#BoardGameHangover - Hry
you've convinced me boys, now send me that copy real quick
We still need to finish it though. You'll just need to wait a bit like 10 to 20 years... :D
Can't wait for that shotgun supercut
You guys are slowly becoming the board game channel that I get excited for when I see a new video.
First of all, that is so amazing to hear. 2nd of all that is so amazing to hear and 3rd of all, I hope we can pick up speed.
Really enjoying your show from Olympia Washignton here. 🤙
I like how laid back you guys are yet manage to carry yourselves in a professional manner.
On the table space comment, as someone who tears down and sets up not just the game every time I play it but have to pack up the phases every time I go from adventure to combat I have to say that a third party insert made such a difference. I have all my current cycle cards in one wooden bit that I can pull or put away as needed. With the base insert I would have given up.
What kind of an insert are you using? Did you make your own or purchased it?
@@BoardGameHangover I'm using a KDM Xelaser insert because it was what I had on hand when I got sick of the stock insert 😅
There is an ATO Xelaser that looks great now though that I may pick up so my KDM can finally get its insert
Aeon Tresspass is my game of the year and very likely, my favorite game for years to come. The only game that I potentially see challenging it is the next game by the same creators named Kingdoms Forlorn! Grats Into the Unknown for such an inspiring triumph!
Never heard of this but it sounds awesome! Thanks so much for the review as always. Hyped for your Skyrim one
Working on the Skyrim one. :) Should be published at the beginning of summer if nothing changes
Thanks for the great overview! I just backed this game on KS and can't wait to play it. I would love to see more content on this game as well as Kingdoms Forlorn and TSoH when they release.
Glad you enjoyed the video! We've been thinking about a playthrough of sorts, but not sure we have the resources to pull it off.
we have played is for 50hours and we love it so far.
Thanks for the vid!
Yes, playing solo, only to play coop when people have time to play with you...that's a unique way to play and share the ATO experience!
Awesome video guys, the game looks epic!
Such a fantastic review! I think you caught perfectly this huge "lifestyle game", his pros and cons, and explained it very very well, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
13:44 oh they haven't found the nymphs card art yet
I recently got an indie game called “bag of dungeon” and it is absolutely awesome. It has some flaws in it but it has a lot of room for house rules and such. It is basically 100% the same as DND but without the dungeon master if that makes sense. I looked all over your channel and I couldn’t find a review of it. You guys should seriously consider reviewing it. It might remind you of tiny epic dungeons and other dungeon crawlers you guys reviewed, but I honestly think bag of dungeon may be the best out of them all. I can’t find any other board game channels as good as yours, keep it up!
Thanks for the recommendation we will try to get our hands on it and try it out.
I recently played through the base campaign of The Hunters A.D. 2114, two players, each controlling one character and - while there were some issues, largely with the tactical missions varying in quality due to some of them being over quickly as the enemies move fast and we did implement one house rule (that it didn’t cost a day to and from travelling to our Base from New Jensen), the game, over all, has been one of the very best experiences I’ve had! It took 30-35 hours to finish the campaign. I definitely recommend checking out the current campaign for The Hunters A.D. 1492 that seems to have addressed the recurring criticisms of the previous iteration.
If we would only try to get one, which would you recommend?
This is my dream board game for now...
I have played act 1 three times, solo. So replayable!!
Yes!! Also want to get it to the table and actually considering starting with ACT 1 once again
Oh nice! how did you find doing it solo with four characters? I am going to start a game in Jan. Just been so busy with work and will have most of the minis painted by then as well.
if you are into heavy board gaming , its fine...otherwise its a nightmare for casual board gamers@@yagsipcc287
Consider jumping on board for Kingdoms Forlorn. Has a Dark Souls / dark humour vibe with evolved gameplay. Played the TTS mods and it's already amazing. PM is still open. Great review, thanks guys!
Will look into that one, thanks.
You know you like a game when building a piece of wooden furniture to improve the experience is a reasonable option. Haha thanks for the review guys. I can't believe I decided to back all 5 cycles, but the theme and story are just perfect for me, and id hate to leave the story 3/5 finished. I know it will be a years long adventure, so i hope im up for it
Nice review
Glad you enjoyed it!
Have you guys played Tainted Grail??
I would love if you do a top ranking of story driven board games.
Nice video. The algortihm has blessed me.
And us too! Welcome.
I am trying to find time to finish second campaign of Sleeping Gods
BoardGame Hangover: see what we have... It's even bigger, 200 hours...
I’m trying to not spend money on board games and you review a $500 game! Very good review though. Makes me want to buy it right now but I’m just gonna wait somehow.
Don't worry this for sure will be the most expansive game we'll review in the nearest future:D
actually it was very good format for such game. this 100h vs 1 session perspective. well done.
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Thanks
Not related this is game, but I’d really love you guys to do a review on the game “Summit”. I don’t know anyone else who’s played this game much but my gaming group loves it!! We always play co-op team v team and it’s just so unique.
Anyways, great video as always! This game looks fantastic, but too much of a commitment for me at this time in my life 😢
JT hasn't played Summit, but as he really enjoys co-op games we could give it a go. :) If not a review then we might need to add it to our best co-op rankings
@@BoardGameHangover Nice! Yeah, I was surprised when I didn't see it on your last video about your top co-op games. Anyways, excited for you guys to check it out! Love your videos
I'm heavily invested into KDM. I play solo and run a group campaign. The only way I manage to pull that off is having a dedicated space to keep the game set up. Feel like ATO is the same.
It's pretty much the same, yes.
I am wondering how swingy it really is? I mean is it roll a die and hope for the best or it actually does have mechanics you have to play around for? I really like this, I would say, I like KDM theme better but this have more story, which I like and it does have already assembled minis!
There's tons of mechanisms around the dice and combat. A lot of ways you impact your chances and improve your rolls. Yet if you make mistakes or you get really bad luck with card draw and dice... It's punishing
It is much less swingy than KDM because of the inverted combat paradigm. That means combat is designed so that you get stronger the more wounded you are, and so does the boss. So getting close to death can actually be good, which creates a great feeling in the game as you never feel useless. Unlike KDM where an unlucky trap card or dice roll just kills you or cripples the character. It is still a dice chucker with lots of rolls so randomness is part of it.
#1 2022 game. Undisputed
I NEED TO PLAY IT MORE! /JG
I'm all-in for Kingdoms Forlorn... I really need to resist getting the second printing of ATO because I most definitely won't find time to play both.
Is Kingdoms Forlorn just as big as ATO?
@@BoardGameHangover Probably similar in size. They haven't confirmed everything yet, but there are several boxes already... I don't know if my kallax is ready.
This looks awesome af, but I do have a question. Where can you buy it? I've been looking around and can't seem to find a reseller, just expired Kickstarter links. Am I missing something. Help me out here boys, I really want this in my life.
It is on Gamefound right now. (Mar '24)
Attack on Titan meets Greek myths, meets Kingdom Death Monster meets, an open world exploration player driven universe with lots of drama, story, action and insanity as you try to save the world, meet people, create items and research The Board Game. This is why they went with "Aeon Trespass Odysey" the name rolls off the tongue way!!! eaiser ;-)
I went all in on this myself when I found out about it like 3 years ago now, I also backed the second one they are doing all in with everything. Still have to play this ha I think I will be sorted for life tbh. Going to play in Jan when I have more time free plus painting all the minis. For me I get super excited when I am painting the minis for games I also enjoy it as I 3d print and been into wargaming since I was 11ish (32 now) This is like that but story driven. I am very very excited ha
It seems to be very, very similar to Kingdom Death : Monster. And I love that ^^
It's WAY more complex and fiddly than KD:M. Where KD is about the fights and survival, ATO is about the massive, well written story.
GG guysw🎉
You are either playing the crit rules wrong or just explained them incorrectly. Rolling a "crit" on the white die only gives you a CHANCE to crit the monster. If you fail to wound it counts as a regular failure.
That's true! Didn't explain it as well as I could have, but the point still stands. Always so exciting to get a crit roll! :D Have far are you in the campaign?
@@BoardGameHangover We've finished Cycle 1 and are a few days into Cycle 2. We've actually taken a break from ATO because we played Cycle 1 in only about a week and a half, and we need to recharge.
Keep up the good work friend!
Quack says it’s unplayable after 40 hours of play 😂
I really want it! But i do not have the time to play it.
Totally understandable.
Okay okay I'll buy it 😂
Just make sure you have the time & space buddy :D
writting 😂 that has to be a joke right
Nope doesnt look anything like KDM. KDM had a blank black box with barely visible logo. This one is white. KDM you attacked body parts and this one....oh wait a minute is anything about this game original? Nope
Well, the story is great :)
KDM is the king.
What is a King to a God? ATO is godly.
So kingdom death monster, but greek
It for sure takes a lot from it, but this takes it to a whole new level.
