HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

9KG Pure Metal Dumpster Dive - Scrap Solenoids - ASMR Metal Melting - BigStackD Trash To Treasure - Zábava
Hey there all you awesome subs how are you all this week? An extra long one today as I pour about 24 or 25 bars from some pieces I found in the scrap bin. An absolute awesome addition to the shelves coming in at over 9.2kg. So grab a drink sit back put your feet up and I hope you enjoy today's video😁👋🏻.
Hi
I love you're content ❤️
Hi
Hello mr.bigstacked
I was doing well but now I’m doing great, thank you for uploading 👍🏻
Thx bro for the video
Not sure what I enjoy more...the liquid metal being poured or the interaction with the boys. Either way, thumbs up.
Eeeeeee yesssss
Either way thumbs down. Im more of a cat person.

Its truly great 👍 😁🥰

I was not told there would be a dog walk in this video.
Best bonus content 10/10 would recommend
I have to say you are super lucky. When I look and dumpster dive I very seldom find anything worth while. These solenoids are from the old school for sure. Just so much metal you can do things with. I would bet you that these would be great to control flammable liquids for controlling a gasoline engine safely. You know, getting high mileage in the fifty miles range. The part I love is when you pour the copper. Looks like a fondue fountain. Nice work Sir.
That copper bar isn’t ugly, it has character! Enjoyed this especially the dogs racing in the sand.
It isnt ugly, but i dont understand the sense of it. He takes pieces from places where they already would get recycled... and recycles themselve with a loooot more inefficiency
No spoilers!

@@bigstackD I do wonder if the metal recycler gives you more if they’re ingots - as you would have to calculate the cost of the smelting equipment and the propane
Such a satisfying moment when the copper enters the iceblock and washes itself clean.
Dude I can’t get those purple pieces out of my head. I’ve never seen copper gush out before. They’re neat
Typical solenoids, and he described the coating as varnish. Not varnish, it's a polymer film of sorts. Frequently called enameled magnet wire, it's also not technically enamel.
@@aredditor4272 thanks for that ... a polymer film... interesting.... i gather it electrically insulates (for small voltages) as i use strands of this stuff for wiring fencing blades (the olympic sport..lol... sorry specialist sort of thing i guess... try to decrease my costs as much as possible by making up wires rather than buying them from overseas..)
@@albertbresca8904 still nice, would like some. Will DEFINITELY not destroy the world
@@aredditor4272 - Shellac is the name given to what is on the outside of the copper wire
@@haraldpettersen3649 once upon a time, shellac was used in electronics, but it's been replaced by superior synthetics.
It's actually one of the few substances found in nature that's like plastic. It's a secretion from the lac bug.
For the next copper melt, could you take the ingot while fresh from the mold and place it into a flammable material and cover with a metal pail then cover the edges with sand to seal in the smoke? I believe that you might be able to produce "peacock copper".
This is a great idea
@@PauIieWalnuts :: kind of like Raku with metal….

These were the artists’ gallery exhibits at that time and I will search for the link to this process and who they are. @@codeblue2532 I've always enjoyed pushing the envelope in art. I took a .22 rifle to green ceramics and tossed old pennies into molten glass. I then used a reducing flame to get a peacock copper effect in the glass.

I just had to find out why those solenoids were purple. I didnt find out, however I did find out that brand new they are worth $45.00(usa) each. Goyen seems to make all types of equipt for hard to handle materials and air purification. Wow! A lot went into those designs, wonder how long hey last b4 they need to be scrapped. Nice video as always.
This entire scrap video was moronic.
@@TheInsultInvestor can't hate you for this... Your name says it's a joke, and up next you've got an insult for me ain't ya
From the search results I got, it looks like they might be controls for fluid valves. Maybe those solenoid arrays are from an industrial refrigeration system?
Edit: A second search after seeing the model number, and that looks like these solenoids were used to control a dust collection system instead of a refrigerator.
a friend worked at Goyen sydney he worked high up in the office last time i seen him in around 03 you could see he was heart broken china had taken most of their work ................................ lay offs etc i think he worked there most of his life
I can't believe how terrible the duty cycle was. 1/2 second on 60 seconds off? How could that even be useful in a industrial environment?
Also love the backgroung sound of the birds 😍
Honestly some days they are almost deafening they are so active and loud. But they’re quite quiet at the moment except for this little black bird dancing around near the shed as it just started to rain.
The rain right now is really annoying as I was just about to do this week‘s melt🤦🏻♂️
@@bigstackD cant wait for the next video😍
My favor part is that he loves the dogs, enjoys ice cream, and is doing something he loves! Keep it going!
Ingot and Bullion and BigstackD, Good Friday Morning! 3:30 in Houston, Texas!
Beautiful pour! Really crowding your 1 Tonne goal!
Glad to see the Boys at the beach. Until then.
I don’t know what it is,but watching scrap metal being crushed and melted is very calming and relaxing. Maybe Big Stacked vlogs should be added into that category in YT suggestions.
I think watching asmr compilations is probably why CZcams recommended this channel to me! I don't watch anything else like this (well I watch artbyadrock but I started watching that after seeing him here) 😊
I can't explain why.. But I think this might be my favorite melt video as of recent.. I keep coming back to it even though I've seen it several times already. 🙃
Hi 👋
Gotta say, having a big TV in the shop is a great idea. Makes sense to watch something while doing tedious work.
awesome find in the ole dumpster this week, more kewl ingots for the Big Stack. You know all that metal weight in that one spot has already risen the ocean level 2.5" on the east coast of the US. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🍻🍻🍻🍻🐺🐺
Maybe it's super early, and maybe I'm tired, But I laughed super hard at the rod slowly coming in to knock the stack over. Love the videos. I look forward to the next one every week.
I love BigstackedD's sense of humor and all the little things he does like that lol😂

Goyen you keep cylinder block top bottom for the wall. It is priceless.
I can’t stop watching your videos!!!!

Adam :: is the purple…and green a ‘source/origination’ code or assembly code, or I.d. indicator ? Just curious as I salvage on different level.

you’re blessed to have a pair of beautiful bois !! Hilarious that they like the veggies u give them !! Your country is beautiful and I really like your content being an x hvac worker ! We recycled everything !!!
My father was the electrical supervisor of a large industrial plant. Every large switch had contacts of at least 90% silver. He collected and kept these contacts from every replaced switch for years. When silver went high several years ago, he got a check for $1400.00.
Damn, those dogs are cute
That transition from the walk at the beach to being back in the house was wicked! That's some top level stuff!
When the stack reaches one tonne, I think it would be interesting if you did a reweigh to find out how much effect rounding had, and found the total value of all of the metal.
What happens when he reaches the tonne, is Bigstackd no more? I hope not. Plus after the reweigh, build a wall with all the various bars just for fun.
It depends on the ratio of metals here but if it's mostly aluminium and copper then maybe a few grand
maybe he would do a remelt for some of those?
That transition from taking the boys on a walk and thenback to the house caught me off guard I loved it
Watching you scrape the slag off the top is so satisfying !!
I admire your patience in sorting through all these different materials ! Thank you for your time and for you sharing.
from 6:40 to 7:30: It is amazing, how brittle Aluminium is, compared to copper or steel. It's almost like glass.
That's is the nature of cast aluminum. (And iron) Forged aluminum is much more durable.
That sledge hammer part with the green painted covers suuuper satisfying lol
I love your doggo's. I watch for them just as much as your melt's.
Had an idea: for large melts like this would it be beneficial to have an oven nearby preheating the metal so that you don't have to blowtorch every piece? Since you only have to get the temp above 100c to boil off water you could get away with a fairly basic wimpy oven.
Brilliant idea tbh could also keep his molds in there so they can be preheated for smoother pours
The furnace is insulated so I don't think much heat leaks through.
@@DogMan077 He not talking about the furnaces, he talking about the molds having to be heated..
If Bigstack had an oven to pre-heat the molds it would help with cleaner and saver pours..
That's not a bad idea!
@@Cent51 Toaster Oven from a resale shop would work fine. I use one for my wood working with resin castings...
So satisfying!! Keep up the great work you do for all of us bigstackD! I'm pretty sure everybody else will agree with me on this one, you make our Fridays 100x better and more relaxing as we watch you change some random scrap into lovely bars! Thanks alot for keeping us all sane through covid-19 and don't forget to say hi to the doggos for us 😊
I couldn't agree more. His videos are the highlight of my hour long commute every Friday.
Actually, my Fridays are pretty nice, even without Big Stack, though it's a welcome addition.
As for Covid 19, like most normal, well adjusted people, I had no problem with my sanity. My secrets were; 1. No face diaper, 2. Ignore all the power hungry mandates (why no womendates?) 3. Empathy for all the terrorized, weak minded, sheeple. BTY...I'm 82 y/o.
It was really great getting to see the doggies play on the beach.
This video was an absolute delight. I was only disappointed once when BigstackD didn't do his ice thing with the aluminium but figured it was a type of metal thing. Then he did the ice thing with the copper and I was happy again. Lol. I especially loved the parts where he pokes the fan, hammers the metal brackets to his work bench and then knocks over his own aluminium bar stack with the draws stick (sp?). Anyway this video hit my asmr fix good. I thought for a moment he might make more nordic gold but was happy as is with what was presented. I also really really LOVED that he included safety text, took safety precautions and included different shots for the pours. Watching the liquid metal pour was an enjoyable experience. I had things I loved from both angles given. I have no questions from this video, because BigstackD actually answered them preemptively in the video itself. The money shot for the bars vault was like having that one itch you can never reach scratched perfectly.
He's getting sooo close to his goal. I'm getting excited to see the goal reached video. Will it happen this year?
Love what you did at 30:47, it adds a great look to the table
How did he get the rotating camera angle 31:22 ?????
Best recycling videos on net you can not be beaten on the effort and hard work you put in your videos no nonsense straight to the point definitely the best melter on CZcams can’t wait till you get 1 tonne hopefully very soon
That is a GREAT Furnace! No HEAT radiates out of that thing! Plastic container would have warped if so. BIGSTACK, you're TOO COOL!
Ahh... The hot block melting through the ice... always so satisfying.
I love all the tips you are giving us like the cardboard and heating the bigger metal for steam explosions etc, it is really helpful for women like me who haven't actually started their melting journey yet! So many ingots!! I adore the way you seperate all the components and the drilling was fantastic!! ASMR indeed!! I love that soft beautiful cooper from solenoids! Great feature length video, loved everything about it👍
Those are blow off control boxes. They are used in huge dust collectors to take that small solenoid and use it to open a larger one that will pulse the dust off of the filters inside the dust collector. We have a huge dust collector that has 64 pulsers.
I'm glad the boys are happy to get a walk in the morning
Beach is the best place for a walk. Lovely way to start the day! Monster melt. Especially in that heat.
Happy Friday! Yes, I definitely remember those purple pieces. I rewatch so many of your videos. BigstackD your videos are relaxing, entertaining, fun, with excellent editing. They’re just a complete joy. Plus the bonus of learning something and enjoying Ingot & Bullion.😃👍

I don’t actually sell them mate I just show them off for my mate who owns and runs devil forge.👍🏻. Definitely the best quality furnaces available on the Internet and a lot better than those cheap Chinese rip-off furnaces that is flooding the market.

Excellent video as always, that was a lot of disassembly but well worth the rewards. I like those steel pieces you kept and the one you're putting on the wall is perfect for that!
Those are some crazy temperture swings from the morning to afternoon/evening. Although yesterday we went from 54f ( 12c ) with flood warnings to last night 12f ( -11c ) with winter storm warnings . Living in Michigan surrounded by the great lakes they sometimes give us strange weather.

Loved the walk on the beach with the boys 🥰 i have to get up & walk my boys about 5am in the summer too, gets way too hot after the sun comes up!
