I have bought these pliers repeatedly, because I end up breaking them. They don’t like to be tightened super hard, and the needle nose are just better imo.. but for someone like myself who has terrible trigger finger in both hands, carpal tunnel in both hands and rheumatoid arthritis in both hands, they beat out the old style.
you know I was about to say how I already have a tool that does the exact same thing, but I think this particular tool actually improves on the original design of locking pliers
Same. I have much more expensive/higher-end tools but the kobalt tools end up in the mix of used tools all the time while working around the farm and shop. They really do hold up just fine. Have for years. Plus people seem to forget that kobalt / Lowe's will replace them if you needed to. I've literally never had to.
In case your store isn't doing a good job keeping these in stock, Stanley makes a less fancy version that's way easier to find. Lil yellow lever you can pull with your pinky while holding it just like you would to grip something, and it's inverted (squeezes toward your palm instead of pushing away) so you have a ton of leverage. Mine has never popped on me even on super tight grabs, in part because you have such a solid grip while you pop that lever but also because it does just push it open really gently. Just FYI
When you begin by saying “now they look like regular pliers, right?”, but they don’t, it’s not a good start. Starting to understand that in these videos the tool is the reviewer, not what’s being reviewed.

I don't know about using an Allen key to tighten things because usually fingers and working hands are pretty strong enough for the screw. But how it has the breakaway locking mechanism. It's really big and bulky but it could help in very confined spaces where you don't want to smack something sensitive.
They are perfectly fine for a homeowner. Just like Ryobi. Neither are great for building houses but they are both fine household maintenance and fixing your car and that is exactly how they are priced.

The question is how long will those teeth stay Sharp? You probably should do a hardness test on the teeth to see if they're any good or not? It's hard to trust other pairs of pliers when I've seen so many fail that's why I only buy Knipex, and maybe a couple from Japan. Lobster is one of the brands, Mary make some great electrical disconnection plies.. I believe I spelled the second one wrong. But it's pronounced that way..
If you don't know what locking jaw pliers are then you need to learn a lot more before you use them. Start with a hammer and a screwdriver and go from there.
I am not a kobalt fanboy or anything but I have a bunch of kobalt hand tools that I got when I was younger with the same build, materials, and look. I beat them up around the shop and farm all the time and they are literally also going strong. Right next to my more expensive, all metal, or "higher end" tools. Just because some tools are not expensive, doesn't mean they are cheap or ineffective. Plus, Lowes / Kobalt will replace it even if it did break. So it doesn't really matter much.
These are as soft as bubblegum. The teeth mush down the first time you use them and I stripped out the threads tightening them down using the nut. And before you say it, no.. Amazon has the 3PC set of these for $26
Under what listing?
Recently got those off Amazon for $12. Best twelve bucks I've ever spent.

Even a hyper tough will last if you use it as it's rated to be used

Yea that button mechanism is going to cause so many unintentional releases
Looks good thanks - though what are they called apart from Kolbalt?
Locking pliers
Those aren't pliers, they are locking plies, commonly called Vice Grips in the States because that's the most famous supplier of them.
It's probably fine for light duty stuff, but that stamped steel construction won't hold up to any twisting forces.
The milwaukee ones have been good with almost any tool being able to turn them. But that release is nice, milwaukee will fly off when you release it.
Yeah I would break that. Hes like look its got a hole for a screw driver. In my head im like give me a chrome socket and impact whatch this.

Dammit I just picked up an 8 piece set of basic of basic players or I would swipe these
Even with all the neat features, I am still too scared to try them.
Ah, vise grips from 100 years ago, in actual good usa steel
I've never seen anyone tighten vise grips after clamping something.
Remember when we were able to buy the craftsman vise grips that did the same thing but without a spring loaded mechanism designed to fail.
Aka vice grips...
Their called vise grips
If it ain't Klein, it ain't mine.

Very smart design.
Aren't they vise grips..?
No. Real vise grips were made by Peterson and now made by Irwin, and this garbage is made by neither
Heck! It'd be innovation for them not to pinch the ever livin purple grapes out of your fingers.....
Like my last pair of kobalt vice grips!

How durable though?
They’ll last about 30 seconds 😂😂
Seems a novel take on the mole or vise grips, at least that what ive alway heard them called on this side of the pond.
"15 dalla"
$15 for 2 pliers means they won't last 10 minutes
