I really like the tech guy. Really chill vibe from him, even when he's speechless.

i like how even rowan is nice to Theo, obviously because he probably has everyone search history.
I think it is more because Theo is new and Rowan is trying to impress him. Plus he can't attempt to talk down to Theo about computers, because he knows that Theo knows more than him about them.

Recall a story where an IT guy knew he was gonna get fired from a company he has worked at for over a Decade, was punctual, helpful, did everything asked (IT related) and then suddenly, he finds out his A hole of a boss was gonna fire him, so before he lost access to the company servers, he hard bricked the whole thing.

As a systems manager, this is surprisingly accurate. I remember several times when people are like "omg I lost my email", or some other application, only to have accidentally minimized the window, forgot to scroll over, or they don't know how to turn on a monitor (not a joke)... Nothing like spending 10 mins walking across the dept to click maximize on a window or turn someone's monitor on...

It could be worse. Try being the on-call for a hospital and being called at 2am and driving 45 minutes to the site just to turn the monitor on.
I was yelled at over the phone because apparently I had misconfigured something in the domain, because her computer kept turning off. I drove over to their company, lo and behold, her new monitor had powersaver enabled.

@@ImperatorDwalin no. The same rule applies to B_____n. Everyone else forgets who he is but Rowan remembers him except in the episode where B finds out that they've all moved to Tech Town and arrives out of uniform. I don't remember a single episode where Rowan forgets B when he's in uniform.

Remeber in a previous IT Admin role, employees writing their pass on a post-it tagged to the monitor.
Me giving gentle reminders not to make it so easy for others to know.
And one of the best ways to encourage this kind of behavior, is a myth many admins still believe increases security despite all the research showing the opposite effect: enforce frequent password changes.
I once had a call where they lost a tablet they use to deliver out bins to people. Just forgot it once, came back, wasn't there. Smart as they were they also had login data in the protective cover.
You could write it encoded and keep the steps on how to decode it on your phone or something, like 2 factor auth but physical.
Now that I think about it, this might be a great idea for an app.
I helped set up an EMR system (electronic medical records) for a clinic, and set up accounts for all the doctors and nurses. Came back a few months later to find that they'd put a post-it with a login and password on each computer's monitor. Turns out that each person was assigned a computer, but whenever someone else had to use that computer, they'd login as that person. I explained to them that the whole point of having separate accounts was so the system could track which person made what entries and changes into the records, not which computer. But I don't think it stuck.

Yeah, this happened to me often. Company requires me to change my password every 50 days. There’s just no way I’m not going to forget it all the time.

Being in IT, this happens more often than you imagine. It blows my mind how you can come to work every day, and forget your password
Maybe because we have 50 of them which change every 90 days.
If you don't write them down, you're not going to remember them. A high level coworker writes them in their "Passwords" note book and leaves it under their monitor.
You know, this huge board can be much more effective than a small sticky note. Especially for Rowan. Some day 😂

Theo is way more capable of human functionality than Moss. It appears Theo can walk thru a room without being embarrassed other humans are there, or accidentally setting it on fire.

As someone who's worked in tech support for the better part of a decade at this point, I am loving the Theo sketches. I felt this one in my heart. I once reset one dude's password three times in the span of two hours. That's not a joke.
I have only worked in Tech support 21 years and I don't judge people for forgetting. I have seen people so stressed that they could not even remember their own name. Lack of sleep and many factors can lead to people not remember 2 hours ago. On the other hand some judge me for remember nearly everything and say I have autism.

That was going to be my question. Thats a thing that has happened to me before - they send me an email to reset, and my issue is I can’t access.
Its like how sometimes my network drivers just disappear because of a system update and then it tells me to connect to the internet to download an update. Like seriously!?!

Real Password Advice - Pick a phrase someone you like says. One I havent used in Decades is my grandma's favorite Mark Twain quote - "I may be a fool, but I am god's fool, and therefore worthy of some respect" Take the first letter of each work IMBAFB-IAGF-ATWOSR add in some numbers and an odd character you will remember (replacing commas with dashes- you can use # or whatever). Add the number of words at the end or in front as a number so 16IMBAFB-IAGF-ATWOSR you can get more creative but this allows you to hold a memory of the password in your mind. Its a pretty good mental trick that has served me well since BBS days.
Another Real Password Advice - Pick a word or combination of words like RealPasswordAdvice. Then make some replacements, for example replace "sword" with "shield" or "ice" with "fire", so you have RealPasshieldAdvfire. And now add some leetspeak to the mix: Rea|Pa$shieldAd\/f!re
Pro: You don't have to remember Mark Twain quotes.
I tell folks the same thing. It works even better if your phrase (could be a song lyric) has one or more numbers in it. Plus, many common punctuation marks ("!" and ".") are in fact valid password characters.
