    Demn, you really are serving us with content these days 🙏🏻 I’ve watched all of your videos already so I usualy ave new videos for the weekend, when I do most of my plant care. It really helps to keep me motivated, as I live in a place where we last month we only got 7h of sun so the growth is obviously slow. I know it takes a lot of time and effort to make these videos and I appreshiate that so much! Thank you for doing this, I love your channel!❤

    I love watching all your videos! They are so informative. Also, they are encouraging to try new things with my plants. I guess I missed the posting to share pictures or videos of our own plants with you, but that was fun to watch as well. Since you have encouraged me to try moss poles and this is a new journey for me, my plants have started thriving. I truly appreciate all the hard work you put into your videos.

    I love your channel! Particularly your enthusiasm and methodical and observation-based approach to plant care. I was wondering:
    - Do you cut the aerial roots off your monsteras?
    - What do you do when the roots go into the moss pole and out the other side? Do you cut those off where they exit the moss pole?
    - Could you pot up three cuttings in a single pot to get a bushier plant?
    I so appreciate your plants, your aesthetic and, of course, Bradley. Thank you!

    There’s actually one more node right above the first mother leaf where the cotyledon leaf grows. That’s the first leaf that doesn’t look like a true leaf, if you want to maximise all the nodes ☺️

    As a visual learner this gives me confidence I can do this! Thanks Jan. My fears of propagating are more about what to do with all the babies. I don't relish the adoption process to strangers ( I'm a workaholic/ Introvert with zero socials/ not interested in joining plant community, except CZcams:) I kinda wish you had contrasted with keeping your mother plant on moss pole. Is it full of coco chips or moss? How often do you chop and extend? And when you said at the end you needed to water, did you use CCS to minimize shock, Foliage focus or just plain water? Thanks again for all you do.😻

    What a great lesson! And can I ask you a question? Another youtuber always starts her monstera potted up in only moss. This is how I've done it, as I'm struggling with moving the ones potted up in Leca because they are so heavy. The youtuber said she thinks they grow beautifully in moss, but when they get big, she puts them in a chunky aroid mix, but she wouldn't say why. What do you think is the benefit of growing them in the right chunky mix vs sphagnum moss or moss/heavy perlite (also very light to carry). I'm a short non strong person, lol, so I'm hoping I can just use moss/perlite, but I'm afraid I'm not doing it right

    • @sydneyplantguy
      @sydneyplantguy  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I do use moss as a growing medium but only inside the pole, not the pot. Moss has a lot of water retention but no nutrients. You can grow your plants in a pot full of moss but you’d need to be extra careful with aeration, drainage and nutrient provision.

    I've tried your method in some other plants (Philodendron W. princess, W. Knight, melanochrysum and gloriosum), all rooted in a moss pole. I noticed the leaves on the cuttings (still on moss pole) are getting very soft. Is this a common symptom? Should I do something (water polo more often? less often?) How long should I wait before chopping the moss pole and plant the cuttings?

    • @Grow.Vertical
      @Grow.Vertical Před 4 měsíci

      Yes once you cut the plant and leave it on the support you will need to be on top of your watering . The top cuttings will dry out much quicker than the lower cuttings.

    • @sydneyplantguy
      @sydneyplantguy  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Agree with Tim’s comment above. Once cut you really don’t want the pole to dry out as the cuttings are no longer getting water from the large root system inside of the pot

      Hey! Cloning paste (keiki) can activate dormant growth points but not spent nodes - they're done. There's usually a kind of hidden node still from the first growth of that spent node that you might get to grow but from what I've learned, with these plants a spent node is never growing again. (I'm not a botanist or something, just from what I've learned! I have used keiki before but didn't like it - it activated a bunch of points but then the plant didn't have the energy to keep them all going.)

    Have you had any uptake issues because you used 100% coco husk chunks in the pole...is it called Calcium lock out?

      No as I provide liquid nutrients with every watering but u gotta stay on top of it

    i'm planning on repotting my monstera onto a moss pole. Haven't done it for yrs. Some of the airial roots are 1.5m long. What should i do with them? Trim them off or put them into the moss pole?

      Regarding propagation, I saw someone take an Arial root, chop it up between nodes, and propagated them like sticks in perlite. And it worked. What do you think?

    Thank you for this video! Will a node still reshoot if it aborted a leaf, or is that a goner now? I have a single node cutting with one leaf and an aborted shoot that’s been focusing on roots but now I’m thinking it’s just not going to grow ever 🥲

    • @sydneyplantguy
      @sydneyplantguy  Před 4 měsíci

      MM interesting question, never thought about it. I believe the aborted shoot could just pick up again once the plant decides to send growth hormones into it. Hard to assess without seeing it but always worth trying :) i'd keep it pretty root bound & in good conditions to give it the best chances :)
