Few things are as heartwarming as watching a parent spend quality time with their kids.
can't wait to see that bog fill up with plants in the future.

Thanks. I have been growing carnivorous plants successfully for a few years with the same recipe and I find it’s important to only use rain water. Hope to see how your plants survive.

Absolutely. I water about 50/50 rain vs tap for right now. My rain barrel set up is on the way. I’m going to get a 275 gallon ibc tote and set it up on drip irrigation

With the setup you have with bucket in the bottom with holes how do you know when to water.... Also love the videos!

I typically just feel the top. As long as it still feels cool to the touch it typically doesn’t need water. These things hold a ton of water. If we don’t get rain for a few weeks I will only have to water it every week or so. With normal rainfall I rarely have to water. I just use the shower setting on my hose to keep the sphagnum moist. I plan to set that up on drip irrigation soon. Thanks for watching!!!!

@@insecticidal151 ok perfect kinda thought that.... I'm up in Canada so once it starts getting a bit warmer Im gonna get a outdoor bog geared up!

@@maritimer902 yes!!!!!! You have S. Purpurea ssp. Purpurea that can grow in your climate. Growing in the ground with some winter protection could work for you or make the bog small enough to be moved into a garage or something during the cold winter months. I’m in North Carolina so my plants stay outside year round
