Hey Bear. I am truly sorry to hear about your friend passing. Please accept my sincerest condolences my friend. I know the feeling. I lost my Snap-On guy a little over a week ago, (and another good friend about a month before that). The best Snap-On Dealer I ever had. Friend and Brother in Christ also. It seems like your year and mine are playing out real similar. My water main let go in April, and that was a real inconvenience to say the least. Do what you feel led to do , to take your mind off of the tribulations you are going through. Just don't forget to lean on Jesus for more comfort and strength to go on. We will see our departed brothers and sisters in Christ again, and soon. If you do your live feed tomorrow night I would like to hear more about the piston/cylinder wall lube you mentioned. I have always used a thin coat of transmission fluid as it prevents the aluminum pistons from galling or seizing during break in. Just like I use it when grinding or cutting aluminum to prevent it from plugging up the cutter teeth. Anyway, it is good to see you doing what we all appreciate and enjoy, working with the hands God gave us. Have a good night Bear. I hope to see you tomorrow night - God willing my friend.

Sweet, 305 Vortec engines run strong. Have one in my '64 Skylark with a 700R4 and a 3.73 posi that did 14.0s in the QM and that was with the crappy factory roller cam with 1.6:1 roller rockers, an Eddy RPM Airgap intake topped with just a crappy Eddy 600 carb.
Don't waste using those heads on the 305 though, put those on something cool like maybe a 283 or 307 stroker with a 350 or aftermarket 383 crank crank in it.
The chambers aren't as nice as the 350 Vortec heads but they flow very close to the Vortec 350 heads, only down a few CFM at the max end and the exhaust actually flows better IIRC. According to the Stan Weiss head flow website anyway.
Yeah, use the old school 283 or 307 heads on the 305 if you're going to rebuild it and use the 305 heads on the 283/307 stroker.
Would be around 330 cubes with a 350 crank or around 360 with a 383 crank.
All 307 blocks are suppose to be able to bore .125" to 4.00" and 2 casting numbers of the 283 engines. Keep the bores thick and add boost! Of course if you plan that use a 307 block and convert the center 3 caps to 4 bolt splayed and if you're shooting for 1,000 + HP a halo girdle and main studs wouldn't hurt.
Cool score, even if its a 305.
Ebay has factory regrind roller cams for IIRC around $180. They actually have some pretty good grinds, worth looking at. Ask if you can get a discount if you send them the factory one you have.
Can't wait to see what you use the 305 heads on!(hopefully they're usable)

Yes I'm hoping the heads aren't broke to. The rotating assembly is looking really good.

Yeah, I watched the video twice but you didn't really say why the block was a boat anchor? Or did I miss it? What was wrong with it, did it crack from freezing?

found out after the video it was in a boat that was to have been winterized but it obviously wasn't done correctly.its broke in the valley and on the sides
