The Gender Exploratory Therapy Association's New Clinical Guide

- Join FAIR in Medicine for a webinar with GETA, the Gender Exploratory Therapy Association, to discuss their new Clinical Guide for therapists working with gender questioning youth. Developed by a team of clinicians with expertise working with gender dysphoric youth and their families, the Guide offers therapists an introduction to gender exploratory therapy for this growing population based on the latest research on utilizing psychotherapeutic best practices. GETA leaders Stella O’Malley, Sasha Ayad, Roberto D’Angelo, and Lisa Marchiano will discuss the key issues surrounding best practices and how to implement the Guide through case examples. All are welcome, including therapists, parents, patients, and clinicians involved in other areas of healthcare interested in providing the best treatment for youth struggling with gender dysphoria.

Ignore the advisory from The Trevor Project. Nobody in this community is talking about old school, brute force negative reinforcement, conditioning, electro-shock, etc and other cruel and discredited practices.
"Affirmative therapy" is an oxymoron. All truly effective and ethical therapy is exploratory.

She's one of a minority of professionals who is against gay conversion therapy. Research shows the great majority with gender dysphoria find that it goes away by age 20 and they often identify as gay. I'm so glad this wasn't around when I was a kid, I would have *insisted* on it and ended up, well, an incel. It's hard enough for men born male, one little thing like height can make things difficult, imagine what transmen are up against. It's Mengele-esque what they are doing to gay and autistic girls, young people with untreated trauma, effeminate boys, etc. not wanting them to be sterilized or mutilated is not hate!
