- A lot more groundwork! Some saddle desensitizing... tacking up today... more movement... and we took the first few steps towards mounting bareback!
No, she does not have a name yet (I also don't need anymore suggestions, thank you :) for all the ones suggested!)
I realize that I could probably be on this mustang by now... but I don't want to skip any steps and I'm not in a crazy rush. I want to make sure she's comfortable and confident with what we're doing before I move on.

I love that you’re not rushing her, even if you could get away with it. You are setting her up for success by making sure she gets all the fundamentals. This speaks volumes of a trainer!👏🏻

Well, join up sure isn’t a problem with this girl! She sure seems level headed and calm, and seems to trust you almost completely. When you were acting like you were going to put the saddle on her she seemed to be wondering why you didn’t just hurry up already. Sometimes I wish I knew what they were thinking. She is going to be a steady, calm and trustworthy horse, for sure.

I agree. I think for adults with ptsd, also. Her trusting, calm nature would help so many people to learn to trust again.

Looks like she has some draft horse in her bloodline, and is she a blood bay? She's such a sweet girl, her future owner, whoever they may be are going to be incredibly lucky to have her.
I doubt there is draft there....but maybe some " carriage horse " lineages

Sam VanFleet I just gonna say you have inspired me and you deserve everything you have given me more courage to say that I am going to do this with my horse. I now have more trust In my mare. We do now ride but we are going to work on that. I have already taught her to be patient so she turns her head away from me when I have a treat. I am teaching her to bow as well. Thank you. Thank you for everything .

I’m pretty bummed I’ve been waiting 2 years for the Mustang Makeover to come to Los Angeles, and it’s been cancelled/ both times :-( would have been this weekend...Good luck at the virtual event, that is one sweet, willing horse!
Can’t wait to see where this kid goes! She’s definitely lazy but so smart and such a fast learner. What a shame so many horses are three strike mostly because they are just a ‘basic’ color. 🥺❤️

Right now about 1 hour
This is a Modoc County ( California) mustang, transferred to Ridgecrest Ca holding area....the employees of both facilities really try to start socialization with the strange " humans" early on

This horse is so calm already ur already leaning and putting lots of pressure on her back and had a saddle on to me that’s very fast.
Ur talent and patience R nice to watch n learn from . How does one go about getting a mustang from u ? I'm sure there's some type of paper work through the government with the registration process . If I don't get a response from u perhaps I can google the process . LOL .

Hi I have a question.. what’s your top for a big horse who can’t be tied up.. he have a gelding 2000 pounds around big strong horse and he broke a fence post and it was a big post 1-2 feet on each side. And he ripped it to peace’s. We tried different things..
I like this overvoice but I really recomend doing it in maybe a closet or some where there is not too much open space.
Do you have any tips for someone thinking of getting a mustang?
What is 3 strike? I know nothing about Mustangs, I'm in Australia. I've watched every video of this mare's journey. Learnt about Mustang Makeover (how cool) and about to subscribe. I had horses years ago and bred ¾ Arabians with my part Arabian mare. This is a feel good channel, Sam you are a really good trainer.

Tiki was a name of a lesson horse that acts a lot like her! Pretty lazy mare she was 😂

So does # 7906 have a name yet? A lot of red in her coloration isn't there? She's going to do well, it appears to me.
When I ask my horse for a side pass he backs up🤷♀️ I’ve even tried pressing on his shoulder instead of his rib cage and it didn’t work.
Maybe work on a different cue? It seems that he thinks what you're asking for means backing up
She didn't know quite what to do when you started jumping and patting around, it seems you have won her complete trust.
I think it’s great that your moving fast but you’re not shoving things at her. I feel like a lot of people would have been on her on day 4 with how good she’s been but then they’d probably have had a blow up somewhere. You can tell she really understands and is comfortable with her new job and relationship with people.

How many days to take a complete training
Yup! This is a 100 day training challenge but that doesn’t necessarily mean her training will be over, she will still be fairly green so Sam will likely look for a good home with someone confident in continuing training a younger green horse when she rehomes her after the challenge. Hope this helps! 😁
@@RideMyWay I wondered what happened to them afterwards. The challenge seems like a great way to encourage people to train them so they are tame enough to go to loving homes, especially since there has been a decline in adoptions.

She is doing a program, she trains them so they are more adoptable by people who cannot train. If she keeps them she can’t train more. She trains them so the horses can have a better life with people at home instead of in a pen for the rest of their lives
