  • Join FAIR in Medicine and the Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine (SEGM) for a webinar about gender dysphoria and the latest research with special guest, Dr. Michael Bailey, Professor of Psychology at Northwestern University since 1989. Dr. Bailey recently published the journal article “Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria: Parent Reports on 1655 Possible Cases” adding to the body of knowledge about gender dysphoria in adolescence and young adults. His paper sparked an all too familiar effort to deplatform the study and to fire the editor of the scientific journal that published it. Hear directly from Dr. Bailey about gender dysphoria in youth, why this topic is so difficult to study and debate, and why we need more of both. Read FAIR in Medicine’s Open Letter in support of robust scientific inquiry and debate, essential elements to provide ethical, evidence based care for all. Join us for this important discussion.

Thank-you for contributing to a science-based understanding of Gender Dysphoria. We, as people with GD, deserve accurate answers about the condition(s) we have.

I had dysphoria since 5 years old , I feel it's an innate condition, I early in life started acting differently from my sex . I was afraid from others reaction . I suprressed these feelings , but they came back in my 30s . Now I'm trans . Non transitioned

Well done Dr Bailey. Very clearly put. "Concerns" - yep, what a catchall. When I practiced as a lawyer sometimes the other side would say they had "concerns" about someone and very few magistrates would press the point and insist that the "concerns" be validly based with evidence to show for it.

Thank you for your information and understanding. I follow many transgender people and a few de-transitioners. I hope they study rapid onset and hormones for young adults. 🙏

I dont think autogynaphilia is a paraphilia. Its heterosexual gender dysphoria. There is some individuals who experience dysphoria at an early age . Before experiencing any sexual fantasy

The standard of care in Europe is counseling into the upper teens, with possible use of blockers to delay physical disformity. Heavy on self understanding and support. He is not a clinician or a medical doctor. He is a research psychologist. Apples and oranges.

I appreciate Bailey and his work but he says at around 29:00 that he doesn't think that pornography causes autogynephilia yet the screen says definitively "pornography does not cause male sexuality, it reveals it".
Yet.... He straight after says that we don't know what causes autogynephilia.
So don't say either that you think porn isn't the cause and also don't say that porn *doesn't cause it*, definitively.
On the other hand, I know that those academics and professionals who bring gender and trans into question need to be careful with what they say. Kenneth Zucker knows this all too well, as well.

Is it child abuse to expose a child to pornographic material?
I wonder if the girls presenting in such high numbers could be a trauma response to their innocence being destroyed by facilitators disrespecting age appropriate boundaries.

Yeah... you lost me at the assumption that Jazz wouldn't have transitioned had she not been allowed to transition at childhood. If that were the case, there would not be older transitioned trans women. I have a feeling this is just as misguided and foolish as the whatever camp.
He's also hanging a lot on autogynophilia. There's a lot of problems with that hypothesis, and he's just stating it like its fact. Why are most bi and female attracted trans women more likely to be partnered? If you are attracted to yourself being a woman, wouldn't you be attracted to yourself? What about transwomen who were questioning their gender at a young age, like four or five, and are still attracted to women? That seems to contradict his whole argument right there. Especially when presented as they are exclusive from each other.
Honestly, this just sounds like transphobia disguised as a scientific discussion.

There is no such thing as Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria. I am a transexual, and certified counselor in Europe. Any person who is transsexual has to have evidence of the permanence the condition. Counselors and doctors who are reputable work through all aspects.

According a recent UK study Cass Review which took a look at gender clinics, gender dysphoria happens for all sorts of reasons, most young kids grow out of it..grow up pains..development of the brain (which stops at 25 years old). With those still stuck with it for the most part being gay. The big question is why so many gays are stuck with it. My own view is that it is related to gay people being not build for sex meaning they can not have natural sex with partner like hetero sexuals do, as well is being a stranger in a heterosexual world. Adding attributes of another gender the way Tgender clinics do for these people is sort of like heterosexualisation which makes most of them happy.

Dr. Bailey is a victim of persecution and censorship by trans activists who have been successful in interfering with the article on rapid onset gender dysphoria mentioned above. If I were in Dr. Bailey's position, I would be consulting with a qualified attorney as to my prospects of recovering monetary damages and other forms of compensation from those responsible. Note: I am a 1970s graduate of what was then known simply as Northwestern University's College of Arts and Sciences.

Michael Bailey is one of the most unethical researchers on this subject that has ever lived. His last research used the same unethical methods that f his first. He’s proven he can’t handle or do science. Why are you still giving him any time?
