    Bro Sainz drove a PERFECT race. Including giving Lando DRS on purpose to keep Lando ahead of Russel and Hamilton on the straights. That's insanely big brain driving, realizing that p2 couldn't possibly overtake his car even with DRS, but also knowing that giving lando DRS stopped the much faster Mercedes from overtaking him. It was a masterpiece, and caps off what has been an amazing season for Sainz.

  • @mavadelo

    Green for Sainz? scuse me? I am a Red Bull/Max fan and I am mad about this.... Sainz surely deserved the purple box. That was Big Brain driving. And that red box for Red Bull isn't red enough, you should introduce a black box for that performance this weekend.
    Very impressed with Lawson, I agree that he deserves a seat.

    • @soostdijk
      @soostdijk Před 8 měsíci +5

      Max ended fifth, likely even higher if not for the unfortunate timing of the safety cars. That is not really a black box.

    The only blemish on this race on ferrari's end is that the traffic in the pit lane delayed Leclerc and cost him precious track position. It could have been a 1-2 for them if it wasn't for that little bit of bad luck. Still, it was a great race and the first time in ages they didn't mess up the strategy when it mattered the most.

    Kind of unrelated topic, but it's eerie to me how many parallels can be drawn between Leclerc and late Gilles Villeneuve. Both extremely talented and extremely fast, which usually gave them an early advantage over their teammates. But, soon after, they start dropping in performances due to how inconsistent and reckless they are, which allows previously unassuming teammate to catch up and surpass them, simply due to being less reckless. It's still early to say this but, if Sainz continues to improve like this, he might push Leclerc out of Nr.1 status at Ferrari and force him to start looking for a seat elsewhere (because I doubt that Leclerc will ever settle for being Nr. 2 driver).
    Anyway, great analysis as always.

      Leclerc is a charger. He seems to only care about going fast. He’s lacking in the department where you gotta plan for the race. He built his reputation on his early years in Ferrari but he hasn’t learned from the moe senior teammate he had. He has plateaued.

    Singapore GP, as a whole, deserves a purple box. This season is a matter of whether Red Bull will be beaten in a campaign where they were the most consistent and best team in the grid.
    But RBR pushed too hard in qualifying and ultimately shot themselves in the foot. Ferrari capitalised with Sainz, taking pole and, crucially, the race where rivals Mercedes partly bottled it with George crashing out. And there was promise in McLaren and Lawson, the latter earning points for the first time in his third start.
    In summary, it will be a traversity if the Singapore GP settles for less than being the race of the season. Night race might not be everyone's mea culpa, but who says it's boring, right?

    Mercedes' gamble would have worked if they had two or three more laps? I doubt it very much... after driving off the wheels of their cars while "playing catchup" for the better part of 20 laps there was precious little life left in their medium tyres. Picking up unprotected "stragglers" along the way is one thing but getting past that "Carlando DRS train" seemed less and less likely the closer they got to finish line. So, more laps were likely to make matters worse for Mercedes.

    we learned something more. in fact, we confirmed one more thing. leclerc is a teamplayer. sainz isnt. for those who are prepared to trash leclerc, think about silverstone 2020. ferrari made a mistake with strategy, sainz didnt helped with a single lap toe to warm those hards. sainz. in support fo my claim, you can see that bad pace of sainz in monza that expose both ferraris to perez. also fake pace in singapore that choke leclerc strategy.
    if sainz would have been in leclerc possition, it wouldnt do the same thing. including building 4-5 sec which secured his free pitstop during safetycar - leclerc lost from 2 to 5.

    Penalties need to be harsher and more concrete following a driver ruining another drivers race/qualifying or taking another driver out completely. The fact that both Max and Checo didnt get multiple penalties was concerning. they both cost other drivers significant positioning and points. Just not right. In a league where multiple teams are owned by the same parent company and there are customer team relationships at play (which is all already concerning), you absolutely cannot rely on teams speaking up against each other, especially in a case like Alpha being victimized by RB. Even if Alpha wasnt invited to the meeting (which they most certainly should have been, Id actually argue they should have been required to go) the impeding was obvious. It didnt need Alpha there to describe how it effected them. There are drivers who have gotten multiple impeding penalties this year for a lot less, they havent been shy about throwing penalties around. I have no idea what changed in singapore, nor do I know why RB are excused while other teams and drivers arent given chances. Max genuinely had arguably 3 strikes in the same qualifying session and still got away with it.

  • @rossrreyes

    If it weren’t for a McLaren blocking Merc would have beaten both Ferraris because their strategy was better (not a surprise considering it’s Ferrari)

  • @suxix7312
    @suxix7312 Před 8 měsíci

    Would it rly be that close tho if RB wasn't there? Not all tracks are like Singapore!!! So sure the racing was close here bc the leader slowed down the pack and it was very hard to pass. But this is one track of what? 23? 24?

  • @merijnfluitman5761
    @merijnfluitman5761 Před 8 měsíci +1

    I would argue that Sainz slowing down the pack had no impact on Red Bulls race. When Max pitted, the gap between Leclerc and Verstappen was 9 seconds, with Ocon 9 seconds behind.

Jesus christ its just lame. I mean great for Carlos he used his big brain. But how lame. Feels wrong to be able to purposely slow people down so you can win. That's like crashing at Montico during Qually so no one else can put in a time and get pole.
