When I saw that the farmers made these during the winter to sell in town for extra money for their families, I learned to have a greater respect for them now.
These are beautiful pieces of craftsmanship and to have an almost perpetual motion mechanism to keep them going is so ingenious. I have one little one on the wall and picked up another that needs attention. At 7:15. I have never seen wooden weights, that's cool and a gorgeous clock as they all are.

My Grandmother had a Cukoo clock that was appraised at $2000.00US. MY DRUG ADDICTED AUNT (MY GRANNY'S YOUNGEST DAUGHTER) SOLD IT & THE WOMAN WON'T GIVE IT BACK. MY MOTHER & I HAVE FILED TO TAKE HER TO COURT. We tried to buy it back adding an additional $500.00 on top of what she gave my good for nothing aunt but she refused. Now we're going ti court over a Cuckoo clock. I never knew Cuckoo clocks could be so expensive until my Gran's clock was stolen. You have beautiful clocks.

I love clocks of all kinds but my brother and sister got us a cuckoo clock from Engstler. Man I feel like I have a treasure! I could have one in every room! They sent it from Germany. To me it's better than having a pet!

0:41 That cuckoo clock reminds me of my American Aunt Terry. She and my American Uncle Ian used to have a cuckoo clock at their house, an apartment in Avalon, California, and I remember when I would spend the night there, I would smile as I heard, "cuckoo! cuckoo! cuckoo!" every hour, 😍 followed by a sweet rendition of "Edelweiss". Unfortunately, Aunt Terry recently told me that Uncle Ian got rid of it because the weights got all rusty. Even worse, my American cousin Robert, pulled on the weights when he was little, which I bet would have broken that sweet clock! I told Aunt Terry, "Hey, you could've sent it to me and I would be glad to have fixed it for you!". We have clockmakers here in Eugene, Oregon that are probably familiar with those particular problems. I wonder if that clock plays "Edelweiss" like the one my American Aunt Terry and Uncle Ian used to have. I wish I could get another one like that for them. Where would I be able to find one? Would I be able to find it locally? Or would I have to go all the way to Germany? That's where I'm confused!

Nowadays the cuckoo call, strike sound of thick and hard coiled wire and tune played by music-box are all recorded and programmed in electronic circuit board of sound chips connected to speaker and installed in some quartz clocks so that they electronically imitates these types of clocks. But nothing can beat the real music-boxes, cuckoo bellows and coiled wire gong.

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A NON WORKING ANTIQUE ONE FOR 20 BUCKS I ORDERED CLOCK OIL LIQUID BEARINGS AND CAREFULLY BLEW OUT DUST AND OILED ALL PIVOTS AND MOVING PARTS. PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AND CLEANED THE CASE WITH PURE MURPHYS OIL THEN OIL POLISHED IT. IT WORKS PERFECTLY AND I REALLY ENJOY IT NOT TO MENTION IT LOOKS GREAT IN MY ROOM.

Is it a pain to wind a clock once a day..? What happens when you miss a day? You need to reset the time?
Can you please give an example of how the interior mechanisms eventually become broken? What are the materials made of that cause them to break?
The coocoo sound is made by little bellows on top of a whistle. I got one where the bellows broke because they were very old. You can repair it yourself. For the clock mechanism, it could be anything.

I have the first clock you showed with the birds and it's missing the pendulum how do I go about getting a new one
You can find them on E-BAY or just Google cuckoo clock parts to find store to order them online. Pendulum are reasonably priced.

I have a cuckoo clock as in 1:43 and the cuckoo clock doesn’t come out. In what position do I put the bar on the side? Up, down, or in the middle?
Well that clock in the video shows that the side lever is down and it's cuckooing. Try moving the lever downwards and see what happens.
Sir I have purchased one kuku clock from u on 6 the June while I was in on tour with Cox and kings ,with two birds , one left side bird is not making notice, it's not moving up and down, pl let me know the problem and solution

Jason, are cuckoo clocks affected by ceiling fans
They can be, if the fan is close enough and on a high enough speed. The pendulum is exposed and enough of a breeze could cause it problems.
That said it is not typically a issue, the circumstances have to be just right, and it usually means there is more wrong.

Nobody told me what a nightmare it is to try and set the time so that it is synchronized both with the cuckoo chime and music. It is like an impossible mathematical equation to figure out.

@@CBF1 No, it was bought about 3 years ago.
@@kezzakat Brand new or used? It's normally the Pre-1960's cuckoo clocks that get out of sync with the hands.
@@CBF1 It was bought brand new in Füssen, with certificate of authenticity. It keeps excellent time, but the hands are so delicate and will fall off when trying to set the time. It's really challenging and something I dread each change of daylight savings.
@@kezzakat They are most likely loose, some of my minute hands have gone loose when turning backwards and unscrewed the main nut accidentally a couple of times.
