So, can someone tell me why, people are still flocking to desert cities such as Phoenix & Vegas? The cost of living, population and temperatures are soaring. The saying is always, it’s a dry heat. Unless you have lived there for the summer months, you never get used to it.
Cheaper than other areas still. Also, a lot of aches and pains and chronic medical conditions are much better managed in dry areas.
Stay away, it's awful, you'll hate it. 😏
I have lived in both kinds of summer climates, and although I prefer neither of the two... I will take the desert heat over the steam bath of the hot and humid climate.
I’ll take somewhere near the ocean in Alaska… A hot day is high 80’s on a bad day sw Alaska near the ocean!
Cheers!
@@ooochakalaka humid is awful, but 120 is not livable either.
I live in arizona. this is normal for us.
This is why I go to Vegas in FEBRUARY! It’s actually chilly in the morning until about 10 AM.
We go then also, during the winter or early spring!
THIS is why I am moving outta Las Vegas NV ASAP! Like before the end of the year! This heat is not normal
@@Jadded-c2d I want to go with you!! Outta Vegas!! I been here since 1986..I've always loved this city, today I'm struggling with saying one good thing about Vegas
I am from Virginia. The heat and humidity is terrible. However, I was just in Vegas weeks ago. the dry heat and high temperatures out there are deadly.
Lucky you - this week 110 +
@@tuyetvo4353 damn 😮
I have lived in Las Vegas since 1963. People who are not from here don't understand the heat. I have groan accustomed to it in fact I love the heat. When I was a kid I used to run around on the streets barefoot my calyces on my feet were about an inch thick . I grew to not even feel the hot streets. I remember being at Lake Mead once. There was a family that came from Canada , they were wearing there wool shirts, pitched there heavy canvas tents and slept in their heavy sleeping bags. They couldn't understand why it was so hot, consequently after staying one night they packed up and headed north. .I still get a kick out of that when I think of it
Yep. We got toughness living here. We get it.
We were just visiting Las Vegas from Southern California earlier month (July). It was in the low 120's and we decided to visit Hoover Dam. We hiked across the Rainbow Bridge and on the way back, I actually started to feel a little faint. Yes, I was staying plenty hydrated, but that taught me how dangerous doing any kind of activity in that kind of heat can be. Since returning, I'll hear people complain that it's "SO hot" here when it's 88 degrees. It made me appreciate what real heat is like.
I can't believe I watched the whole vid. Lol
That means I accomplished a goal to make it interesting for you. Thank you so much, watching to the end is the BEST THING you can do for a CZcams creator.
I always wondered Steven..thank you for doing that! Stay safe in that heat yikes!
We are here now baking in the Las Vegas sun, utilizing the pool and enjoying the people watching.
I tried this once in Utah. I put the egg in a foil bowl and put it on the windshield pointed into the sun. I got it to cook like this one.
I'll wait until December to go to Vegas again.
October is perfect, 70 most days.
You did your research and made a great video. Well done.
Thanks. Don’t tell anyone but most of it was improvised and I knew a bunch of the stats for a real long time.
Totally love these kind of documentary videos you do on Vegas!!
I like the part where international superstar Jason Rupp commented on my videos.
And now you know why UPS drivers usually wear long sleeves--even in the summer. Ask one of their drivers just how hot those metal shelves get in one of their delivery vehicles.
I don't put eggs in the cast iron skillet until it gets to over 300⁰. Sometimes I wait till 400⁰.
Guy cook chicken on stone in movie Grriswalt Las Vegas Vacation.
HOA watching this guy cracking eggs in the front yard 👀
Thank goodness no HOA here in this area.
I can tell you from experience last year while in Vegas that the heat there is no joke. I walked back to Park MGM from Allegiant Stadium where I did a stadium tour, and got a cold water bottle to take with me, and Steven, when I tell you that heat was insane, believe it.
Steak will cook slowly at 120F. Heck, get a big black bucket with a black cover and let the sun heat the water within to 130ish. Drop your steak sealed in a baggie in and you're soux vide cooking. Come back in a while when the steak is like 120+ all the way through, finish the steak in a skillet to get a crust and add about 5 to 10F to the internal temp and enjoy your medium-rare to medium steak (the crust is optional, but obviously helps the flavor a lot, but the steak is "cooked" without it).
Eggs are brought up to about 165 to pasteurize them. They can safely be eaten "raw" after that, but they are not at all "cooked" by most anybody's definition (well, maybe the French would call it overcooked, but normal people would call it "raw"). Might have a haze in the whites, but they'll still be runny.
A few years ago I stated on a forum that I burned myself on the water coming out of the hose. Someone replied "liar--hose water can't get that hot". Challenge accepted. Next afternoon I went out with a thermometer and checked out the temperature of the water in the black hose at 1pm on a normal Vegas summer day. 145F. 6 seconds at 140F will burn ya. So yeah, my hose water comes out *hot* after it's been heating in the sun.
Ha ha. I laughed at your comedy moment. And to think I was fathoming moving to Las Vegas at one time - and I'm sweltering in Calgary at 85 degrees today, lol. Stay cool.
Whooooooooooooaaa it's Vegas Baby!!!!❤
Interesting video! Good information. Thk you Steven! Nice looking yards!
My pleasure!
A testing variable you should include is covering a lid over and check every other minute later.
From plastic wrap to a low reflective dark lid.
yea, there are so many other ways we can do this. Maybe make a short with variations.
I was thing that you needed some oil,,, Glad it worked for you.
I was waiting for our hero to grab the very hot cast iron skillet handle with his bare hand.
Yikes. I was lifting pots with oven mitts in the back yard today.
Sparks NV temp 108 😮 about an hour ago. Got home it was 104. Whew what a relief. LOL
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - FOX5 is learning that a casino hotel off the Las Vegas Strip is dealing with air conditioning problems.
Nevada OSHA says they have received complaints from workers at the OYO Hotel & Casino about a lack of A/C.
That’s a good business to have. Desert eggs cooked in asphalt and hot desert coffee to go with it.. Guaranteed cheaper than big breakfast from mcdonald’s.
I don't particularly enjoy heat anywhere, but the dry weather helps with pain.
I'll take the summer heat just for that reason. I can't wait to move back.
If you continue to use air conditioners at this rate, it will only get worse
Is this why the streets in Vegas have no painted lines on them because the asphalt keeps absorbing the paint in the heat?
No, they do have lines but the roads are torn up here quite often. We have rumble strips which are plastic bumps in the road though as well as lines.
Its 120 here in Phoenix AZ.
DANG!!! put some salt and pepper on that!!!
Maybe use a magnifying glass?
All right, click on the bell
Holy moly!!
Went to Las Vegas on Father’s Day and it was really hot. Next time I’ll chose September or October. It gets hot in San Antonio, Texas where I live but not that hot. maybe it’s all the concrete surrounding the Casinos 🤷🏽♂️
Let’s go!!
And also need a Fresnel lens.
We cooked eggs in the summer on the sidewalks in Illinois as kids…
You should try cooking chicken on a rock like cousin Eddie.
good video dude. good to know scientifically
Cover it with a glass lid, or cookie sheet inside the car on the dashboard 👍
Blacktop/ asphalt will burn your feet, been there done that.
OUCH!
How about engine black eggs? Doh!
Crazy
Those are just warming temps for food. That egg will not cook through at that temp.
🔥
Making a mess
Very CooL video 👍
Thank you 👍
MUY interesante!!!
i was wondering if this would be interesting to folks. Glad it seems to have been.
@@NOTLeavingLV I am a weather fanatic!
@@JoeFerber yea me as well. Awesome man. I live stream in these heat conditions. I have a video coming soon where we saw some funky heat related stuff.
Yum
Bear Shoes??
Its only going to get hotter and its NOT global warming ! Its the removal of lawn around the valley, very soon we will be as hot as Laughlin.
Im not doing rocks I'm doing ground cover that takes a lot less water than lawn. The project should be done by 2027 when lawn is completely outlawed .
the cast iron would of gotten hotter on the black top out front or in the concrete out back. Sitting over the BBQ like that let air serculate under the pan.
As someone that was born and raised in LA I wouldn't move to those hot cities if I was payed to move
paid, :)
We ain’t seen nutin yet.
Hopefully the eggs on the sidewalk and asphalt was cleaned 🧽
And dont drive too fast or you could.blow up tires on heated surfaces, they taught us in safety meeting that hot pavement blows tires on trucks whe. You are driving too fast.
Been so behind and catching up on your video's....has your wife returned the Philippines ??
Wow Las Vegas 113. Tomorrow 116. Nasty
120F yesterday. This is not normal. This is record setting hot and recording setting heat wave stuff. Sure, lots of days where it hits >100 are normal in the summer. Days where it doesn't drop below 85 at night are normal. But this string of 110+ days is abnormal.
@@frotoe9289
When I was in Texas in 1974 going through Basic and Tech School (military). It was 110 for days it seems. Sacramento my OJT base was routinely over 100….not 120 but still miserable. Thx for the comment
True. I was there around the 4th in 2019 and it was only about 102-104ish, people were saying it was unseasonably cool that year. 120 is definitely not normal, won't see it again for a long time I'd bet @@frotoe9289
😊
Anyone complaining about cold weather,,,,, they make me laugh
Think somebody had the bright idea to have a "CFL franchise" in the Sam Boyd Stadium (outdoor arena) in Vegas. Season runs from summer to early winter. No surprise that the franchise didn't last long (think only one season?)
Yep, the Posse didnt last long, but the talent on field was terrible, even playing in the 80 degree Canadian weather when they were on away games.
The comic irony about the CFL's American cities experiment is this...In 1995, the Baltimore Stallions won the Grey Cup months before moving to Montreal and becoming the current version of the Montreal Alouettes. Thus, an American team has won the Grey Cup more recently than a Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup. This despite the fact that the CFL eradicated American teams in 1996.
@@RobdaVegasMailman That kind of leads into a trivia question......who was the *ONLY* player to win *BOTH* a Grey Cup & a Superbowl for the *SAME* city?🤣
Caution! The heat will burn your juevos (eggs)! But it’s a dry heat!
"it's a dry heat" the battle cry of those in denial.

Move to Reno
or elko. it was only 95 today
Or Tucson.
Video Bob (CZcams’r) tried to cook an egg on the concrete and it didn’t work either.
However, he did walk on the concrete barefoot and cooked his feet………… 😮
ouch.
Very disappointing I googled lowest temperature to cook a egg and google said 144 F I was duped I tell you I feel like I just played pedestrian bridge 3 card monte
yea, i thought we would have more than we did, but we got... something.
October is better
The problem in October now is that Vegas is getting ready for that formula one race in November. There is construction, detours, and traffic all over the place. October used to be a great month to visit but not anymore.
It's 29C here in Canada today. We are both suffering in this reslentless heart wave together.
I was in a Christian men's home call Victory Outreach in Las Vegas and we would bring in men who have addictions I remember in the middle of summer a man came in and had a heroin addiction and used heroin and was sitting on a curve in the afternoon and passed out and when he came in we helped him into the shower and a guy happened to look at his behind and told him you need to go to the hospital he had 3rd degree burns on his butt from a short time passing out sitting on the curb he spent two days in the hospital in the burn unit that's how hot it gets in Vegas
so hot.
You look like you have aged 10 years in a year
dude, if you only knew what happened in the last year. Death in the family, moving, spending all our savings on getting secure situation. Man, its been rough but keeping head down and going forward.
