Pioneer fanboy here and Denon has me listening. The go may be my first foray in. Been looking for something to take on train and to beach. They nailed it. Pioneer. Hope you scared to death today. honestly you would be better off with a ddj-200 and a small usb battery. you probably already have a phone so you have a screen and processor in your pocket and you will save $800. but hey if you wan't to spend $1000 on this go for it. It's nice and denon is a good company.

@@FearRuano cables and being able to hold in lap is huge - especially hanging at the beach or somewhere else. I can see me using this as well for all my small house parties and gigs for 50 peeps and under. Im a bit older (45) and this is my side gig/hobby (work a full time job luckily and thankful) so removing the cost issue and simply looking at a product niche I have been waiting 15 years for - I'm all in. The price is meaningful to a 17 year old kid or a full time DJ who needs the gigs to cover expenses and turn a profit. This piece of machine can fill so many needs depending on who you are - not many units can run the gamit like this.

I had the MCX8000 and it was a terrible controller, there were tons of issues. One of the platters would sometimes just stop working randomly mid and then it would work again after you restart the unit, recording mixes was a nightmare as it would record the sound on very low volume or not at all, you could never adjust the fader to exactly the right settings. The unit wouldn't recognize some songs even if you export them directly from the Engine software, and the software itself was terrible getting the bpm and the key wrong of about 30% of all the songs I loaded on it. Updating the firmware didnt help either...
If Denon is aimed at the high end dj market then I don't understand how they could release such a terrible product.

I am a Denon MCX8000 owner and have thought about upgrading to Prime as my primary controller but I may just have to use this Prime Go controller as my secondary one for smaller gigs or second setups like weddings require. Very impressed by the power and compact size. I could totally see my self bringing this to a beach or Park Party and using a battery powered speaker. This little controller is probably going to make me want to convert to Prime 4 anyway. Denon is slaying it in the last couple years.

It's like Denon DJ has started a funeral home cause they're burying Pioneer DJ by the second. Having said that, one has to give Denon DJ big props cause they are seriously innovating. Right now it appears Denon DJ is building their own ecosystem with a slew of innovative products that have Engine OS as its backbone thereby guaranteeing the continued improvement of Engine OS and allaying the fears of DJs that earlier Prime products would be made redundant. Despite how nice this product is I believe the price is a bit on the high side. I think a region between $500 - $600 would have made more sense since I think most people wouldn't use this as their main rig but like a backup or training gear. Nice review though

$1000/£929 is because of the stand alone capability. With the streaming service you can just buy this and no laptop. I own a PRIME 4 and the Tidal integration is great. I can imagine a mobile DJ using this for requests. It will be interesting to find out what price the PRIME 2 is. The PRIME 4 is around $1600/£1500 so the PRIME 2 will probably sit at $1300/£1200.
Denon are taking it to Pioneer and with the Engine software they can win the fight.

Know what you mean by overheating, gone back to a tower i7 with 36mb memory and an SSD. Best and safest, for long Gigs. People do not realise when you have a room at 20 degrees C, then 300 people come in all at 37 degrees C that poor little fan on your laptop, stand no chance of keeping it running below 60 degrees C.Don't get me started on humidity.

I see that many people complain about the high price. They say that it should be cost $500-$700. I totally disagree. Today you have to pay $500-$700 for a controller that needs a pc/mac extra. So why is it expensive??? This is the wolrd's smallest standalone unit with built in processor. It is so unfair to compair it with the non standalone contollers (at the price range)!

Great review. One thing that would still get me to buy the xdj-rz over this is the feedback destroyer on the mic input. That is so critical to the working dj and Denon doesn't have an answer for it. Perhaps if they add that to the software as an update then I'll be on board. To take it to another level adding a master EQ to the software with a graphic EQ and curves would the n help me tune the room and solve many problems.

I was looking at a (DDJ800 and RX2) for the Pioneer ecosystem, and also (and stupidly) venues get impressed by the flashy gear.
Now, I am considering the Prime 2, but finding everyday better use for the GO.
I don't scratch (just like seamless long mixes (house and its derivatives).
Maybe the Prime 2 covers all my "needs" (including the flashy part), but the GO.... I mean, It can be so chick as well, and watching your mix set in it, got me thinking...
    Thanks
BTW I have an SB3 and a Roland 707M, but each has their distinct uses.
