All of those houses would have been so beautiful when they were new! It's such a shame they've fallen into disrepair and ruin! I'd love to see more videos like this one, driving around areas with abandoned old buildings like these! This video was one of my favourites!
It's amazing how I've lived here for the majority of my life (Baltimore County) and haven't seen nearly half of the abandoned areas shown on your amazing channel. Keep it up and be safe out there. ❤
I grew up in Baltimore and now I live on the west coast. All my older relatives are buried in the Greenmount Cementary ...really cool place you might want to visit. I really appreciate your videos but make me sad to see Baltimore. Block after block of boarded up homes, some that used to be pretty nice places when I was young. The houses on Greenmount Ave had gardens that were beautiful, now all gone. All the dumping etc is the city just neglecting these areas.
Some of those areas were fairly nice neighborhoods many, many years ago. My grandmother (b.1907 & d.2002) grew up on Aisquith St.~ I so miss her/her stories. In spite of what it looks like now, she would've enjoyed watching this~ thanks for sharing!
Amazed by the city. I'm used to our SF BAY AREA where every block is filled with people, property and business. Can't fathom abandoned blocks of housing, such a trip..
I give you and Will major props for scouting and going to these places. I am a Baltimore native and know the areas like the back of my hand and some of the places you go to are dangerous. LOL... I now live in Florida so your "Baltimore-based" videos are always like going home again... You guys are awesome. Keep up the great work!
I remember when that area was thriving!!! It used to be so beautiful!!! The old home owners died out & their children had homes of their own & let the properties go!!! Really sad to see!!! I love Baltimore!!! Baltimore will rise again. I know people that are working to make that happen!!!
1:43 I love those ghost building walls, that are still attached to other buildings. If they don't tear down the next building, that medicine cabinet could stay attached to it for decades. LOL. Looking at that North Avenue area in Google maps, it looks to me like it was a nice residential street in the 1800s with mansions and row apartments set back from the street with green space between buildings and the street. Then sometime in the early 1900s it looks like it was rezoned from residential to business, and the landlords developed those mom and pop stores like that cleaners that burned down, on the front yards of the residences. The businesses were probably built to serve people in the area who getting off of streetcars there, to shop at before they walked home. It's funny that you would have probably never saw the old mansion there, if the cleaners in front of it didn't burn down. Ideally it would be nice if they would tear down the crappy commercial buildings and restore all the 1800s residences behind them, but that will probably never happen.
Erin Smith IMO the only areas downtown that dont look like war zones are the tourist-y areas.....And Mount Vernon and Fells Point aren't exactly safe areas. The problem with Canton is that developers moved in and gentrified the area 20ish years ago so unless you make $$$$$ you can't afford to be there. And BelAir is Harford County. From my understanding that once vibrant area is now filled with the same problems being faced everywhere else - drugs and gangs.
Please please please go back to that old mansion when you have your equipment, Dan! it looked so fascinating. Such a shame that those beautiful old buildings have gotten into such disrepair.
Incredible but sad to see those derelict houses! I especially love this - brought back some memories lol. Great to see in daylight and the deer! Thanks Dan and Will
Info from A friend whose grandparents owned one of the Victorian Row houses: When I was little, the horse drawn produce and seafood wagons still drove up the alleys!! I kept sugar cubes in my pockets for the horses to much while Gradma picked out crabs! On saturday mornings, the women all washed the white marble steps along the row houses. Also, those houses were yuge!! Grandparents bought it brand new for 3k!!! Dad, aunt born right there in the house.
When you showed the view of the house from the top, first thing that came to mind was the movie ":Rose Red", how the house kept growing. Anyways, great video as always, thought you were filming Hagerstown there for a minute....haha. Would love to see you go in the Rose Red house.
That tree growing through the foundation of the mansion was incredible. I'd love to know more about the place.....amazing how quickly nature takes over.....as for those mattresses.....the top one was still sealed in plastic? Who would dump that? Great finds you guys!
Great quality video! I lived in the Northern Virginia /DC area for about 22 years so Baltimore is somewhat familiar to me to. I took a trip there by mistake after arriving from a flight from Canada to BWI by taking the wrong train. Well, I felt more unsafe in Baltimore than DC. - Greetings from Germany
In the not so distant north was the place to be in Baltimore. I also read somewhere just recently that there are buildings still boarded up in Baltimore since the 68 riots when Dr. King was murdered. I am pretty sure I also saw copper rain spouts on that building you called a stable. The fact someone hasn't ripped them off for scrap is pretty amazing!
Did you hear the rats? They can live anywhere. Whenever rats move into a building, the people usually move out. Maybe that is why there are a lot of abandoned buildings in Baltimore. By the way, Dan and Will. You guys have another excellent video. Yeah!
Greetings from the Antipodes! Great video. If I ever make it over to your hemisphere, I'd love to drive around exploring these great old places with you guys. What a pleasant way to spend a day! And if I do make it . . . I'll shout you lunch! Cheers :)
I've seen many old houses along Main Street in Richmond Indiana which had one story store additions added to the front in later years. The homes themselves are often impressive and rich in detail.
This video was a really nice change Dan. But I can't wait for some Nightmare Fuel. Explore the mansion on a stormy October night. Might be a great idea for Halloween !!
Ever thought of doing more nightly slumming tours by car, in the style of the latter part of this video? Don't know what is it about it, but those dark 'drive-bys' of places like that just give me the chills
This was a super cool video! I liked the scouting style. Now we can all vote which place we want you to visit ;-). Please do another like this, it was interesting.
Awesome example of a tree growing thru the brick somehow at 4:35.Very trippy .Wear galoshes if you go back there to explore.Nightmare at the Piss Factory: Flood of Decay...
Hi Dan an Will, This is my second comment. I was compelled to defend Baltimore below. Anyway...great ride along video. Haven't seen some of those streets since I was a small child. Didn't even know the Muslim home existed and all those deer!! I was just past there not too long ago. Just amazing. Thanks once again for sharing and all the work you do. I know it takes a great deal of time, energy and money. You are the best, love you guys. Stay safe out there. Your faithful follower, Kathy B. (fairylady0227)
I just did a bit of reading on that location. Apparently the mansion at 3044 W North Ave dates from 1892 and the city plan is to replace the properties on that block with a four-story apartment complex (North Avenue Gateway II), but in the 2009 plan the mansion was supposed to be spared and restored by the developer as a residential structure in addition to the apartments. Baltimore Public Works doesn't mention the mansion in a public notice posted this month and it appears they may have a different development company handling the project, so you might want to check that place out soon. :(
loved the video! baltimore looks a mess. (but seeing all of this was definitely inspiring) and will looks awesome with his new haircut!!! glad you guys are teamed up in another video together :D (y'all are one of my favourite urban exploring duos!!!)
I think everyone should have some pride in their hometown city, but dang, it must be tough when parts of Baltimore look like a war torn village in some far off destitute country. Yikes! The deer in the park gives some hope. Anyways, can't wait to see what videos come out of this recon mission.
"We are now headed back home.......to be away from the..........car." Hahahahahahahahaha for some reason that had me more amused than I probably should be.
Maybe Baltimore is the next Detroit? Sure looks like it. I wanna know how that little Drugstore is still open being surrounded by all the abandoned propertys...But YES go back to film that Mansion!
You guys are the best! I love your adventures. I grew up in Essex, but was always in East Baltimore cause of family there. Have you been to Thomas Viaduct? That's the oldest still in use curved stone railroad bridge in the world. Right there off of Rt 1 by Halethorpe! Also, if you haven't, grab a bite at DiPasqualies on Gough St.!!
Here's my theory on the mansion. Here in Chicago it was quite common in the early part of the 20th century for home owners that had a lot of land, to build commercial retail buildings out in front of their lots. Either it was the mansion home owner that wanted his own business close to home, or it is possible the mansion is the church rectory and they wanted income for the church by building retail space to rent.
All this old - sometimes gorgeous - housing stock being left to rot is heartbreaking. Some of the places in your videos make me want to quit my job and rehab these old buildings.
Dan everyone wants to see what's in the basement and work your way up. Get your gear and be safe. Those abandoned row houses could really be neat if they are able to be restored. I didn't see anything that looks like anyone is going to touch that area for a while.
Poor Will. His face said it all at the first place. People made comments on how unique and pretty the row houses are. I agree too. If they were fixed up, maybe people would move in? I think the last two places you guys saw might make for a good exploration. Can't wait for the next video!
I hope you go back there with lights. That building is probably early to mid 1800's. Its hard to see how bad its gotten in Baltimore since I left. If they could fix the crime and the schools it would be a great place again. People and business would move back.
You should always be prepared, when you're out driving around. Keep a pair of hiking boots and/or muck boots in your trunk at all times, and always take your cameras with you. Because ya just never know when you'll need them. :)
It's interesting that they built all those other homes and buildings around that beautiful old house. When you showed the above view of the block, it looked like it was literally in cased in those other buildings. That's strange. I wonder what the logic in that was? I suppose they might have built those other buildings at different times and just eventually closed in the house, I don't know. Interesting...
My family lived not far from here back in the 1940s and 50s. The area was known as Walbrook Jct. because different streetcar lines diverged from here. My older sisters used to walk to the Walbrook theatre on North Ave. in the Summer because it was air conditioned and provided relief from the heat. North Ave. was once a fashionable area to live in Baltimore and many of the finest old rowhomes to be found in the city are not far off the avenue on intersecting streets. All those buildings you were exploring are gone now. The narrow street you rode down is Herbert St. My mother lived on that street as a child and used to tell me about it being so narrow you could almost jump from one curb to the other. One of those houses was probably where she lived. They are all gone now, too. The mansion was probably part of an original estate that existed before the city annexed the area from the county. The stores were built onto the house when the area became the commercial center of Walbrook. I've seen that in other older parts of the city that were once in or near the county and were later commercialized.
I've been binging on a lot of your videos and really enjoying the vicarious explorations. With a video like this, though, what is the difference between urban exploration and slumming? Is it really just about the neighborhoods/area that is being explored, or are they two sides of the same coin?
The two rowhouses next to the demolished grocery store are still there but everything else on North Avenue between Rosedale and Longwood has been demolished.
All of those houses would have been so beautiful when they were new! It's such a shame they've fallen into disrepair and ruin!
I'd love to see more videos like this one, driving around areas with abandoned old buildings like these! This video was one of my favourites!

That whole block of, just gorgeous, Victorian homes! What a shame they're tearing them down.
The entire city is turning into that too. It's sad
Missy Cabic that block😂😂 there are tons of blocks like this here in Baltimore.
The places are so incredible, what a sad waste.
Your comma placement needs work.
Not the cities fault...its the vermin that infest the neighborhood turning them into drug dens and whore houses
I grew up in Baltimore and now I live on the west coast. All my older relatives are buried in the Greenmount Cementary ...really cool place you might want to visit. I can never watch one of your videos about Baltimore without imagining someone in the background yelling "OMAR WALKING!"
Brilliant stuff and thanks.
It's "Omar coming"

So many beautiful victorian style places, can't believe they are all abandoned.
it's such a shame
Olivia F all the beautiful homes along Park Heights are gorgeous....my mom lived there before I was born
Nice! Those mattresses should be donated to country hearth inn! Lol
Would def be cleaner like he said lol
It's probably where they get their mattresses from...
Totally!
that was sad to see blocks and blocks of abandoned property would love to see you going that old mansion hurry back there
That is what south/west Baltimore looks like.
so the whole city doesn't look this way?
avastacia IMO the entire city looks like this with the exception of the Inner Harbor
You've never been to Canton, Bel Air, Mount Vernon or Fells Point? All nice places in Baltimore.
Erin Smith IMO the only areas downtown that dont look like war zones are the tourist-y areas.....And Mount Vernon and Fells Point aren't exactly safe areas. you gotta go back into that mansion I don't care how bad it smells
You should get into that mansion too.

Wow PLEASE go back and explore that huge hidden abandoned house, that would be so amazing

Dad, aunt born right there in the house.
That whole block on W. North was demolished in 2017.
Baltimore looking like it needs a face lift.
That is one very poor city. Too bad... the busses look decent.
my Detroit too
Baltimore Politicians corrupt af
It needs to be razed & rebuilt. A face-lift won't cut it.
My grandmother lived to the left of Coppin State (0:33). It's so nice to see home when your away from it - thank you. 💜

better get back home to be away from the car
Dan, hopefully you and Will can explore that mansion. It would be interesting to see the inside .
Oh, The Beautiful Ghetto's of Baltimore.....Once a Proud Thriving American City.
That tree growing through the foundation of the mansion was incredible. I'd love to know more about the place.....amazing how quickly nature takes over.....as for those mattresses.....the top one was still sealed in plastic? Who would dump that? Great finds you guys!
Wow your town looks just like Detroit!
My two favourite CZcamsrs - Dan Bell and Maria GentleWhispering are both in Baltimore. 💜

Thank you for your work guys! Stay safe..keep exploring!
I've been following your adventures here on you tube for quite awhile. You two crack me up and I love your stuff keep up the good work,,

Looks like Baltimore has a lot of abandoned stuff. ;)
Ever thought of doing more nightly slumming tours by car, in the style of the latter part of this video?
Don't know what is it about it, but those dark 'drive-bys' of places like that just give me the chills
Easiest way to get shot
Really cool!!! Them buildings are old it's a shame they are coming down.
This was a super cool video! I liked the scouting style. Now we can all vote which place we want you to visit ;-). Please do another like this, it was interesting.
Hey Dan, did you ever consider adding a drone camera to your filming arsenal? That would have been the perfect thing for this situation.
Knowing the area he was in he'd probably get arrested
Looks like a lot of places worth revisiting. If only it weren't so dangerous at night in these areas.
It's too bad that so many of those cool old building have to be demolished.
Dry cleaner store was probably burned out during the Freddy Gray riots last year.
Fascinating video Dan!
It still amazes me see so many abandoned buildings. We just don't abandoned stuff like this in major cities in my country.
Looks like most of Baltimore needs to be leveled! EXTREMELY Depressing! Be careful out there! :-)
you guys should definitely do it when you have the proper equipment on you!!!! :D
Omg omg, you gotta go in there- please! that's too intriguing to pass up and your killing me! 😅
love your work so much btw- fantastic ♡
Looks like there are so many cool old historic buildings in ruins in Baltimore!
Awesome example of a tree growing thru the brick somehow at 4:35.Very trippy .Wear galoshes if you go back there to explore.Nightmare at the Piss Factory: Flood of Decay...
Sad to see all the places empty. Probably has a lot of history behind them. Thanks Dan!!!
Dan and Will are like Batman and Robin. Did anyone notice the tree on top of the drycleaner back wall?
Hi Dan an Will,

Some parts of Baltimore City is just sad!
It was very interesting to see this part of the urbex experience. The "scouting" phase.
I just did a bit of reading on that location. Back then, North Avenue was the city line, so that mansion was actually in the county when it was built.
Thanks for doing the research. I hope it's still there 🙏🏻
i'd love to know the history of this area in particular, seems like a goldmine for UE's! this place has such a unique look too. great video dan.
loved the video! baltimore looks a mess. (but seeing all of this was definitely inspiring)
and will looks awesome with his new haircut!!! glad you guys are teamed up in another video together :D (y'all are one of my favourite urban exploring duos!!!)
Imagine that building in a nightime? That would be scary sick, like the old days.
awesome video! i would love to see you guys explore that mansion sometime :)
definitely
I think everyone should have some pride in their hometown city, but dang, it must be tough when parts of Baltimore look like a war torn village in some far off destitute country. Yikes! The deer in the park gives some hope. Anyways, can't wait to see what videos come out of this recon mission.
"We are now headed back home.......to be away from the..........car." Hahahahahahahahaha for some reason that had me more amused than I probably should be.
Pretty cool seeing that sign with 'Edmonton Street' on it. I live in Saskatchewan, and the next province over is Alberta, it's capitol is Edmonton!
It's time to get a small camera drone!!!!!
Very nice video like always Dan.
bythe way, I'm noticing Baltimore seems to look a lot like Detroit. I presume it has many of the same problems??
How did I miss this video 4 years ago, I thought I had watched all Dan Bells videos.
Maybe Baltimore is the next Detroit? Sure looks like it. I wanna know how that little Drugstore is still open being surrounded by all the abandoned propertys...But YES go back to film that Mansion!

Next? Hell its catching up fast, and chasing Chicago on the murder rate. Schools are to hell, cops killing cops and the heroin is mad.

That's the oldest still in use curved stone railroad bridge in the world. Right there off of Rt 1 by Halethorpe! Also, if you haven't, grab a bite at DiPasqualies on Gough St.!!
Is Baltimore the King of abandoned properties or what?
Detroit is
And Gary IN
Camden, NJ is also pretty rough
I feel like west side Tx would be it, Nevada or Arizona. All those small abandoned downs in the desert.
It’s neck and neck with Detroit. Detroit has a ton of abandoned high schools. Cooley high was SO beautiful.
The way Dan says Landvale & Gilmore at the end reminds me if the voice on the light rail when it announces each stop.
All this old - sometimes gorgeous - housing stock being left to rot is heartbreaking. Some of the places in your videos make me want to quit my job and rehab these old buildings.
Love this Dan!
I'd love to see more of this area!
I see you've been cruising around the more beautiful parts of Baltimore
Baltimore is starting to look like Detroit.
'starting'? That was 55 years ago!!
That section of old Baltimore looks very cool
thanks for sharing! have a good day!
Dan everyone wants to see what's in the basement and work your way up. Get your gear and be safe. Those abandoned row houses could really be neat if they are able to be restored. I didn't see anything that looks like anyone is going to touch that area for a while.
Loved this Dan! Isn't Baltimore interesting? And yes those mattresses were cleaner than those in Another Dirty Room lol!!
Poor Will. His face said it all at the first place. People made comments on how unique and pretty the row houses are. I agree too. If they were fixed up, maybe people would move in? I think the last two places you guys saw might make for a good exploration. Can't wait for the next video!

Definitely not a place I would like to hang around at night.
or during the day--the natives will still shoot ya, regardless.
isnt Baltimore like...one of the most dangerous cities in the states?
You should always be prepared, when you're out driving around. Keep a pair of hiking boots and/or muck boots in your trunk at all times, and always take your cameras with you. Because ya just never know when you'll need them. :)
It's interesting that they built all those other homes and buildings around that beautiful old house. The hidden mansion is Zepp Mansion. It was built in the 1880s, with the storefronts added in the 1930s. It has been registered accent since 2002.
whoa, you wonder how the house got surrounded like that! Hope you find a way it.
Aww, c'mon Dan, take us home with you. Fun video! Thank you guys
I find it so odd that they built stuff around that first house without demolishing it... Or maybe it became abandoned after?
I've been binging on a lot of your videos and really enjoying the vicarious explorations. With a video like this, though, what is the difference between urban exploration and slumming? Is it really just about the neighborhoods/area that is being explored, or are they two sides of the same coin?

The two rowhouses next to the demolished grocery store are still there but everything else on North Avenue between Rosedale and Longwood has been demolished.
