- Charlotte Fire Department's EJ McCormick highlights the features of the department's two new SVI-built Heavy Rescues.
Charlotte (NC) Fire Department needed an apparatus as versatile as the department’s duties when speccing its two new heavy rescue units. Charlotte chose to build its two trucks on 25′ SVI stainless-steel bodies, each mounted on a Spartan four-door chassis with a powerful 600HP Cummins X15 engine. These two trucks are feature-packed units, featuring UNI DOT 6,000-PSI Storage, a Will-Burt Night Scan light tower, a Bauer BP25 25CFM 6,000-PSI Compressor, a Samsung 24″ LED smart TV, OnScene LED compartment lighting with cargo slides and a rear compartment under the stair walkway with powered lift door.

I just realized that a fire truck would be great in a apocalypse
Sub To pewdiepie that’s actually an awesome idea. Fire trucks maybe even ambulance and school buses too. Irregular shape and quite durable
It’s great if you have your Air breaks certificate and know where to get shit loads of fuel. Another problem is it’s very easy to steal gear as those slide up doors don’t have locks
Is that like everywhere? Because in the UK appliance locker doors have actual locks
I already am
Wow 😂 I've been thinking about that for months now
Like to see a second video after all tools are mounted.
PM08203, once the unit leaves the factory, it's hard for us to get video of the final mounting because the units are often across the country once sold, but if we can snag any photos from the department, we'll be sure to share.
Agreed
@@SVITrucks check 704 Fire Buffing on Instagram hes got some pictures
@@caydenbenson4218 thanks Cayden. We'll check this out.
🚒 I just bought one from Amazon next day delivery. I’m going to have so much fun driving it throughout the yard. 🚒
Damn this thing got more drawers than my kitchen
Beautiful layout for that Rescue truck
Rescue trucks are always the best you can’t complain, Although sometimes tower can take the winning place
Whassap from
MEDIC, Mecklenburg EMS Agency.
Totally wanna see this on the roads.
Best set up I have seen on a Rescue truck
Great job fellas on an absolutely thought out rig!
Congratulations, Charlotte FD on such well thought-out rigs, and hats off to SVI for building 'em. I'd love to see all those Rota-Beams, um...Rota-Beaming?
Frank Lewis lol, um...Rota-Beaming!🤣😂🤦🏻♂️
Dang nice truck and Great Set Up and Design!!
240v plasma cutter! Not sure I've seen another rescue with one.
BTW great walk around.
Bad ass rescue truck
nice truck ! alot of room for tools and i even hope that our own fire dep would think about this type of storage for new trucks. Regards from Norway
What a beautiful truck
Love to see a walk around of this truck once its all outfitted with tools and equipment
Brian 3, once the unit leaves the factory, it's hard for us to get video of the final mounting because the units are often across the country once sold, but if we can snag any photos from the department, we'll be sure to share.
looking forward to seeing this truck running around town soon!!!
Looks real good
Hopefully yall dont have the same problems my dept has had with spartan. the door handles on the outside, the seatbelt alarms randomly going off and random abs warnings
What a well thought out heavy. Great job, would love to see a video when the unit is in service with all the equipment in it. Well designed heavy, no doubt. Btw, the Whelen warning lights are second to none. Great job with the Freedom Rota Beam light bar. And the M6 Rota Beam heads all over the truck. Great job.
Nice unit
She is a Beauty
But does it have a hose
I wanna see a fire truck one day and go on call cuz i whant to be a firefighter one day
Mind if I play Crysis in the main cabin?
You just cleared up many fights for me!🤗💀🕵
Bad ass...
This is SO. Cool I want to toy of this
The other ones are only like 9 years old! Why waste that amount of money!?! Still sweet trucks!
Ethan, I can't speak for Charlotte FD because I don't know their call statistics, but here in Denver there are days Res1cue barely sits in quarters, so my guess is, CFD's replacing their rescues because it's time to, plain and simple. Engine and truck cos. see lower run total because there're more of them spread across a juristiction, whereas there's fewer specialty apparatus--like rescues--covering that entire area. Wear and tear on such rigs accumulates quicker, thereby necessitating shorter replacement schedules. Again, though, I'm speculating, and whatever the reason here, some department's gonna pick up a nice rescue on the resale market with a lot of years left in it.
Ethan Wakula They replace trucks every 10 years. The 09s will become reserves and the current 1998 reserves will likely be auctioned off
CFD trucks are almost always on the road. I live down the way from a fire station, and also work next to another, nearly constantly responding to calls. Not a small town FD by any means.
I build fire fighter training props and some of my firefighter customers come to pickup up their units after a 24 shift. One guy told me that he responded to 32 calls in his 24 hr shift. He said they never went back to the station and the truck was running and being used all day and night. Grant it he is in Washington D.C. but that takes a huge toll on equipment and trucks if they are constantly driving over potholes and over curbs in cramped alleys . So a 10 year life span for a truck that can operate 24 hrs a day. A work truck might see half that abuse without the stress of life and death on the line. Not to mention 4 different shifts of people rotating in and out who all drive the truck differently.
As stated over 100,000 miles in just 3 years lol definitely not a waste in 20 years it would accumulate over 1 million miles. Their rescues get too much run not to replace them as much.
amazing, very good.
Hey EJ how you doing we worked together at Loveland ?
This sounds like it’s more for water rescues
One Watch yes station 10 is one of the station that has a dive team
Great video. Really nice looking apparatus! What was the cost of each vehicle? The reserves are from 2010. What was their cost? Mileage? What were the years of the retired reserve rescues?
@hextal1 New units were $890k each, 2010 were $725,000. 2010 units will be new reserves. The 2019 Rescue 10 has 125,600 miles as of today.
Ew its not a walk in but i like the lay out of the truck
any reason for the blue cabinet lights vs white or red?
Preference mostly, but some departments opt for colored lighting to try to reduce glare.
Scuba? Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus?
Yes both
How much does a new fire trucks cost just curious
Over 1.9 million
Jesus Loves You

Swweeet truck but dewalt really Milwaukee much better and red so matches the truck
Tax dollars at work
Ededdrrdxcr r the year has yet done anything about r to the gh
Replacing a 2010? Rich city lol that’s only 9 years old poor taxpayers
The FDNY Replaces their Rescue Trucks every 7 to 8 years . Fire trucks go thru alot of abuse and the maintenance to maintain them is alot of money and finding parts for them is hard
They wont be thinking that when theres a multi car pile up and 4 cars need to be cut open because the people inside are bleeding to death. Time is life in those situations and not having to reposition a truck and having everything work the first time makes all the difference in the world durring the golden hour.
