So is this going to be the change that’ll propel United to the very top again?
Well, the Glazer family will retain a majority equity stake in the club and voting rights.
They will still have the final say.
However, when it comes to the operating side, I don’t think this should be underestimated:
Because as part of the deal, The Glazers asked that Ineos take responsibility for the management of the club’s football operations.
That’s “all aspects of the men’s and womens’ football operations and academies”.
In short, the Glazers take care of making money and Ratcliffe takes care of the football.
Will this work out?
Strategically, they’re going to need to be very aligned.
And honestly, it seems like the Glazers have never been aligned with any stakeholders since Sir Alex left in 2013.
