forever as a result and they don’t have the space for a full second service on the longer flights.

      Nick Cockayne - agree with what you’re saying but also more likely they could sell more duty free quicker when it used to exist and make more profit that way!

    These are amazing advances in airline services . Better than those old clapped out Ryanair flights all squashed up and no room or champagne like on these new aircraft. I will be flying in future on these planes for sure. I will pick up a brochure from Brittanica airlines .

    • @Ben-xe8ps
      @Ben-xe8ps Před 2 lety

      Room? This holiday charter airline has configured the 767 2 X 4 X 2 while all the scheduled airlines at the time configured their 767's 2 X 3 X 2. As for champagne, not sure what is going on here but believe me free champagne as absolutely NOT a normal part of the service aboard Britannia airways package holiday charter flights.
      Its Britannia not Britannica and is now known as TUI.

    Britannia Airways I can still remember the old Bristol Britannia prop jobs going over my house in Stevenage into Luton . Then I payed £5 quid for a special flight on an Ian Allan charter flight on a Britannia Airways B737-200 Flight to Cardiff via bristol and back when they had just introduced the 737 . And when they introduced the B720 / 707 I think it was it just rolled on from their . What a shame Britannia has gone .
