I Did Enjoy The Central Market. I Miss Lancaster. I Liked The Community Spirit.
The market was such a great experience. Would love to be able to have something like that near where I live. Such a great selection of items to choose from. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day!
I Was Glad To Find The Video. I'm In Another State These Days And I Haven't Found Anything Like Lancaster. Also If You Check Out Roots Market On Tuesdays It's Got Great Things To Check Out. It's Just Almost To Manheim. Actually I Never Ran Out Of Places To Explore In That Part Of Pennsylvania.
This looks amazing. Clean and fresh!! Thanks for sharing
We couldn't get over how pretty the produce looked. It looked like something you would see in a tv ad. Thanks for watching and commenting!
FYI - The oldest market west of the Mississippi (and among the oldest in the US) is Soulard Market in St. Louis, which began which began in 1779 in a field where the farmers would circle the wagons. The area was part of a Spanish land grant to Cerré and his daughter married Soulard, a French officer who decided to stay in St. Louis. The land, over 120 acres, was gifted to the newly married couple. Approximately 35 years later, after Soulard’s death and the Louisiana Purchase, disputes abounded regarding the land. The Soulard widow, however, had the deed-as women under French or Spanish rule had rights of ownership-and she donated the land to the city. The market continued to gather on the site and a permanent building for the market was eventually built. The farmers market has been running continuously for 244 years. I believe the Boston market is older and there are other markets that may be just as old in the South.
Wow! Thanks for all of the information. I bet Soulard is a great farmer's market. I have seen it listed as one of the oldest in the USA. Would love to visit it one day! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@vafunseekers You’re very welcome! It’s a lovely market and architecturally interesting. My favorite spot is the spice market. The neighborhood is notably old and has been mostly gentrified.
@@Ana-Maria-Sierra I would like to spice market too!
We were just there last weekend. We went to see David at Sight and Sound, the Shady Maple for some lunch, some antiquing and the Bird In Hand Farmer's Market. Always a great time!
