- Yeti Roadie 20 Ice retention test.
Yeti recommends pre-cooling or "priming" the cooler prior to use. I used 2 frozen water bottles for 5 hours prior to the ice test. I would generally recommend using more bottles for longer to cool the cooler as close to the temperature of the ice prior to use as possible. 2 bottles is an easy test that everyone has the ability to replicate and use. I typically will freeze non-alcoholic beverages prior to putting them in the cooler. I also have arctic ice packs that I use instead of or in addition to ice. I expect much better results priming the Yeti for a longer time and by using arctic ice, standard ice, and cold beverages all together. - Jak na to + styl
Perfect!!! Thanks all these yeti reviews you nailed it.thats what I needed to know
Great video I got that same cooler for my birthday from my wife and I'm not supposed to know yet😀😀👍👍👍👍 cheers
Love the performance video - exactly what I wanted to learn. Had to watch 5 ineffective videos before I got to yours. Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time out to perform this test. I love my Yeti Roadie 20. It works great and lives up to all the hype. Take care.
thanks for the comment, 4 days in the direct sunlight 100f seems pretty impressive! I'm pleased for sure
In spite of all of the comments, this video still gives you an idea of what to expect. Just think, in the shade and cooler temps, ice would even last longer. Good review. Thanks.
how can it be below freezing but not frozen?
this is a standard outdoors test, pre chilling the cooler, placing it in the shade, using dry ice... are some other ways to get even better results
It's possible that your thermometer was not designed to be submerged under water, or it is just out of calibration. But it would not be reading 30 deg F unless you had salt or alcohol mixed in with the water or some other additive.
it didn't even register with me until the 1st comment on the page. I don't believe the ready ice had any additives. Looks like the thermometer is out of calibration. Guess the "ice" aspect of the test is still definitely valid
i feel sorry for this guy, what type of weather is that?

no ice and 30? thought water froze at 32F?
anyone have any ideas? faulty thermometer, negative pressure(suction), or additives in the ice bags dropped the phase change temperature..?
I guess regardless, the fake away is that the "ICE" retention was roughly 4 days in 100f direct sunlight.
Thermometer calibration likely. You can supercool water. But it would have re froze as soon as it was disturbed.
Yes, Now I realize the massive mis-calibration
also does the cooler leak water if tipped on its side?
none at all! water and air tight
I believe this review i own the pink yeti and i put maybe half of an ice bag into my cooler it lasted me 12 hours minimal melting (thats how long i used it for 12 hrs) and i still could have left water in there and woken up to ice cold water!!!! So worth the money and hype!!!
Here is my ice retention test of the Hopper Two: czcams.com/video/9_3rbTPUgP4/video.html
Kameron A for a 20 qt what would u recommend I drive a truck and need ice 5-6 days don’t want any bigger than 20 qt
RockyTopTn4life Go Vols the roadie is way better for ice retention vs the hopper but is by far heavier and more bulky.
Kameron A think it’s the best overall 20 qt ? And ya think will hold ice 5-6 days ? Pelican Orca etc or yetti is best?
Bullshit review 😂😂😂
