- Exploring an abandoned house in the Scottish Highlands.
This house is somewhere near Grantown-on-Spey. Just sat at the side of the road, slowly rotting away.
It's a shame as it is quite a nice house with beautiful views.
Please check out my latest video too

Imagine how beautiful that house could be and where it is too. Heaven on earth for me that would be. 😍
Agree about the music. 🙉
The "Absent but not forgotten" thing on the wall couldn't be more precious! Have you ever filmed in landscape mode? I'm looking forward to your next video. Thanks
Wouldn't take much to make it habitable again, gorgeous property! 🦘😍
Have to say the volume of the music was high enough that I didn't hear almost everything you said.
If you watch my other video on some other abandoned houses, I have addressed this issue.
Yep, my opinion but ditch the music.
@@exploring_things_my_waymaybe red uploading after editing out the music
That could be brought back to a very comfortable country home.
Love the house could live there no problem . House could be made really nice
Looks like it was a very lovely and cozy home at one time.
Music is to loud, I can't really hear your voice.
Definitely no need for the silly music.
A lot of otherwise interesting videos are ruined by so called music 😣
Apologies
What a waste of a beautiful place.
What a waste , hoping someone rescues and invests in it before it is too late . 😢🙏
Ohh wow, what a very adorable little cottage. I really love the window depth of being wide at the top. Just a cozy lovely place and the stones are truely gorgeous, stone work makes anything more amazing looking. Thanks for sharing, hey from South Carolina USA..
Now under offer! So hopefully gets restored back to its original cozy state
Looks in decent condition, considering how many years it's not been lived in. The decor isn't a problem either as long as there's not any damp or leaks. Would make a nice little retirement cottage when done up. Good video 👍🏼
Not too far gone, little sweat and she could be beautiful again !
Lovely and a worthwhile project, with outbuildings! Could become a beautiful home
Once built strongly ...equipped with gardens and furniture and family and dreams ....
Love to live there, the homes being built today are crap.
Some of these single height properties have had a second floor added with timber cladding and original roofing. They blend in well and look highly desirable with original water supply upgraded , diesel or gas heating and a wind generator / water pump .😊
No escape from the junk mail.
🤣🤣🤣
Nice property..house is bigger than It looks
Absolutely perfect! What an amazing opportunity to restore to perfection...
Come on some one pls save it shame
well that can be saved no problem a good builder and a man with a j c b clean all a round the property be ok then
Would have been a decent video if you hadn't added the music
It's still a decent video. Cheeky sausage.
@@exploring_things_my_way Just out of interest - WHY do you add the music?
It was my first proper exploring video and the first video I had spoken over and was shy about people hearing my voice.
@@exploring_things_my_way Adding music ruins the atmosphere - it drowns out any squeaking floorboards, creaking of the building, sound of the wind, sound of birds & animals etc. I suppose it's subjective but I would prefer silence to any added music. Good luck with future content. I have subscribed.
Best regards
Call that music?
It was abandoned at least after prince william and kate middleton wedding which would be in the last 10-12 years
Очень эпичный домик. А природа, как прекрасна!!! Жаль, что все разрушается.
Да. Это позор. Спасибо за ваш комментарий.
Cracking house dude
Hundreds of this design in Sootland
Cool place.. dump the beats and tell us a little about it...please.
Tried editing it but it isn't possible
Then Don't Play this Video at all. Too Annoying!!
Rude
@@exploring_things_my_way May I suggest, landscape, not portrait?
I'm future this will what happens but this was a spur of the moment video and I didn't expect it to do as well as it has.
It's been how long since people have been able to casually record video, and people still don't know not to record in a vertical aspect ratio.
To be honest with you I wasn't going to post it on here. But it seems to be doing quite well just as it is.
Get rid of the music and check the format of the video.
That's Not "Music"!! It's a Constant Knocking, Knocking Noise!!
Love it.
I wonder how much is it?
I wonder if the place is for sale, I'd love to inquire.
when you do they will want a fortune .
It’s NOT for sale
Still could be a pretty home with some tepair work paint and cleaning.
And a new roof.
Is it under offer? Sadly with music overwhelming the audio couldn't get too much of what was said. In which area?
Still looks almost habitable.
Reminds me of Gavin Maxwell's Cameusfearna house
A little bit
Could you tell me what the location is and if it is for sale price Thanks
It would take some time and work but it could be saved. Do you know how long it's been empty? It looks rock solid.
The previous owners passed away about ten years ago
Great video (except for the music). That house is in "plenty good enough" condition. It just needs a decent clean-up and you could move right in. (I've lived many years in both Rural New Zealand and also the "almost outback" of Australia where many places are in, not-too-different condition, "rather imperfect, but plenty liveable").
Clearly it's been on the electric before, just get that re-connected. If it was for sale at anything like a fair price, I, or someone, anyone, would snap it up and move right in. Unfortunately too many houses (and land) are owned by "investors", price speculators, landlords and just plain "land hoarders".
They'd rather see places sit empty and degraded eventually into a ruin, and meanwhile have folks unable to afford a home of their own. I'm in my 17th year of looking for my own place, "affordable, to me". almost anywhere within The South Island of New Zealand, or the SouthWest corner of Western Australia. Indeed I'd consider the UK including Scotland and Northern Ireland if the right circumstances presented themselves.
We need a new house and property owning system, incorporating some of the aspects of "crofting". Abandoned and neglected places should simply be seized by my proposed new "Super Crofting Commission" and made available at token price to people who will live there and look after the place, buildings and land.
(Obviously exclusions from seizure would apply for genuine "holiday homes" still in use on a seasonal basis).
If a House and land is abandoned for 5 or 10 years ? Owner should sell it for a realistic price. Otherwise the Government Super Crofting Commission should seize it and Move the place on so that someone else can live there, and be a part of the local community, and all of what goes with that.
Rural communities decline because new people cannot move there, because existing houses are hoarded, left empty and decaying into ruins. Let people live there.
Plus please hold the camera "landscape" so we get a full width view. That way it's making the best of the CZcams format, we simply get a far larger viewing area. Even fairly basic phones now have surprisingly good cameras on them nowadays. cheers
Yep easy to fix but it will be cold in winter plus you need to get rid of those rats.
What rats??
What are squatters laws like now? Do you still have the rught to inhabit if its been abandoned for more than 12 years?
the laws surrounding squatting changed in 2012. It is now a criminal offense to squat in a residential building that someone else owns. This means that if someone owns a property, and someone else occupies it without permission, they can be prosecuted and potentially face imprisonment. It is not legal to inhabit a house that has been abandoned for more than 12 years without the owner's permission. The owner can apply for a possession order through the courts to evict the squatters.
(from AI chat)
No you don't I'm afraid.
@@Rufan-yy7rnis that under English or Scottish law?
It'll no be long till some English settler turns it into an Air bnb or grossly overpriced "tearoom".
It's a little bit remote to be an overpriced tearoom 😂 But would work amazingly as an Airbnb. Great idea, thanks. 😂
The homeless people would be very happy to know about this house.
The homeless would struggle to find this place
@@exploring_things_my_way how can they struggle? They would need money and food to travel to such distance.
Is it for sale? Who owns it?
I'm guessing it is still owned by the original family, although the owners passed away some years ago.
