    I've got an Adv Skin 5 and it is bouncy on technical downhill too. Tightening the lower part of the bungees reduces the amount of upward movement of the vest/flasks somewhat. It really needs a good way to hold it down. I have stopped noticing/caring about the bouncing most of the time, but it is so much nicer to run fast downhill without the vest on.
    Looking forward to the Quest video!

      Gotcha. I guess the benefit is the faster you bomb downhill the less time you have to deal with the bouncing! Haha! I was able to synch it down in the few times I’ve used it since this video recording which does feel a bit better. Also, I’m curious if having stuff in the back of the vest helps to distribute the weight and offset the bounce? Have any experience with this for longer events at all?

    Nice first impressions! I love my ADV SKIN 5 and would love to get the new 12 (I have the prior 12) when I need a little more capacity in the back. I too will put a caloric/electrolyte mix in one bottle and water in the other. BTW, the included bottles are made by HydraPak and because of that you get a life time warranty on the bottles. You can, if you choose, use the HydraPak Ultraflask Speed bottles instead which is what I do (the Speed cap makes aid station refills a breeze). DM me for a 10% HydraPak discount ;-) When carrying the GoPro, I will put it in upside down in the side pocket (camera down, handheld tripod facing up) or I'll just hold the camera the entire time. As for sizing, I'm 5' 8" with a 37"-38" chest and the medium fits perfect. Doesn't seem to bounce as much as your medium (which is odd). As for poles, you can carry them the way you've outlined (front or along the back, but you have to move the lower straps for back/rear carrying). You can also carry the pules diagonally along the sides, top near the bottles and bottom under your armpit near the bottom/back of the pack (you need to move the upper and lower cords). Cheers!

      Oh cool! Yeah I’ve dealt a lot with the speed flasks while volunteering at various races. They do make it incredibly easier to open/fill and close back up! Half the time I end up dropping the little mouth piece in the dirt, too which would be solved by these as well! I’ll definitely look into purchasing some!
      I’d also need to experiment more about the pole placement. I’ve never seen a diagonal attachment as you mentioned. So far I really like just throwing them into the gear loops on my shorts so they’re completely out of the way (but I only have one pair of those). I’ll have to research how I move the bungees to the back of the pack because that location is pretty similar to the shorts. I’m also wanting to try the quiver attachment which I’ve heard a lot of great things about. Either way I like how this pack has many options to choose from!

      I just picked up the adv skin 5. Are the backing materials different between the models? 5v8v12? Is the 5 more breathable than the others?

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun Před rokem +2

      @@ayowser01 The ADV SKIN 5 vs ADV SKIN 12 are made of the same materials and same breathability. The Sense Pro packs are more breathable and made of a lighter material but not quite as durable or robust as the ADV SKIN packs.

    I like the first impressions. Makes me not want to try s new pack company.
    I don’t have any Salomon packs, but I have the same camera issues. I’ve found the best place is the water pouches.

      This is actually the first piece Salomon gear I’ve tried. The whole point of this video (as mentioned) is not a full review but simply ‘how does it look/feel the first time trying it on. A lot of times I watch full review videos and expect it to work perfectly not realizing it takes time to get acquainted. Overall I have positive comments about this vest and am looking forward to seeing how it performs over time in different situations.

    It's too dificulty to put the flasks in the pockets...what do you think about it?

    • @ScottRunsnStuff
      @ScottRunsnStuff  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi! Thanks for the comment! I haven’t found inserting the bottles back into the vest to be too difficult. If the bottles are full they usually just slide in for me. If you’re trying to out them back half-full, I’d recommend blowing into the bottle to fill it up completely first, then suck the air back out once it’s in the pocket. Hope this helps!

    Mine feels so tight, I've got 100cm in the chest area and I'm wearing size M. Don't know if it should be hugging me so much. Chould you share your chest measurements ?

    • @ScottRunsnStuff
      @ScottRunsnStuff  Před 3 měsíci

      Hey thanks for watching! Sorry for the delayed response - I don’t actually know my chest size but as a typical medium shirt size, I still find a bit too much room up top. I end up crossing the bungee tab under the straps and looping it up to the top once more to give a little more support. Hope that helps, thanks!

      @@ScottRunsnStuff No worries, thank you. I bought an M and it fits like a glove. pretty much love it so far as I'm running mainly on flat long courses.
