    This was unironically one of the best films I've seen. The raw, expression. Some scenes, the acting really felt like it was hitting home. There were moments that blurred the line of reality. You can FEEL what making this movie meant to those people. There was a great sense of humor amidst the serious scenes. Whenever things were getting too real, the narrator would insert a joke, as if to say that even despite realities like this, we can manage to find reasons to laugh. I feel ashamed that I was surprised by the clever humor and narrative writing. The scenes that seemed random all came together in the end. The narrator was delightful and entertaining. The martial arts and stunts were INCREDIBLE, and the homages to American action flicks were authentic tributes. I seriously love this movie, and it made me feel a wide range of emotions, but I feel so satisfied! Please, continue the hard work!!

    i appreciate the director making this film completely available for free on youtube. it was a genuinely good movie, seriously. definitely an evolution from the other films ive seen from the director.
    bombastic action and jokes aside, the scenes the followed the lives of homeless and abused children was powerful. considering the circumstances the director came from and where he filmed this, i am sure he is trying to show what many children in the country experience. conveying this message in movie form by having us follow characters was perfect as it helped bring an emotion response from us. definitely giving a voice to the voiceless.

    When I saw they had put the muzungu in the movie, I was really bummed. I thought he would try to steal the spotlight because he’s the ~American~ with all of his film knowledge and acting skills. But instead, they made him a featured side-protagonist and that’s wonderful. This is still very much a Ugandan movie, they just found a role for him that fits well in the story.

    • @nainorotodox
      @nainorotodox Před 2 lety +11

      I think he fits so well for these movies. Most of Wakaliwood films involve international crime or other similar elements. Having an real American playing an American is the cherry in the top. It connects with the western audience and creates a much more believable scenerario, without feeling like he's stealing the spotlight. It's nice to see him on action, although he would also make a cool villain.

      @@jamirimaj6880 Usually money tends to be a bigger motivator than wanting to entertain people and of course when there's enough money in play, people don't usually want to take big risks. This generally leads to uninteresting movies, which can still be very technically advanced and well made.
      On the contrary the Wakaliwood guys making movies almost without a budget at all don't really have to worry too much about making their money back, so they can make pretty much what they want. That combined with the fact that they lack the funds and probably the knowhow to make a movie good on a technical level (cinematography, VFX etc.) leads to the beautiful mess that is a Wakaliwood movie. Of course the technical elements are not the only thing wrong with Wakaliwood movies, but it doesn't really matter when every 30 seconds something ridiculous and/or awesome happens. They're not good movies, they're amazing entertainment.
