Acts chapter 2 records the even that birthed the church-the falling of the Holy Spirit of God on his people at Pentecost. In today's Seven Minute Seminary, Dr. Steve Seamands explains how three elements present at Pentecost-wind, fire, and speaking in tongues, all represent the continual work that the Spirit of God wants to accomplish in and through his church.
Quoted in the video: "Unless the Holy Spirit fills, the human spirit fails." (E. Stanley Jones)

It's very rare to find a theologian who speaks the truth like you just did right now.

When you receive the the spirit you might feel the wind and maybe not but you will feel his mighty power and you will speak in tongues those tongues are a sign that confirms you are in Christ those tongues is a prayer language to use to edify yourself in Christ God doesn't give use these tongues so you can preach in tongues you preach or witness in your own language whether you vl speak English or Spanish or whatever you speak

Question: was this the start of the new covenant? Or was this when the disciples were perfected in love? I'm having troubles understanding the value/the difference been whenever we first receive Christ and then when we are sanctified... someone please respond

KapNk... as I understand it we receive Christ when we believe and confess our belief. This is when we are justified. Sanctification literally means being made holy or set apart, and it is an ongoing process. There is always more to be done. We are sanctified through conviction by repentance as a result of hearing the truth. The holy spirit works on our thinking in all this.

PS start of the new covenant either at the birth or death of Christ. Pentecost is often seen as the birthday of the church

We recieve the Holy Spirit as the result of the Holy Spirit baptism. It is being filled to overflowing. The Holy Spirit is to prayed for fervently after repentance and water baptism until the Lord answers your prayer and fills you. Then we must yield our tongue (" the body's most unruly member that no man can tame") until the Holy Spirit takes control of it and " tames" it. Once this happens the filling overflow will begin.
Recieving the Holy Spirit is too crucial for any man to say when we have recieved so God gives a supernatural sign that it has occured which is speaking in " tongues".

@@douggauzy6258 The basis for the pentecostal church didn't begin in the early twentieth century with Parham but in Acts ch 2.
Think of it this way. How does the pentecostals today plan of salvation compare to the apostles in Acts 2:38 ?

Sorry you are teaching that which is Biblical. In 1st Cor.10but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away with.
The Koine Greek word for "Perfect" is teleios. Which means complete. The complete in this instance means that when the Bible came it completed what Christ had to say. Therefore miracles, speaking in tongues, etc.. were not needed anymore.
