    I wasted money replacing all 4 wheel sensors (on my 2003 530i, 229K miles). This video is very encouraging, and I will proceed (I have a 1987 325e, 285K miles to putz around in). I have noticed that the Trifecta is DEFINITELY heat-related, so when I saw a guy say he was going to have it rebuilt "again", I'm thinking placing some sort of heat shield between it and the exhaust manifold. THANKS!

    Because I was driving my car and the axle front right on my bmw e83 x3 had some shaft play. If you hold it and push and pull on the shaft in between the two boots/bushing things it would wiggle so I imagine I had to replace the whole assembly, I tried making it a few days untill I got paid to do this repair. Then driving it one day after I went to exit a driveway and I was only making a wider turn when the car almost stopped after a loud bang/pop then it felt as if the axle dislodged it’s self. My three lights came on and the car started running really really roughly and I drove it quite awhile with being unsure I got off of work the rest of the day came home put the car on a jack and removed the wheels to inspect. Nothing seemed as it had broken same condition as before but the car would barley make a uturn and turning just seemed like the axle was fighting the turning function. Well I took the wheels off the decided to put them back on and drive again and took it on two separate drives and then all the mentioned scary weird stuff going on previously had just been no longer exsisting. Does the module go out intermittently should I be expecting it to happen another time should I just get it rebuilt before driving it again?

    I have the trifecta lights with the Trans failsafe prog warning on dash. The thing is I just did an oil change yesterday and all of a sudden I get the trans fail safe prog warning along with the brake and abs light on dash. Trans was working fine no issues at all up until this oil change. I’m thinking the lube tech might have done something shady such as steal the trans connector underneath but other than that I think it may be the ABS module. Can you drive without the abs module? I’m looking to send it in for a rebuild through eBay

      @nicks7548 Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Buddy, yeah I fixed it. First I bought a go Foxwell 510 BMW and had many codes. Transmission Transfer case, Zme electronics etc etc... The Whole problem was the Reluctor Rings Rear and the ABS Sensors. Changed some fluids did adaptations and vehicle runs Great! Was going to light it up but runs so good I even put new Michelins on it and can’t believe ABS rear sensors and ring would cause so many problems. By the way did the ring, didn’t change the Half Shafts and put new sensors right and left.

    • @nicks7548
      @nicks7548 Před 4 lety +1

      By the way the axles were rusted and the ring were pushing on the sensors. Also changed the bearings. Get the BMW tool for the bearings. BMW loves there press fits. Mark the axle to the wheel hub and put it back the same way. Clean the splines with a wire brush and some PB Blaster the use a little anti-seize. If you have a problem getting the axle in buy a 20.00 inner tie rod end remover and clamp it to the axle hammer on that nothing else, into the hub. You can buy the axle puller that screws on the outer threads of the axle but it’s expensive. When good luck to anyone doing the job, I Leant a lot...

      @BIMMERZEITT  Před 3 lety

      Hey Kris, first step is to scan your car with a BMW specific code reader like this one: amzn.to/3s89bkc (affiliate link) which will allow you to begin diagnosis. Otherwise you're just driving blind. It could be as simple as a wheel speed/abs sensor at one corner causing the lights, but could also be an ABS module in need of rebuild. Yes cruise control can still work sometimes.

    • @BIMMERZEITT
      @BIMMERZEITT  Před 5 lety

      Difficult to diagnose with little info over the internet, but sounds like you have multiple things going on here Brian. It's possible to have a bad ABS module (you need to have the ABS specific codes read with scanner). If you have running issues it's not likely related to the other ABS issue, unless of course the car has had any water damage causing electrical havoc.

      G Taylor Johnson I will update it in the morning, thanks for letting me know. Yes, technically you can drive the car, however I don’t recommend it because your speedometer will not function and ABS will not work. So if you were to get into an accident, I’m sure the insurance company would love to deny coverage due to the abs module being missing from the car. Not worth the risk if you ask me. But technically yes the car will run and drive without the module.

    • @BIMMERZEITT
      @BIMMERZEITT  Před 5 lety

      You can do either. I would recommend sending it to the rebuild place first, which should fix the problem. In the event they can't repair it, you'll get your money back - then you can shell out $500+ for a new unit. If you DO need a brand new unit, it also has to be coded to the car either at the dealer or using BMW software. The best scenario considering time and money is just doing the rebuild.

      BIMMER ZEIT I have a bmw 5 series, e39 520i. Year 2002. So bleeding the brake lines isn’t necessary, just unbolt the ABS module, send it off for repair, then simply bolt it back on! • @BIMMERZEITT
      @BIMMERZEITT  Před 6 lety

      davedavis Dave that is textbook abs module failure. The thermal joints in the board expand once warm and no longer have a good connection due to exhaust manifold heat - just look at where the module is located. The rebuild service repairs the soldering of the board. Of course, scan and see what ABS codes you have first before jumping right to a rebuild. But I’d bet it’s the module, you’re also at the Golden mileage they always seem to fail at 117-120k miles

    • @BIMMERZEITT
      @BIMMERZEITT  Před 6 lety

      I believe I had mine back within a week. Yes it will still run and drive, but if I recall the speedometer may not work and it won't log mileage. You also won't have any ABS or DSC so I would recommend not driving the car while it's out. Not worth the risk to get into an accident, then the insurance company investigates and you're at fault because you had no ABS working. Maybe that's over the top. But it's not a risk I would take if you have assets to lose.

      Anything can happen. Like he said, with a handful of heat cycles, the module will burn out, causing the car to go into trans. failsafe prog. (Transmission fail safe program) if the ABS module is not "working properly".
      I only have a mere 104k miles on my E53, but it is already going. The codes you might wanna be looking for are P0600, P0720 and P1747. If you wanna know how hot it gets under the hood, simply idling can get the intake up to 50-55c (120f+).
      Also while in trans failsafe prog, the car will be set to idle at 700rpm and locked to 3rd gear. Hope this helps others with an E53. Please drive safe, especially on the highway/interstate because you will NOT be able to shift from 3rd gear.
