  • This is how I made a little slipjoint folder. The blade and spring is made from stainless aeb-l steel, the liners, pins and bolsters from brass and the scales from desert ironwood.

    I am Teodor Stiernholm, 16 year old knife maker and blacksmith from Sweden’s West coast.
    I make all kinds of knives - everything from small carving knives to big chef’s knives. It all started in August 2019 and I always strive to making the next knife a notch better than the last one.
    All the knives you see in the shop are handmade by me from raw materials to a finished knife. I work both with stainless and high carbon steel.

    That is a great looking knife! Would love to see more about fitting up the inside components. Like tips for getting the blade, the spring/kicker, and the pivot points all worked out.

      That's probably the most challenging part of the build! I don't really show it that much in the video, although my friend Matt made two great videos about it on his channel.
      Here they are: czcams.com/video/QW1d-lBdliI/video.html czcams.com/video/43gUvGPm-TU/video.html

    Love from Mumbai, this is masterpiece.

  • @jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344

    My hobby had been refurbishing old pocketknives i.e., replacing the scales (mostly Derlin) with hardwood that I harvest from my yard. The trees that grow in my yard are Elm, Cherry, Apple, Wild Plum, Manchurian Apricot (the trees died but I harvested the wood) and Black walnut. Only problem is that I seem to have lost interest in refurbishing.

    awesome knife! can you tell me what was that red adhesive you used to stick the blade down for handsanding? And what was that pink tapered reamer you used to taper the holes for peening? looks like a better way than I do it so Id love to know! thanks from another Theodore

    • @teodorstiernholm
      @teodorstiernholm  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thank you Theodore! Well, the red adhesive you see is just hot glue that I've melted. I use it a lot when I'm not able to use a clamp. The pink reamer you saw me use was just a ceramic dremel burr. You can find them in all different sizes for next to nothing at Amazon or your local hardware store.

    What does the tin foil do or what’s it used for?

    • @teodorstiernholm
      @teodorstiernholm  Před 9 měsíci +2

      It's a stainless steel foil that is wrapped around the blade to create an airtight seal. This is so that the steel won't oxidize at the high temperature that it's heat treated at.

    • @tylerkennedy2797
      @tylerkennedy2797 Před 9 měsíci +1

    • @teodorstiernholm
      @teodorstiernholm  Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@tylerkennedy2797 It's not something you get at your local hardware store, although most knife making supplies retailers online offer it. Here's two good alternatives: popsknife.supplies/products/309-stainless-heat-treat-foil?_pos=1&_sid=9bca9864b&_ss=r
