- Not many people have ever played or even seen the Original Version of Kingdom Hearts Coded due to being released back in 2008 on specific Japanese mobile phones. Today I have finally obtained one!

Oh my god, I remember trying to look up KH Coded on CZcams as a kid because Re:Coded was my first game and I was curious to see what it was a remaster of, but I could never find gameplay. Thank you Cynical
well that 'game' along with 358/2 days on collection were all just cutscenes but in KH HD

I know right. I used to do the same thing specifically because Recoded was the first DS game I ever got my hands on and the first portable Kingdom Hearts game I'd ever played. I was always curious about why it was a spin off and where the original came from.
I saw screenshots of this when I was like 10 in a gaming magazine, and it showed this being played on a RAZR flip phone
I waited all my life to get it.. it never came. I'm still here in the darkness
but then I found other fans like me :) THIS IS SO COOL RIGHT!?

after seeing games in 4k, its kinda crazy to even scale how a phone like this could be running any kind of kh game, especially with some 3d rendered enemies. Blast from the past fs

Since you were wondering about the Debug Abilities and their effects, I thought I might share what it says about them on the info screen:
・High-speed - Increases moving and attack speed
・Homing - Automatically charges and attacks enemies
・Auto Combo - Every button automatically connects into a combo
As a tip, the game recommends combining the effects of High-speed and Homing against fast-moving enemies.
I wonder if anyone still has the full game.
I'm not sure if anyone else has translated the end game/episode dialogue that comes after you finish fighting all 100 heartless but I know enough japanese to kind of follow
Herc Shows up and Phil asks him where he's been
Herc then apologizes and replies that he had to meet up with someone for a little while
Herc then notices Sora and asks him why he's here
Sora takes a while to remember and then goes ":0" the paopu fruit!
Sora seems to suggest that if there's someone Herc likes, then there's this paopu fruit where (and proceeds to tell him what the fruit does if you eat it with someone)
And I think suggests that Herc should eat it with Meg?
I think at this point Herc replies with something similar to him not knowing for sure if she's the one or if she's the one for that kind of thing or that he's still figuring things out
Herc is now embarrassed because Phil knows he's been meeting up with Meg instead of coming to training
Phil finding out about this says that "from tomorrow on your gonna start special training!"
Sora laughs at the end
Then after everyone is gone and it's just Phil ,
He finds that shining item on the floor and I believe it's sea salt ice cream because he points out that it tastes salty but sweet
And then says something like he wants to share one with Herc? And walks out
So again- my translation is not one to one but I hope someone finds this cool to read because it shines light on what the main points of dialogue in this scene were :D!
Phil actually got a paopu fruit because he said “It’s like a tree fruit?”
And he ate it, then wanted to share with Herc.
So this ending told us two things:
One is paopu fruit is salty but sweet.
Another is Phil ate paopu fruit with Herc lmao. (Well this kind things happens quite often in Japanese story)

Re:Coded is really a fun title, it was nice to have a side-game that felt like a normal day in the KH universe with solving problems away from the main plot, kind of like how a movie has a TV show with small non-main plot.
It's good that they made a Remake for Coded I'd say

All I can say is that I am so glad Nomura-san decided to remake Coded and make it more accessable! I'm one of those who actually enjoys the game and its' story for what it is.
Now if he'd only do the same for Union X.
@@WarpChaos I can definitely see why people would want a remake of Union X. I'm one of those who started playing it back when it was first released and still called Unchained X, but I would totally be down for some sort of remake, whether it be just cutscenes or a fully fleshed out game.
It's been so long since I've seen gameplay of this game. Back in about 2009 my cousin imported one of these phones with a supersim. Still looking for one of these at a reasonable price, just to have in my collection
Use Buyee.jp and browse on Yahoo Auctions, if they're going to be anywhere they'll be there. When they do pop up, they're usually pretty cheap
It's funny how this has more Kingdom Hearts gameplay than the actual mobile games we got on our phones. Fun, but regardless.
to be fair the game we got was pretty much just a port of a browser game, no wonder it can't compare. Let's hope for missing-link
And don't forget the pay to win part, either you pay for the VIP roulette medals or farm two years in a row without failing one day completing everything even events

Now I wonder if Vcast was actually a sort of "test" for a game like Coded since both had episodes periodically released that had to be dowloaded.
Square Enix had nothing to do with V Cast.
V cast colaborated with Disney, not Square... This game was made by Square directly.

This is really similar to Chain Of Memories besides just the chat bubbles tbh, even the animations look almost ripped from the GBA game. That's a good thing too since I love the GBA game!
If you care about truly preserving this game. I'd highly suggest you try getting in touch with the CZcams channel Hard4Games. They specialize in preserving games. If anyone can get the rom off the phone it'd probably be them.
Getting the rom off the phone could make it possible to install the game to any phones that supports it. Along with the possibility of emulation.
Meaning there's a chance of getting proper screen capture footage. Instead of just hand cam footage.
I remember seeing this somewhere when I was kid, always thought it was just a dream. Glad to know its real and we get some hands on gameplay 🤧

That's such a cool way of designing a counter system, it's a huge shame they didn't keep it or bring it back in other installments
If you want this game yourself, the phone is called P-01A. KH Coded (Demo) comes preinstalled on it. Hope you are able to get it.

It does seem like an interesting gameplay proposal. It's what modern mobile KH games were expected to be and look like. It's a bummer they just decided to get rid of *this version* of the game. Yes, I have played (and I'm currently replaying) the DS remake, but it's just not the same. And there are some gameplay features that sure aren't in the DS version, so it's most interesting to delve deeper into this game.
I'm curious as to why the radial health bar is in the mobile version, but we just have a bar in the DS port?
Screen resolution, the DS is something like 192p. I can't tell what resolution that phone is exactly, but it looks much, much higher

★ Explanation of debug abilities ★ Use debug abilities when surrounded by heartless! [High speed] moves and attacks at high speed [Homing] automatically approaches heartless and attacks [Auto combo] with any key Combos are connected Also, it is effective to use [High Speed] and [Homing] at the same time for heartless moving at high speed. Press the Enter key or the 0 key to return to the game.
Remember that Nomura was drunk on sake when he came up with the idea of coded.
this looks amazing for a game on a mobile phone in 2008, my question now is why didn't SquareEnix use the graphical style for the whole KH X saga, imagine if X, Unchained X, and Union X were developed in this style but with higher res sprites and textures and that 3D movement. and the game looks very spacious with the camera layout and isn't like RE:Coded with Sora taking up like 30% of the screen, if there is ever a playable version of the original Coded with an English translation and maybe even the stuff in RE:Coded thrown in it and some performance enhancements I'd just have at it.

As huge as kh has always been especially in Japan there has to be several people with the phone/game in their collection. It's just how to find a way to get them to share.

This was a good video but Square Enix should keep their Mobile games separate from the main series I don’t see why they put Major Stories as part episodes In a Phone game instead of giving us the full story in a actual video game that why I prefer to play Recoded.
