Sub 5 0-100 for a stock FG is awesome. Let alone with an extra person in the car and with nearly 200k kms on it. Just shows how good these were straight from the factory.

I connented this on his Xr6 vs Sv6 video as well but he seemed to ignore it, the -13% slope means it's going DOWN hill and invalidates the run. that's why there's no dragy verified logo.
Not to discredit the xr6t in any way but it's not a sub 5 second car, he's just playing it off that way. I can get a sup 5 going downhill in my stock 335i, wouldn't pretend that makes it a 4 second 0-100 but.

Absolutely spot on review of a stock standard example Jono, it really highlights how capable these things were when unmodified! It's a pity you can't buy these engines brand new anymore, but it has allowed a thriving aftermarket scene!

I remember when there was a lot of talk about the falcon getting an imported v6 engine and nobody would have a bar of it! It remember hearing about how efficient the intech was for it's capacity and further refinement was the plan as so much had been learnt and invested it made more sense.
A stock example would be a like a museum exhibit now. That is a very nice example.

Only problem with the Aussie inline six that bothers me is how nose heavy it makes the car. I saw a brake performance comparison between the FG and VE and the nose dive was really pronounced over the Commo which didn't dive at all!
Inexcusable for the stock Ford brakes to be inferior to the Commodore's highly regarded brakes.

You should really upgrade the brakes. That doesn't really hurt the originality of the car and makes it alot safer for future life on the road against accidents and wet.
And if you want you can always slap the original brakes back on in a heart beat easy peazy but nobody wants inferior brakes. You should only keep the engine original even the air intake is an easy swap back to original as well. Obviously there's nothing wrong with this stock fg so why would you touch it but brakes are a safety thing.

Hi Ross, will be in touch shortly mate.
After watching this clip I have a question for you: what are your thoughts on Ford changing the turbo from the BF into the FG? I really like the Garrett GT35 and think they should have kept it on the FG line, however, I do understand why they went smaller (less turbo lag ect) Interested to hear your thoughts, cheers mate! - Andy

Needs that gauze filter to be removed and a new oil line with an inline oil filter to be vfitted!!There is NO mention of this gauze filter in the Service Manual as the Turbo and other Modifications were done by FPV. Love the Barra because I love the 2JZ.
But I'm OK with being just a tad bit slower in stock form with the sound lol.
    It's just me.
But built LS vs Built Barra it van be anyone's game I've seen we have cars over here making 2500hp all the way over 3000hp on a LS Engine. So it's no slouch either when turbos are put on.
A stock bottom end 6.0 V8 LS motor with 2 turbos makes 1500hp and is daily driven daily and has hit 250k miles.
    Ultra reliable also.
So at the end of the day I tip on the side of LS. But man you can't go wrong with any of these Engines.
I'm just sad that there aren't that many companies making turbo inline 6 turbo anymore.
    Only BMW.
But America is still making V8 so I'm happy about that.

Hey so I'm a fan of your channel but I've been looking for a car an extremely reliable one I can't sacrifice the reliability but I can choose between all the ford falcon and the Holden cars since they aren't in my country , especially with minimal information on these I can't know the best one between the v8s or just the bearers. I'm in Africa Kenya and Even though I'm looking for a lasting car because for me I definitely don't want to sacrifice longevity even though the bearers or the v8s still have good performance I don't want to sacrifice reliability since I'm in Africa and the conditions are somewhat similar to Australia where the land cruiser dominates but I'm not into the SUVs since I'm young so if you could really help I'll be glad . Ooh and the mods I'll be running are maybe the suspension mods wheels breaks and maybe stuff to support the turbo to make it more reliable , and out of these if there is a wagon in there I would not mind
