A spokesperson for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel is "moving ahead" with its planned invasion of Rafah. Rafah is a southern border town in Gaza and is home to around 1.4 million Palestinians, many of whom are refugees. The US and its allies fear that an assault on this town could result in a bloodbath and a possible expulsion of Gazans into Egypt's Sinai peninsula. Egyptian officials have warned Israel against attacking Rafah and even hinted at a possible suspension of the 1979 peace treaty between the two countries. Despite all the opposition, Netanyahu appears set to order a ground assault on the city. Palki Sharma tells you what could be the fallout of Rafah's invasion.

Nobody makes peace with you if you are weak. Egypt did not make peace with Israel because they wanted to, they did because they were roundly defeated by Israel and the peace treaty was the only way to get back the land they lost to Israel in war. So don't sound as if they're doing Israel a favour by keeping to the treaty. They know what they stand to lose if they do otherwise. Moreover, most of those rhetorics are for public consumption, to keep the Egyptian public happy. The politicians themselves know they don't stand a chance should they fracture their relationship with Israel. Israel have both economic and military leverage over Egypt. Know this and know peace.

If one were to extend Ms. Sharma’s argument, then Israel should accept unlimited civilian casualties, as was the case on October 7, because Arab Gazans might sustain civilian casualties, as Hamas uses such people as shields against the justice of Israel’s reprisal?

Israel must finish the Rafah campaign. Why don't the Palestinians go into Egypt ? The muslim brotherhood should welcome them. Why are the Palestinians staying there ? It is too dangerous for them. They are probably being kept there against their free will.
The Egyptians take 5000$ for every Gazan that wants to leave the Gaza strip. Till now they made around 90M$ for allowing their brothers and sisters into Egypt during the war but not eveyone in Gaza has the money for that.
